Pros:

After a day of taking the pills both me and my boyfriend could see an improvement in my skin.

Cons:

On the second day of taking the pills I started feeling sick, then I started vomiting non stop. I had to go to hospital and be given anti sickness tablets. Felt dreadful for the next day.

Badly disagreed with me. Adverse reactions are quite common to erythromycin when taken in pill form. Taking antibotics for a long time in pill for is not good for your body either. However I did see some improvement within just one day, so it might have been great if I hadn't been allergic to it.

Pros:

eventually skin cleared a little

Cons:

takes ages to work
not good on the stomach

This tablet was like taking no tablets had no affect on me what so ever, i took this tablet for 8 months two tablets twice a day. to start with my acne stayed the same(moderate) then after a few months my acne began to flare and it became severe, since then my acne stayed the same, then saw a slight improvement on the eighth month(may just be a washing regime or the fact that it was summer) but really no affect at all.

Pros:

Cleared my 'gram negative folliculitis' within a few days. Taken on a 2month course.

Cons:

Came back a few weeks after treatment.

If it comes back after treatment then whats the point.

Pros:

Clears skin about 25%, and reduces how badly the cystic acne can get, but does not prevent breakouts.

Cons:

Erythromycin taken orally can cause build-up of plaque and yellowing of the teeth, although not permanently. It also causes GI upset, and can affect blood sugar levels.

I have been taking 500mg twice a day for almost 30 days for acne and perioral dermatis, and there is not been much of a noticeable difference in my skin. I continue to have breakouts and although the cystic acne flare-ups are not as severe I am continuing to have them. I am also using topical clindamycin lotion and trentinoin every other day, which is not improving my skin either. I am allergic to tetracycline and drugs or cleansers containing sulfates, so right now I am at a crossroads on what to do to improve my skin. I have adult onset acne, and have had clear skin all of my 40 years, so this is quite discouraging.

Pros:

I have used it for a month and I have seen an improvement in the amount of new pimples but the improvement has only been about 15% so far and im guessing its full effects have not come in yet.

Cons:

the first few days I had an upset stomach and diarrhea.

not to much improvement in a month but since its only been a month i cant say if its really good or not. Oh yeah my body acne has gone down by about 25% but I also started a neutragena body scrub the same time i started this. My parents dont have a prescription plan or whatever its called so its pretty expensive if you dont have that

Pros:

Seems to work well on the main 'cheek' area of the face.

Cons:

Needs to be used with benzol peroxide as does nothing for blackheads. Does not work on neck, back, forehead. Personally..i think im slow to respond to it. Progress is slow. Difficult adapting to light changes (dark to light). I've had chest pains.

Would not recommend it. Feel like i shouldn't have gone on it (6 months into it) as scared of coming off and flaring up worse than before.

Pros:

It's clear, dries fairly quickly, does not overdry the skin

Cons:

When I put face lotion on overtop it, it like clumps into white clumps and I have to pick them off my face. It's strange.

This product is not working for me at all. I used to use Duac but that lost its effectiveness so my doctor put me on 2% Erythromycin topical gel, and I've only been using it for like 5 days, but it's only made my skin worse. Should I give it time? Do any of you guys know if this is the type of medicine that makes skin worse before it gets better? I don't know what to do.

Pros:

Helps make popped pimples heal faster

Cons:

doesn't do anything to prevent pimples from forming
smell is very strong
tube goes pretty fast

**NOTE** this review is for the GEL, not the oral tablets. Luckily, it didn't dry me out or make my skin flaky like it did to some people. But, after a month I am barely seeing any improvement anymore, I am still breaking out ...although it does help for pimples that are just popped, like a spot treatment. Make them turn to a scab and flake off faster. But i need something to help prevent pimples form forming, which this does nothing for!

Pros:

Dries the skin (good if you have oily skin), has no color.

Cons:

Has a bitter taste (bad if you have a girlfriend that likes to lick your face)

As a male, I've had pretty good results with erythromycin (I've also tried Sulfacet but I didn't like the way it makes your skin look more pale, sort of like makeup). Erythromycin does dry your skin if you use too much which can be painful. If you are using this medication and your skin hurts because it's too dry, you may want to consider moving up to something stronger. Ideally, you should be able to apply just enough (very little) of this for twin purposes: 1) to reduce oiliness (part of the cause of acne) 2) to apply the antibiotic to killl the bacteria. Use erythromycin to start off if you've never used another acne medication before.
