Pros:

Cleared acne completely from face as well as back within a couple weeks.

Cons:

stomach cramps, loss of appetite, diarrhea, most of these only last the first month.

I loved it, after around a year some pimples came back but it was way better than what i had before, this can cause you to lose weight for some people thats a plus, but the stomach cramps sucked.

Pros:

Spots are considerably smaller and a lot less red.

Cons:

Skin is slightly more greasy which causes more blackheads sometimes, but i use a gentle daily exfoliator to keep them at bay.

I was really unhappy about my skin, and being 14 and at school, having bad skin isnt good for confidence.. so during the six weeks holidays i went to the doctors and asked for something stronger (i was on doxycycline) and she gave me erythnomycin, two, twice a day, on the NHS its free until a certain age, but i hope my acne has gone by then. I've been on them for nearly 5 weeks now and have seen an improvement, smaller and less spots that are a lot less red. Although, i think my skin is a bit more greasy, but i use a daily gentle exfoliator from neutrogena (sp?) which helps with scars too. I cant wait to get rid of all my acne, back, sholders/arms, chest, neck and face and have that porcalain-perfect look haha .. Plus, it should be taken with or after food to prevent stomach pains, i dont get them at all. I hope this helped, good luck everyone..

Seem to be working
I have only been taking them for a few days but noticed a difference after a day or two of taking them, I havent had an IB from these antibiotics & I havent been breaking out as much already only maybe one little whitehead a day (this is a massive improvement for me!). Ive still got a few breakouts which are healing slowly but its so nice not to be dealing with more breakouts while the other ones go away. My only thing with this antibiotics is DO NOT take it with food that was my biggest mistake after the first day I started to get really bad stomach pains feeling like I was gonna be sick & it really made my stomach bloat and become sore, this lasted about 2 days (sick feeling lasted a day & tenderness of the upper stomach lasted about 2 days). Ive started taking them 1 hour before food or 2 hours after & I havent been getting the side effects anymore but if I did take them with food I would really regret it because the side effects are horrible! So far so good so Im going to keep taking them & hopefully get 100% clear! Ive also been drinking alot of water with them because they make me feel really dry plus ive been having about a spoon full of full fat greek yogurt in the day just to help my stomach to add some good bacteria back, & luckily I havent broken out from eating it and im normally sensitive to dairy. Btw Im also using differin gel every second night all over my face & I take 2 tablets in the morning & 2 at night.

Pros:

Cheap.

Cons:

stomach pains
diarrhea
chest pain

I have moderate persistent acne. I'm very sensitive to basically every oral acne treatment which makes it so hard to cure it. I did accutane but had to stop after two and a half months from ear ringing...it was a godsend but I still had three pimples (because I didn't finish) I asked for Erythromycin because I hadn't tried it yet...the side effects for me is worse than accutane! ha. It gave me muscular skeletal pains when I move my chest. It feels sore....I'm sure this is good for some patients but not for me. For now I'll just continue using the topical Aczone which seems to be doing wonders.

Pros:

Used Eryacne for approx. 2 years, cleared me up within 3 weeks!
Amazing product, definitely worth a try, not too expensive

Cons:

Slightly drying, this being said... used it when I was young and didn't know about moisturiser, so just used this and the eryacne (erythromycin gel) but it worked like a charm!
You will grow resistant like I did... so am searching for something to work as good as this.

Loved it, before it wore off. It works fantastically though!

Pros:

None

Cons:

No improvement in skin. In fact, my acne was worse whilst using Erythromycin (tablets) and Differin (cream) than it had been whilst using Lymecycline.

My acne is not the sort that covers large areas of my face but I do suffer from very large and very deep cystic spots. Given the size, pain and regularity of these I have listed my acne as 'moderately severe' Having used Erythromycin and Differin for just over four months, I am disappointed to say that my acne has not improved at all. In the first week of using these two treatments my skin cleared spectacularly, however, given the speed at which this happened I believe that this 'clear period' was merely coincidental. I have had numerous periods where my skin has been clear, however, this was also the case whilst using my previous treatment (Lymecycline tablets) so in that respect Erythromycin has brought about little improvement. These periods of clear skin would rarely last longer than two or three days and I would estimate that throughout the four months of me using these treatments, I have, in total, had clear skin for less that two weeks.

Pros:

Cheap if you have decent prescription coverage

Cons:

I have only been on the pills (2 times a day 250 mg) for 2 weeks so this review may be a little premature but I have been sick the whole time I've been on this antibiotic and I take it with food
I was on cephalexin prior and it worked wonders but my derm said its not good to take long term so he put me on erythromycin and I started breaking out again. I am going to start increasing the dosage to see if that helps

Antibiotics are great for cystic acne but bad for your body in the long run. Unfortunately, topical creams don't typically work for those individuals with cystic acne so this is our best bet. I am Just worried after all these years of being on antibiotics (different kinds) that I'm doing some major damage Hopefully my face will clear up again but for now it went back to its old ways - ill give it another month before I make a decision to pull the plug on this med

Pros:

I have bad acne. This med. cleared nearly all of it up.

Cons:

Tough on stomach.

I have taken it for years because it works. But how much longer? Too scared of accutane...
