Clears skin but makes it SO OILY
I'm a 20 y/o female with mild acne and very occasional cysts only on left cheek. I started using Ziana after Epiduo was way too drying for me. I've been using it for about a month and a half. Ziana is not drying at all, and has definitely helped with some minor spots, but I noticed that throughout the day my skin gets RIDICULOUSLY GREASY. Like unbelievably shiny...makeup looks terrible. I use Ziana before bed, wake up and my face isn't oily at all, but throughout the day it becomes so oily. One of those oil blotting sheets from Clean & Clear is literally transparent after I wipe my face with it. So I've decided to stop using Ziana and instead try Drunk Elephant AHA serum!

Pros:

Helped calm down my acne the second time I used it.

Cons:

See Bottom Line

Honestly, only use this product and other retinoids (Differin, Atralin, etc.) only if you ABSOLUTELY, ABSOLUTELY, ABSOLUTELY have to AND if you see that your skin responds to it in a non-crazy way. The benefits don't always outweigh the side effects.

Pros:

It clears up the pimples and keeps them under control. It also lightened some of the scars from previous pimples.

Cons:

Price was extremely high with perscription, (also we switched insurance so it doesn't cover perscriptions, so i may only have had the price issue because of this. Not a lot of gel in the tube and takes a while to work.

Ziana gel, is a big step up from gels you can buy from CVS and Wallgreens without a perscription. It works fairly quickly, however in my case it works very well for the first few days, clearing everything up, and then it begins to work much much slower as my skin gets used to it. It lightens some scars left over by previous acne. The price was very high, almost as much as a pair of shoes so that was a little dissapointing, but I think had i not switched insurances and had prescription coverage it would have been more affordable.

Pros:

seems like it worked at first

Cons:

very expensive, lots of peeling

I loved this at first but now that I'm almost 4 weeks in, my acne seems bad again. I use it three times a week to minimize the peeling (per my derm). It's hard to wear face make-up with the peely skin, I keep holding out that it hopefully gets better soon! My dermatologist swore by this product to help my acne plus the surface of my skin. I'm 37

Pros:

Have seen some improvement in the frequency of breakouts. Did not irritate my skin as other retinoids have in the past. Seems to speed the healing process.

Cons:

My skin went from bad to horrific during the first 4-5 weeks of using this product, which is why I rated it a "3" for how well it works.

Be prepared to have your patience tested. I have been on Ziana for about six weeks now, and have only noticed positive results within the last two weeks. My initial breakout was so bad that I now have a face full of red marks that are still painful to look at. Thankfully they do cover easily with make-up. I will admit that the improvements I am now noticing are happening rather quickly. Once the marks fade, which they have already done considerably, I will be really pleased with the results. See if you dermatologist has any loyalty coupons they can give you. That, coupled with my insurance, made the cost of a 60 g tube $35.00.

Pros:

Wow! This stuff is amazing. It has helped me see resuts in just one week of use.

Cons:

it gave me a small rash at first, some burning and stinging.

It seems to be the best thing i have tried thus far. I am throughly impressed, it causes some redness, burning and stinging but i will take that to get acne free skin. Make sure to get a manufacturers coupon from your Dermatologist! I paid only 5 dollars with this.

Pros:

Smoother skin in one week.

Cons:

Oily skin. Purging.

I can feel that this stuff has already started to help my acne in one week. It is not really that noticable, bc I still have alot of red marks, but Ive noticed that it brings pimples to the surface in the form of smaller whiteheads. Use it at night because it causes skin to clear out oil and impurities. I think that after about 4-6 weeks my skin will be noticeably clearer. Persistence is key with this stuff.
