I'm currently taking ziana while on doxycycline. It started making me break out a lot more than before but that's what's supposed to happen (so says my derm.) Let's hope it works!

Someone please help
I'm 17 years old and have struggled with mild to moderate acne since i was about 12 or 13. It goes in cycles where it will be really bad, then decent, then awful again. I've been applying ziana for probably about a week now. Before i applied it, the right side of my face was almost completely clear, but the left side had a cluster of acne that i couldn't get rid of. Ever since I've applied it my skin has been horribly breaking out more than it ever has before and it' even breaking out on my forehead where I haven't applied it. This new acne makes me extremely insecure to the point of tears. I don't even want to look in a mirror and I'm constantly thinking about it. I've read that I should just stick with it and that it will clear my skin eventually, but honestly right now it's really hard to stay motivated. I'm too a point where I don't want to leave my house to see my friends because i feel like all they'll see are the bumps on my face. Someone please help I don't know if my face is just purging really bad or if i should stop using it.

A little too irritating for me.
Decided to give it a shot after my derm wanted to switch me from clindamycin phosphate.Turns out the skin peeling is little too much for me.However dries up the worst of zits pretty quickly.

Pros:

Almost all clear!

Cons:

Burning, peeling, itching, soreness, initial breakout, made scars stand out

The first few weeks I used Ziana, I definitely thought that I was going to quit. I have used tretinoin in the past and it did not work out. I was extremely nervous when my derm prescribed me this (I have very fair and sensitive skin). At first I experienced a major breakout within a week. It was horrible. My skin got extremely oily and then dried out. It itched and stung. My face was sore to the touch. But, now about four weeks later my skin is way better. I still have a few tiny bumps and my scars seem to stand out more, but hopefully they will start to fade. One thing to note it that this product is very thin and runs out of the tube easily, so you can end up putting too much on. You want to use as small amount as possible and I only use at night. I mix it with a fragrance free and dye free lotion to get it to spread easier. Overall I'm very happy, but I think that I'll probably end up switching to something else once the card runs out because my insurance doesn't cover it.

Pros:

Helps clear up already existing pimples quickly and is easy to use.

Cons:

It is expensive, it didn't prevent my acne from forming and caused me to have break outs worse then before.

This product was really good for treating big, red and inflamed pimples. It reduced the swelling withing a few hours of applying it to the infected site. However it has really made my face break out since it doesn't seem to be preventing my break outs from occurring. I only applied it once a day like the doctor said and it caused itchy dry patches on my face (which I know is common with these acne topical treatments). In my opinion it isn't worth the money.

Pros:

Got the rebate card, cleared skin a bit. No itching, flaking, drying, or redness.

Cons:

Have not used it long enough, made me breakout, oily skin throughout the day, gel smells

I have not used ziana enough to really see the full results, I just hope that I am not using this for nothing. It has been exactly 5 weeks. I dont think I will judge it entirely until I have reached 8 weeks of treatment. I am using this at night with a benzoyl peroxide gel in the morning.

Pros:

i just started using, so i have hi hopes! people here say its doing a fine job

Cons:

It does make your acne worse, the first couple of weeks. You just have to stick to your guns and ride it through.

An acne product that makes acne worse?? well it was explained to me that it kind of gathers all the oil on your face, body concentrates it there then it disperses leaving less oil. (think of how the death star fires, it charges then shoots). SO yeah it does suck having worse acne then when i started, but ill hold out and see if it works. The only downside is, its not that flattering and its California, everybody here is a critic lol.

Pros:

Less oily skin

Cons:

very expensive

It has already started to work after two weeks and nothing i have ever tried has worked this fast.

Pros:

Works very fast, decent smell

Cons:

I found it took a while to work. Very expensive without insurance.

At first it made my acne 100x worse, but after the first inital week it started to subside. Week two my skin started to actually clear up. I'm on week 3 now and my acne is starting to look worse again. I dried out a little but I'm getting used to it. Hopefully by next week it'll kick into high gear.
