Pros:

If started before acne even appears it definately will prevent any acne from appearing. Strong prescription type BP in the wash and lotion/moisturizers which prevents bacteria from entering pores.

Cons:

Once you start Proactiv it's almost impossible to stop using it. Your skin becomes use to the ingredients (BP) and once stopped acne will be worse than when you started.

I started using Proactiv in 6th grade as recommended by a friend and initially was glad I started using it before I even had acne. I rarely had any pimples and if I did i just put the refining mask on it and it went away over night. It seemed like a miracle. Then i decided that I would stop using it because it was soooo expensive and it seemed like a didn't need it. BAD DECISON!!! About two weeks after I stopped using it my forehead was covered with blackheads and I was starting to get whiteheads on my cheeks. I figured I just had to get accustomed to my new face wash, but instead I was just setting myself up for worse acne to come. About a month later I had at least 10 huge painful zits a day all because I stopped using proactiv. I was still washing my face with an acne face wash yet I was still getting acne. I later bought proactiv again and after about 4 months of painful acne and hoping that it would get better my face is almost back to normal except for a few acne scars. Bottom line, don't stop proactiv once you start!!

Pros:

None

Cons:

Really dry skin in the beginning, but your skin does get used to the product.

Thought in the beginning it was working, but after 4 months my skin is worse than ever. Expensive - don't waste your money. Also, the service from the company is horrendous, the worst I have ever experienced from an onlince company. My daughter on the other hand, has had great success with the product.

Pros:

The Refining Mask
The Toner

Cons:

Too expensive for todays's economy

EyI first started using Proactive when it first ameo on the scene. Nothing else worked Proactiv did .... back then. Now they've watered it down and it does NOTHING for my face. Imagine my disappointment. Outta $60 and still have the same problem. Neutrogena Rapid Cleanse surpasses Proactive's promises as far as the cleanser goes. Plus it's only $9 at any drug store. However Proactive does have other products that are excellent in conjunction w/ other cleansers

Pros:

I started using Proactiv in 1996. I loved the product. I had only wished I had found it as a teenager. The pros long-term are not worth my experience with the company.

Cons:

I have recently discontinued using all products by Proactiv for a couple of reasons. The main reason is the treatment I received after being a longtime customer, being threatened to be sent to collections for someone who dropped the ball on the company's side. My daughter and I have both discontinued the use of this product. We have found Oil of Olay Regenerist Detox Pore Scrub. It is the BEST, EVEN BETTER THAN PROACTIVE AND MUCH LESS EXPENSIVE, $5.00.

Don't bother with PA, not worth the hassel and bad treatment you will recieve for being a loyal customer. Oil of Olay products, much less expensive and no surprises. I had clogged pores that PA helped but never got rid off. I used Oil of Olay Anti-Aging Regenerist Pore Scrub and noticed a huge difference after a few days. I have used it now for a month and all clogged pores are gone, skin is very smooth. It is FANTASIC..... Also using the night firm moisture cream, no breakouts, no clogged pores and much softer skin. Can't wait to try the rest of their products.

Pros:

+Cleared my acne in a month in a really good way
+Left my face feeling nice and clean
+None of that 'tight' feeling

Cons:

+ Unfortunately, this was just too harsh and absolutely destroyed my skin. It was red, broke out in rashes, super super dry, it created horrible scars from my acne. All and all, my skin was clear but looked worse then it did with acne.

I was so disappointed! I heard that this didn't work and when I started it myself and saw it working and I was so happy! Then the problems started. My skin started reacting really badly to it, and i started getting weird rashes, it got so dry my skin would crack if i smiled, and it also went crazy with scars for some strange reason. It took me months to get my skin back to normal, and due to the fact that I had to focus on retaining moisture, I had to stop using anti-acne products. This meant my skin was no longer hideously dry, but my acne got so much worse.

Pros:

Gives face a glow
Clears up acne intially
Pretty good refining mask

Cons:

Over dries and tightens face
As soon as i stopped using it broke out again
Very expensive
Causes redness if used too often

This product is way to expensive and the advertisements suckered me into thinking it was soo glorious but in fact isn't. Huge waste of money and barely any help on thing good about it is the refining mask but it smells really strong.

Pros:

my skin is better than when i don't use, it does effectively clear up mild acne at times.

Cons:

-HAD to use it twice a day, if i skipped even once id see breakouts
-still didnt keep my skin totally clear, I still got a big zit every often enough to cause frustration, even when I was using it twice a day regulary

Not worth the money. I used proactiv for a long long time, about 6 years. Before I used it I would have acne around my mouth and on my chin at ALL times. When I started using proactiv there would be times when my face was totally clear, but I would still get breakouts that drove me nuts, especially when paying the high price. Not worth the time (takes about 10 minutes to do, a pain when you have to do it every night and you are tired) either.

Pros:

The toner did not irritate the skin. It was actually kind of nice, but definitely not effective at really doing anything about the acne itself.

There is a low percentage of benzoyl peroxide

Cons:

The cleanser has micro-beads in it that literally rip your face apart and the directions state to actually rub them into your skin for up to 2 minutes which is suicide.

The benzoyl peroxide is too thin to really glob on like you need to for it to be really effective. Plus, it is too much like a lotion. It needs to dry really nicely after you put it on before the moisturizer.

The moisturizer does not moisturize well enough. You also have to apply SPF no matter what.

Caused irritation like nothing else. Constantly following this regimen routinely caused face to be in shreds. Had to take breaks to let it heal from the irritation and burning. Acne never got a whole lot worse, but it never got better either. Why spend so much money on ProActiv that only irritates your skin when you can buy acne.org for next to nothing and get cleared up fast?!
