Pros:

Bigger boobs, improved skin

Cons:

Takes ages to work

I've never had amazing skin, but at the age of 23 I developed full blown acne out of the blue. I tried several courses of antibitoics and creams such as benzyl peroxide but nothing worked. After much convincing, I managed to get my Doctor to put me on Diannete, even though I'm classified as obsese. I was so depressed about my skin I decided to accept the risks and go for it anyway. It's been three months now and I've noticed some change, although I'd still my acne is still quite bad. I've noticed that my skin goes through spells of being really clear and then really bad. I'm not sure if anyone else found this? Anyway, I'm going to stick with it as I don't want to go on Roacutane and hope that in time my skin improves. Fingers crossed!

Pros:

Completely cleared skin
Regular periods
Less greasy skin

Cons:

Severe acne after stopped taking medication

I started taking Dianette for moderate acne after semi successfully using antibiotics and topical treatments. While I was taking the pill my acne completely disapeared and my skin was much, much clearer. I took this medication for about a year and a half at least, in which time it was very succesful. However as you're not meant to be on this pill for extended lengths of time (usually only about one year I think) I changed to Yasmine as my doctor thought this would also help prevent acne. When I switched to Yasmine after about 4 months the odd spot started to come up on my face every now and again. This gradually got to be about 3-5 spots on my face 6 months after switching to Yasmine. I stopped taking Yasmine after 7 months because it wasn't preventing my acne and it didn't controll my periods properly (e.g. sometimes they would come on very lightly, but while I was still in the pill taking weeks). After stopping this prescription my acne came back gradually, and after 5 months of stopping the Yasmine (1 year of stopping the dianette) I had severe acne. It was far more inflamed than acne I've had before and moved to different parts of my face, mainly around my cheeks and temples. In my opinion Dianette works, but is not a long term solution. And Yasmine didn't work for me as an acne treatment. I'm now on a course on Accutane.... lets see how that goes.

Pros:

periods managed, a lot lighter
skin cleared up briefly but then got worse

Cons:

I've been eating a lot more, and I've been incredibly swollen and bloated. the first 2 days of my period were also incredibly painful and my acne hasn't seen much improvement.

Pros:

Bigger boobs (yay), contraceptive, small tablet, reduces acne (may clear up but it hasn't been long enough)

Cons:

headache and loss of apatite for the first few days, stomach ache, have to get prescription

Ive only used dianette for about 9 days and it has already reduced my acne but not completely. I'll update if I see any changed in my skin and see if it's improved later on :D ( fingers crossed). The reviews are varied so I think it just depends on everyone individually! Im 17 and only in the last 4 months ive had acne on the sides of my neck and jawline what's really annoying. I as wondering if anyone knows if it's ok to carry on taking the next pack of pills after finishing the first so I miss a period (as im on holiday for a week)? Xxx

Pros:

skin improving but only slightly however im only starting my 3rd packet so im waiting for the results

Cons:

for the week break that is required to be taken my mood is awful, my skin gets worse and then better, periods are heavier and im scarily emotional

you definitely need to wait for these tablets to work, don't give up hope. i think after youre 3rd of 4th months there should be some improvement. if youre depressed etc seriously consider taking a different tablet as these dramatically effect your mood. good luck to anyone else trying them!x

Pros:

It's free on NHS, skin is less greasy, bigger boobs,

Cons:

Acne seems the same, mood swings

I started taking Dianette two months ago and decided to check how others reacted to it online today. There are some things which have become apparent to me since reading other people's reviews. In the first week or so of taking it I had horrendous stomach cramps very similar to period pain. The mood swings for instance, I noticed I was feeling down recently but put it down to the time of year, however I never felt like this before I took Dianette. Some people would see this as a pro, I've gone up at least a cup size and feel that my chest is getting bigger still. I was a B before and was happy this way. Now, I'm a C bordering on D. The weird thing is that I haven't put on any weight and even when I was bigger a few years ago, my chest was never this big. Also, my chest is always extremely tender now. I'm going to perserve with Dianette for another three months and see if it does improve the acne over time, because it has definitely decreased the oil production in my skin.

Pros:

Within a few days my acne started to improve
Free in the UK

Cons:

Severe headaches for the first few days
Nausea and dizziness

I've been on this pill for a few weeks now and my acne has started to improve! However, I started to get really bad headaches, even on the first day of taking it! Also, at work I started to feel really dizzy and sick, even though I had no reason for it! I've read most of the reviews, and I haven't experienced weight gain or loss in appetite. I have yet to experience what it is like coming off the pill, but the doctor said that she had a 'plan c' after the pill so if you're worried about coming off it, just talk to your doctor! As for breast growth, not yet for me! But it happened for my mum so it will probably happen to me too. I think if it worked/didn't work with your mother, it will have the same effect on you! So I wouldn't read too much into these reviews as it works differently on different people.
