Pros:

It got rid of my acne for a while.

Cons:

If you stop using it you get MAJOR BREAK OUTS
Drys out your skin really badly,at one point I looked like an old man and im 14 -.-

It clears your acne for a while,but even missing one day you get a break out. It dries out your skin past the point of getting help from any moisturizer

Pros:

None.

Cons:

Cost, ineffectiveness.

Though the product is designed to work in conjunction with Proactiv's "unique blend" of additives ("enhancements", and I use the term loosely), the active ingredient nonetheless remains Benzoyl Peroxide. These enhancements, the modality of which are not FDA approved (rubbing tea leaves on my face is supposed to help how?), are designed to increase cell turnover and absorption rates, and promote "spalling" and penetration. While effective for some, they are ineffective -- if not counterproductive -- for most. Get yourself a nice soap, a tube of Benzoyl Peroxide, some hydrocortisone; and a light, water-based, non-comedogenic lotion. You'll see better results in better time at half the cost.

Pros:

My Freshman year in high school, around Christmans time, my face exploded. I had severe acne on the sides of my face. I got proactive and I was completely clear for about a year.

Cons:

Summer of my sophomore year I started breaking out a little bit again. I must have started becoming immune to it. from then on I always had a few zits. So I stoped using proactive and not my face is 10 times worse than it was when i never used it.

Works for a little while but if you stop using it your live will be hell.

Pros:

Makes my skin soft and feel clean. Worked for the first couple years using it.

Cons:

Does not work any longer after years of using. Skin breaks out more then ever now and have been useing proactiv for over 5 years. Does not stop new break outs and does not reduce how often break outs happen.

Was good in the begining, but now does not work any longer.

Old to the New
I started using the old proactiv a couple of years ago. It was okay, I mean but overall it dried my skin out alot so I would often moisturize more and it would not be good since my skin is combination and oily so usually where there were dry patches, the whole part of the skin next to it would be oily, so that didn't really help. It also dried my skin out to the point where there were no pimples, yes, but through this it made my skin darker than it used to be, even the spots appeared darker. So I also ordered the new proactiv+ a couple of months ago in hopes for a newer and updated product and it caused me more breakouts and redness. So all in all proactv with me is like really dry, dark patchy skin or breakout skin with no significant healing of scars.

Pros:

* Worked for the first week
* Left skin feeling fresh
* Overnight mask was alright

Cons:

* Loses effectiveness over time
* Can dry out/irritate skin
* Not worth the price

In my experience, Proactive was an ok product at best. It did leave my skin feeling cleaner, but overtime I lost that feeling. Proactive improved my skin for about a week, then stopped working. My acne is pretty stubborn and resistant, and Proactive just couldn't deliver. If you have oily acne-prone skin, I would not recommend this product. Chances are, it will do little more than leave your face feeling fresh, and it doesn't even do that well. It might work for others with less severe acne, but I don't think it's worth the amount of money it costs.

Pros:

makes skin soft and feels clean and hydrated

Cons:

broke me out worse than before

I have tried this product three times on and off in my life hoping to see different results. The third time I got it because I didn't stick with it long enough the other two times. The third time I stuck with it for 8 weeks and it just kept getting worse and worse!! I called the hotline and asked what the deal was and they said I as prolly allergic to the benzol peroxide and they'd send me their washes with salicydic acid instead. By that time I had already dumped enough money into their product (I bought everything right down to their oil absorbing sheets hoping it would work if I used their products exclusively). I was very disappointed so I ended up goingto the dermatologist and am getting results now w/oral antibiotic and facial creams. It may work for some cause I have heard of ppl who say it really worked for them..I think it depends on your type of skin and your type of acne. If you dare to try it you have to stick with it though to truly figure out if it works for you. I personally wouldn't recommend this product, I would say if it's that bad just got to your derm.
