Pros:

I am taking a break from it. Read cons for reasons

Cons:

It seemed to be working the first week, my face did not get irritated or dry, however the more i used it, my face became red (irritated), and dry as well. and it with the continued use (about 2 week) it started to burn when i used the lotion/toner.

i think im going to wait another few days until the redness goes away, and see what happens then. if it doesnt dry out or get irritated again, ill stick with it to see if it works

Pros:

Only the refining mask works! It reduces size and redness overnight, noticably. It also completely gets rid of an upcoming pimple that you can feel.

Cons:

Toner and face wash don't work AT ALL. I don't have sensitive skin, and it made my skin flaky and dry and even redder. It made my acne worse, and i saw no improvement after 1 month. It even broke me out where i never had any acne!

I do not recommend this kit, however the refining mask does work pretty well. I imagine if you have sensitive skin, this will ruin your skin.

Not worth the pain not worth the $$$$$
I have been struggling with acne ever since i hit puberty and my skin did a complete flip-flop. I went from clear skin to a few chin or nose pimples to where we start the story. I had been using different oil free face wash/Noxzema/cheap cleaners and noticed my face was really breaking out, my makeup i wore everyday also did not help the case. But i was also eating really bad at this time too. My skin is clear from the eyes down but on my forehead i get large bright red bumps, and brown scars. I couldn ´t get by with the old mosquito bite excuse, so my mom splurged and bought me the Proactiv 3 step system. I also got the Skin Purifying Mask which in my opinion helped to cool and calm acne spots. The system worked for the first month, and they charged me for a second 90-day treatment. My break down of the 3 step system Skin Exfoliating face wash- It is much too harsh for acne spots, especially cystic acne or large pimples because it burns open sores scratched sensitive skin. I noticed also after i used it that my skin was so dry and tight and seemed to have lost all of its elasticity. Pore Targeting treatment- This is the best of the three, it contains benzoyl peroxide which is one of the best treatments for acne. This i felt did the job in penetrating to the root of the acne problem the pore. Complexion Perfecting Hydrator- This was an iffy product, it burned my skin and dried it out SO much. Rough acne(one that is hot and tingly and burning) and this ¨moisturizer ¨ should not be together. It literally numbs my face and that ´s funny because it does not even hydrate my skin like it claims to. OVERALL- I do not suggest wasting 25 dollars on the 3 step system because only one product works average. Its too harsh and it feels to chemically made, if i were you and im struggling with acne i would suggest ST. Ives, Neutrogena or OLAY Fresh Effects, homemade products, or seeing a dermatologist.

Old Formula is Decent
I've tried the older formula, which had mixed results as it caused my face acne to worsen (from step 2 and 3). The only thing I would say is decent is the Repair Treatment (Step 3), but, when I used to use Proactive, you had to buy all three. The Repair treatment, which is benzoyl peroxide, is a ripoff since it's a tiny bottle, forcing you to keep buying Proactive many times each year. You get a much better bargain from Acne.org Benzoyl Peroxide since it's a huge bottle and gentler on your skin. The other two steps of Proactive worsened acne, so I ended up using the Repair treatment, which is simply benzoyl peroxide. Proactive is $20-30, but that lasts a few months (even their larger bottle versions), while The Regimen is $45 and lasts 6 months (depending on how often you use it). If I were to compare the main ingredients (benzoyl peroxide), then The Regimen would beat Proactive, again. It's also extremely difficult to cancel your every 3 month renewal of Proactive (ships to you every 3 months, since it runs out at that point). They'll keep charging you and sending it, even when you cancel it. Untrustworthy company and a scam that uses celebrities to sell their product.

I meant step 1 and 2, not 2 and 3 (in first sentence).

Pros:

- easy to use
- baby-powder smell
- refining mask
- lasts a few months per package
- 2.5% benzoyl peroxide

Cons:

- expensive
- makes acne worse in the beginning
- leaves skin flaky and dry after prolonged use
- doesn't work for more severe acne
- doesn't help heal scarring
- can bleach clothing and towels

For years I had wanted to try Proactiv Solution, and I must say I am very disappointed with it. My mom picked it up for me one day and I have been using it every night since then (approx. 3 months). At first, I really liked it - the cleanser had ex-foliating beads, the toner didn't have alcohol in it, and the lotion wasn't oily. Also, the scent is almost like baby-powder, which I didn't mind. We also knew that the benzoyl peroxide was capable of bleaching, so that didn't create a problem. I know they mention that your acne will get worse before it gets better (which did happen) but I really didn't expect it to get SO bad. As of now I have little to no active acne, but I have added scars from the worsening. And nothing in the combo therapy helps with scars! That was probably the killer for me. It also made my skin dry and flaky after these months - even though I only used it once per day. I never used to have dry skin (usually quite oily) but I now have combo skin. I will finish what product I have left but will not be buying more.

Pros:

none. well, the bottles were nice and sturdy I suppose

Cons:

it made my skin literally start to peel off. I'm very active in sports so my skin would get oily and break out and this didn't help at all. it hurt so much. I also talked to a good friend of mine & she said it made HER skin peel off, too.

unless you want to start losing your face and look like a burn victim, do not use this product!!

Pros:

Feels fresh

Cons:

Funky smell, refining mask doesn't work

I've been using proactive for almost 2 years now and it doesn't really seem to clear zits. It takes awhile for the zits to go away, and then when they are finally gone, new ones just pop up. I wouldn't recommend this product to others because it's not very reliable.

Pros:

-Temporarily clears skin but not completely.
(I've used proactiv several times and it will start to work but within a month or 2, my acne would resurface.)

Cons:

-Expensive
-Only worked temporarily
-Uses harsh chemicals that bleach my towels. If something is strong enough to bleach a towel, what is it doing to my skin?
-The 4 step system should actually be a 5 step system if you wear makeup. If you use the cleanser with make up on, you are essentially rubbing the makeup into your pores because it contains exfoliating beads.

Proactiv does so well because of it's amazing marketing - not because it's a truley great product. I think that this product can help people with their mild acne but I don't see it as a long term solution because who wants to keep putting those chemicals on their face their whole life? The employees don't tell you that you need to remove makeup before using the 4 step system - so for a while my acne was getting worse. Proctiv focuses on drying out the skin - but a lot of acne is cause by dehydration. Hydrating the body and the skin is key - we shouldn't be afraid to moisturize and nourish the skin. Proactiv cleanser beads actually irritate inflamed skin. it's not gentle. my skin was red after using it - a warning sign right off the bat. I give proactiv 2 stars because it did help my acne a bit but the cons outweigh the pros.

Pros:

skin felt smooth but did not look luminous at all

Cons:

drying, flaking, itchy, breakouts

Not worth the money! Over complicated process makes your face feel like a mask. If anytthing made my pimples worse. Took over a week when I left a pimple alone and just applied the lotions/masks/toner/cleanserand still not completely cleared up! I even bought the moisture plus...still really really drying.

Pros:

skin was mostly smooth, but did not help cystic acne whatsoever.

Cons:

reparing treatment dried my skin out if i used it too much, even with moisturizer. didn't work after using it for 6 or 7 weeks overall. too much work every morning and every night.

Didn't work for my type of skin or acne, but I have read about it working for others. I think it's worth a shot if you've got the money and time to use it, but I wouldn't recommend it for clearing up those deep, under the skin pimples that last a whole week or two.
