Pros:

I had been on Dianette for a couple of years, and is definately the best treatment for ance that I have fever found.

Cons:

I found that the side effects of mood swings, depression, weight gain and constant sickness feeling, unbearable and decided to come off it. I did go back to Dianette a couple of times, as my spots and oily hair were unmanageable, but the effect on your mood is not worth it.

I would not recommend this treatment, it did clear my skin but was not worth the side effects and damage to my health. My skin and moods have gone back to normal, but it has taken at least a year!

Pros:

Cleared up my acne like nothing else, I had the most beautiful skin - ever!!

Cons:

Bloating, strange emotional states, appetite increases - all of which lead to Bulimia for two whole years while I was on it :-( You WILL have to come off it eventually due to the high dose of hormones and chances are your acne will return to exactly the same state as it was before

I would exercise EXTREME caution to anybody considering using Dianette. In my opinion this is the demon pill which I consider the main causal factor in the development of an eating disorder (Bulimia) in my teens. Once I stopped Dianette I have been able to recover from my ED. The reason is that Dianette makes you feel bloated and fat even when you haven't eaten very much. Coupled with an increased appetite and a teenage girl who is likely to already be concerned about her image (i.e. her skin) and it is a likely recipe for Bulimia. So yes although Dianette does wonders at solving acne problems, it potentially creates more and more complex problems than resolving a couple of spots. If I could go back I would NEVER have used Dianette, despite how beautiful my skin was it simply wasn't worth it. If you think you won't have problems with eating or depression that's fine but just please, please be careful and bear in mind that it can only ever be temporary (max 2 years).

And i am experiencing painful lumps all over my chin ever since. And because of that i was on antibiotics. But now i am on 100 mg spironolactone for a week and i am noticing an effect on the oil secretion though i am still not clear yet.

Pros:

Clears up acne
Reduces oily skin
Reduces blocked pores and blackheads
Contraceptive

Cons:

Contraceptive (Pro and con)
No cons while taking dianette, however after coming off it, I have been having the worst time of my life!

I took dianette for 13 years. Whilst taking it, I thought it was amazing! I never had to worry about acne, I didn't have any, it cleared it up within weeks. Although I was on it for a long time, my doctor told me it was safe, so I continued taking it, as it worked so well. I decided to come off it to give my body a break. Within a couple of weeks, I noticed my skin and hair became extremely oily! My skin would be oily within a couple of hours of cleansing, and same for my hair after shampooing. I started getting some blackheads but nothing major for the first 4 to 5 months. Then after approximately 4 to 5 months my acne started to come back with avengance! In addition to the extreme oiliness, I have moderately severe acne all over my face. I also have gotten really hairy with increased facial hair around the moustache, chin and cheek areas, and also body hair particularly around my nipples. It took 13 months before I started to get periods again after coming off it. I have been tested for PCOS and all came back clear. I am at my wits end. I have tried other things like Zineryt, Duac, Tetralysal, Skinoren since coming off Dianette but nothing has worked. My advice is not to go on it in the first place. While everything might seem ok whilst your taking it, when you come off it, your acne will come back worse than before.

Pros:

cleared skin

Cons:

weight gain
huge, sore breasts
uncomfortable pain in joints

I started taking this pill in school and it worked wonders for me almost instantly. Over the year I was on it though, whilst I gained confidence in the way my skin looked, I hit rock bottom with my body. I went up 2 or 3 dress sizes and didn't lose it for a good 2-3 years afterwards. I also found if I leant on one leg, then it would become really sore all of a sudden. This pain evaporated as soon as I came off Dianette. If you don't mind weight gain, go for it because it completely cleared my skin. Although, I found it cured one problem, but it just created another.

Pros:

Clear Skin

Cons:

when I came off this pill my skin was 100 times worse than it was previously also caused headaches and thrush, and had no sex drive whatso ever

I was on this pill for 7 years....I was put on it when it first came on to the market....I was 18 and I had a some spots on my forehead....not bad enough to be classed as acne but it did bother me so when I mentioned it to my GP I was put on dianette...the spots cleared up with about 2 weeks...and so I decided to stay on it as a contraceptive... 7 years on I decided to come off it after a month my face was covered in acne this must be due to hormones now being completely imbalanced....now I have been off dianette a year my skin is still bad but the acne has cleared up by about 70%....although now I am left with scars on my face and neck....I do not currenly have the money to see a dermatologist so i'm afraid it is just a case of covering myself in make up every day. Bottom line if your acne is so bad that it is having an affect on your life dianette could be an option for you, if you just have a case of some spots that bother you look at other alternatives first

NO!!!
honestly I can not explain how much I would recommend people NOT to go on this drug.. I'm not somebody who usually reads reviews or gets swayed by the reviews people write but honestly I wish I would have listened.. Dianette may have been the WORST drug anybody has ever put me on. It first started when I went to the doctors because my skin was getting more flair ups than usual and it was quite distressing as I had tried antibiotics and also topical treatments.. after the first week of it I felt quite radgy and adgitated and usually I am a happy cheerful person but I just took a horrible turn and became extremely moody anxious and feeling depressed.. and the worst thing was my skin was getting worse and worse and I have never had as bad skin problems.. it was worse than ever before and the reason I went on it was to sort my skin out! after 4 months my skin was almost cystic, I was depressed because of my skin and the hormone effect the drug had taken and to make it even worse I had gained 1 stone. WORST! I would not recommend at all, your body is precious and you should not change your hormones especially if youre a teen dealing with puberty! obviously everybody is different but I wanted to share my story of this because I regret taking this tablet so much!

Pros:

skin less oily.. Less acne.. Clearer skin

Cons:

takes two months to see results
sometimes get headaches

hi guys! I thought i would share my acne story with you.. I started to get oily skin at ten , and by the time i was fourteen, i had full blown acne.. After years of otc treatments, antibiotics, retinoids.. I went on roaccutane at nhneteen, it cleared my skin up amazingly but four months after i came off it.. I started to get some spots. I went to the doc who gave me the pill dianette and isotrex. Isotrex dried up my skin but did clear it, though i have stopped usiog it now. With dianette, i can see that it has definitely made my skin smoother and less spotty and oily, i know that it will take a while to see the results properly. But i can definitely see improvements! Highly recomment it lol x

Pros:

Clear skin, bigger boobs

Cons:

Nausea, indigestion, itchy skin, mood swings, sudden increased appetite, weight gain

My daughter has been on dianette for about three years and thought it was very good for clearing up her acne in a matter of months. However around the same time she started to suffer from itchy skin on her arms and legs and scratched them so much they sometimes bled. She started to put on an extra stone in weight. Then her indigestion pains started on a regular basis with almost constant nausea. Some days she ate hardly anything and then would suddenly get her appetite back and overeat. This cycle has continued all this time. She became very tearful and anxious. Since she came off dianette her nausea and stomach pains have disappeared and her weight is going down. We are all relieved after this roller coaster but she will need to try an alternative pill for her spots which are returning. The moral is, don't suffer unnecessarily. Go back to your doctor and try another pill.
