Pros:

It did eventually clear up some of my acne

Cons:

It didnt cure my hormonal or cystic acne.

I went through 2 one month supplies of proactiv. So, i obviously used this product for 2 months..i would recommend this product if you only suffer from little white head, but if you suffer from cystic acne or hormonal acne this may not work for you. I never felt as though it was really working for me though. It was like i wasnt even using it.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Way too expensive
Made my face shine like a looking glass
Irritated my skin
I had acne in places I never had them before
Bad customer service

I was so excited to start using proactive. I wrote the start date down and I followed all the instructions. After a week my face was so oily that people can see their own image when they look closely at me. I continued to use the product hoping it would get better. After a month, I eventually stopped using the daily oil control. I eventually started getting pimples under my chin and around my left and right check. Two months now into the product I had acne and spots all over. One morning I work up and eventually threw the products away. I went back to using Ziana at nights and Neutrogena during the day. Thank goodness my face is starting to look great again. Never would I try Proactive again! When I called CS to ask them to stop sending me shipment and refund my account, the rep hung up on me. (Shame on them) they continued to charge my account and I felt helpless. I filed dispute with my bank and got refunded. However, proactive sent me a bill in the mail for all the charges that were refunded by my bank. I finally sent a letter stating that I am going to file a lawsuit. I am waiting on the outcome.

Pros:

-benzyl peroxide and toner were good

Cons:

-expensive
-cleaner was too harsh
-the company makes it hard to stop your auto-renewal payments

Proactive is just not worth the money. I'm convinced the only reason it's famous is because the company spends millions of dollars in marketing the heck out of it. I didn't even use the cleanser in the set because it was much too drying for my skin. I did like their benzyl peroxide product but Dan's Acne.org product is better.

Pros:

Some products are kind of nice on the skin. This may help if your acne is very mild

Cons:

Doesn't do anything for moderate to severe acne and is slightly drying.

I used this for over 6 months a while back and although it was kind of nice on my skin and there were a few products I may put into my routine once my acne is cleared up - it did nothing for my acne. I am using the DC system now which is actually helping and after the acne is gone I will continue with their topicals and maybe proactiv's mask.

Pros:

Clears skin for a period of time.

Cons:

Stops working, skin doesn't look healthy, expensive, toner runs out faster than the other products, too much hassle to keep re-ordering on time.

I used Proactiv before, it stopped working after the third month so I stopped using it. Two years later I decided to give it another try and the same thing happened, I'm going to buy one more set to hold me off until my acne.org regimen arrives. Hopefully it works better than Proactiv.

Pros:

Clears some areas for few days

Cons:

stings, dries skin out, only works for a little while and then makes it worse. It's waaay over priced

Don't waste your money on something that is going to make you red and inflamed.

Much Like Many a Lover....I Wanted to Believe.
Oh Proactive. I remember my mom loving Proactive when she was like 30 and I was 9. I should have understood then. I got my first zit in the 5th grade. By 8th grade it was so out of control my loving mother knew something like proactive wouldn't clear up what was happening to my skin so by 14 I was on my first round of accutane. Flash forward to 24 and I have two rounds of accutane behind me and one serious passion for skincare. Around 20 I started breaking out again. I didn't want to do accutane again though. I really didn't. Plus my breakouts were like average people breakouts. The kind everyone has that looks much worse in the mirror than it does in real life. So I started researching. I also fell in love with YOUTUBE. I moved to California from New England at 22 and my skin freaked out about it. Like oily all the time. And my already panicked skin was like really at its breaking point. So I was like you know what worked for LA based Adam Levine? PROACTIVE. Lets do that. So I did. Even though I was like really broke. Anyways, I bought proactive and was immediately in love with it like I am 99% of new products (or partners). However, the thing that I think really bums me out about Proactive is how drying it is. I think this is why it works so well for teenagers in high school but falls short for 22 year old me or my 30 year old mother back in the day. The benzoyl peroxide is dope though. Seriously, everyone knows BP runs town of Salcylic. But literally the pore targeting part of the second wave kit is the best part because the cleanser and moisturizer is just too harsh. Basically, this isn't a holy grail. We all want to believe Julianne Hough...but she's wrong. You can spend your money much more effectively. Seriously. Here is the best HOT TAKE I can give on this system: it's too drying. Even if it clears up your normal lightly spotted skin- it will damage the moisture of it. Additionally, if you do have wicked acne prone skin like me, yeah it will dry them out...but then dry you up, so you'll produce more oil...and break out. If Cassandra Bankson doesn't reccommend it...then I'm not into it. If you INSIST on using proactive, stick to that Benzoyl Peroxide Pore Targeting Treatment (it's number two in the kit). That stuff and a good moisturizer is truly fantastic.

Pros:

Actually did work for a while

Cons:

Bleached everything it touched with no warnings on the bottles about this.

I first used this back in 2001. Ordered it thinking it would be a waste of money. Used it consistantly for 2 weeks and my skin did clear and smooth out better than it had been in over 10 years. I was so happy to have found this stuff!! But, after about 2 months the zits were back and there was no stopping them. The Proactive made no difference but I kept using it. Used it pretty consistantly for about 2 years but the pimples were always there regardless. I finally cancelled. Another bad thing about back then was I ruined so many of our good towels and my clothes with bleach spots. My wife and I could not figure out what was going on. We tested the proactive on an already ruined towel and realized what I had been doing for weeks and not known it. I destroyed some expensive clothes and there is now way to fix that. Countless towels too, even a tablecloth. My wife was going to kill me. Proactive is like anything else we use on our bodies. After a while your body adjusts to it and it loses its effectivness. Shampoo, deodorant, lotions, all do the same. You have to switch things up every other month. The woman who cuts my hair explained this to me, change shampoo every other week to keep you hair clean, is what she told me. Now I do this and buy two different brands and switch back and forth. Change deodorants and toothpaste every month too. Proactive worked for a short time for me but then stopped. Hard to say if it will work for you.
