Pros:

Er... NOTHING. Well okay having regular periods and the whole birth control thing was good.

Cons:

Weight gain, nausea, terrible headaches, almost vomiting, skin actually getting slightly WORSE- if anything at all.

Okay so this was hell for me. Not only did I gain weight (I am very active and eat low cal healtn foods) but I also suffered illness when on this too. I won't go into that though, I'll try to stick to the acne side of things. I have been on Diannette twice, and the first time it did nothing for me skin at all- although I was still a bit ill on it- but the second time my acne got worse and more cystic. I was a lot more sick feeling the second time around. I was expecting good things but was disappointed. :( If you must try this do expect weight gain. I gained quite a lot of weight and I am active- I'm still losing it now!

Pros:

clears some peoples skin

Cons:

your acne usually comes back when you come off it, sometimes worse than before

This pill is banned in America, take that as you will! this pill never worked for my acne, i think it even made it worse, but i stuck with it for a few years as i needed thee contraception. I would not advise anyone to take it. especially not if you are very young

Pros don't outweigh cons
For me, the cons of dianette definitely outweigh the pros. Although it did completely clear my acne, it took nearly a year to do so. Within the first few months of taking the pill I started getting hot and cold flashes which worsened with time. I also found that I became very anxious and paranoid whilst taking dianette, although I only noticed this after I stopped taking it. I have been on my new pill, cilest, for around 3 months now and as well as keeping my skin clear I am not feeling depressed, bloated, and nauseous like I was with dianette. My hot and cold flashes are starting to lessen, although I still get them from time to time- for me this was the most frustrating side effect of dianette which no one else seemed to get?! My advice would be to definitely consider the pros and cons of dianette, had I been informed about them by my doctor I would not have taken it.

feel like giving up
I never had terrible skin as a young teenager, it wasn't not until my late teens where I used antibiotics to help keep my skin clear as i tended to get a few under the skin sore, hard spots. I'm now into my first year of my 20's and i can honestly say I've never felt so rubbish about myself, so i went to the doctors and he prescribed me with Dianette. With the first strip of pills i didn't see a decrease on the amount of acne spots on my face, they're still sore, hard and very red..in my opinion they're much, much worse. I've just started my second strip of pills but i don't know whether to give up! I'm also one of those people who has a very short fuse, and currently I feel it's at the shortest it's ever been, i cannot seem to control my behavior.

Pros:

Bigger boobs
Slight improvement in skin
Less oily skin and hair

Cons:

Anxiety
Mood swings and constant crying
Headaches and fatigue

I can honestly say that going on Dianne was one of the worst decisions I have ever made regarding my skin. I suffered a horrendous breakout during the first 3 months of use and also experienced extreme mood swings, severe period pain, constant headaches and fatigue. By the 4th my skin had cleared up slightly but I begun having serious anxiety attacks and fits of crying which made me unable to continue my day to day life. Having acne is sh*t but being on this pill made me grateful that at least having acne made me sane. I'm not saying everyone will experience the side effects that I did and for most the pill works effectively. I would recommend giving it a few months and see how it works for you!

Pros:

I took it to treat my acne, and hoped that it would treat excecc hair and hair loss asociated with PCOS. I am also under weight. Well it cleared my skin, helped me to gain weight and improved the hair situation, BUT..

Cons:

Well! coming off Dianette was like experiencing a MINI MENAPAUSE. I experienced much worse acne than I had known before. My hair got worse in every way. My skin aged too! I was only 23 at the time but felt like I was approaching 40! my period shortnd

Being on Dianette while I was on it cleared my acne and improved my overall problem with over-sensitivity to androgens. However after being on it for a year I started to feel sick for the first pill of each month.I knew it wasn't right to stay on something my body was fisically [link removed]ing off it is best described as a mini menapause- eveerything was worse than before and the worst thing for me on reflection is that my period shortened from a long 5 days strong period before Dianette to only two full days and it has never recovered. The good news is a herb called Agnes Castus cleared my acne again; the bas news is it took a full year on agnus castus before it worked but the results are amazing. At the moment I am conmsidering taking a diferent anti androgen drug but without estrogen so unlike with dianette there will be no awfull estrogen withdrawal symptoms. Tke it if you must but please please consider other options first. acne is bad but menapause is worse!!!

Pros:

Minor improvement to skin and quite quickly.

Cons:

Major depression, panic attacks, crying fits, nausea, messed up menstrual cycle (fortnight early then nothing again for 5 weeks - never happened before this pill), PMS just as bad if not worse, acne returned before I'd even stopped taking it.

Only got through two and a half strips before I couldn't stand it any more and stopped. I'm miserable (emotionally numb, panicky, anxious, suicidal - I've had problems with depression before but never this bad and not for ages). I'll cry like a loon at the drop of a hat, getting hysterical to the point of having a panic attack. At the moment, I feel sick almost constantly, sometimes even the smell of food makes me want to throw up (which makes me panic about pregnancy even though I'd been taking it flawlessly) and can't bear eating for days at a time. It also made my menstrual cycle IRREGULAR and didn't do anything to make periods lighter/shorter (and they were completely fine before). All of this kicked in pretty much straight away and steadily got worse. Now I've given up on them but I'm scared it will take ages for my moods and cycle to get back to normal, and my acne will get even worse.

Pros:

don't know

Cons:

awful mood swings

decided to go on the pill when I moved in with my boyfriend last month, Doc recommended Dianette as at 28 still have bad skin. Was weary, but after only 12 days, I haven't stopped crying and have been a psychotic demon. Period lasted full week, and still have a show, have had terrible cramps since day one. Have been a blubbering wreck, and just not myself at all! Have decided to change to Yasmin, which will start tomorrow, so fingers crossed that will stop the tears!!! Don't think the boyfriend could cope with me like this much longer!! lol !!! I've no doubt its successful for many, but definitely not for me. Have suffered with depression in the past, and explained this as a concern to my gp when deciding which option to go for, but he thought i'd be fine!! Wish there was some kind of test that could be done in advance to test your hormone levels first to see which one will effect the seratonin levels, as this could be dangerous to those who are vulnerable
