You might want to try to get a small amount of jojoba and test it out first because it can cause breakouts. It either works great for you or it doesn't work. If jojoba oil does break you out, you might want to try grapeseed oil or EVOO. You can find these oils probably at your local health food store.
In your experience could my grapeseed combo be breaking me out?? I just got thru cycle and had more acne than usual.... They heal real fast, but like yesterday I did my OCM and this morning woke up with a huge cyst on my face... It is not even noticeable, it is under the skin and sore as HELL!! I've been doing my mix for 3 wks with ok results... some purging but overall good results...my oiliness is gone.... none even in the morning!! And no need for toners or anything - my skin feels soooo soft!!
Also CCASS if u are still listening..... That MaMa lotion.... how do I use it?? Do u use it all over?? Or as a spot treatment?? Do u wash it off??
Thanks in advance
hey hun,
ok so mama lotion is a treatment lotion use it after your cleansing routine ALL OVER face neck decollete*. DO NOT WASH OFF!! Let it soak in and then you may want to moisterize* after depending how dry your skin gets. Use every night at first then once your skin gets used to the ingr. use in the morn as well!
btw i've been reading your posts.. im a little concerned lol ( scolding much?? )
Jojoba really works and i hope u get a chance to try it. It has the UNIQUE ability to pentrate the horny layer and can really reach pores the best! Try mixing it with you castor if you have that pus-y-inflammed acne, if clogged pores is your issue try just jojoba guys! You dont want to over complicate skin care if you can help it! ttyl
* sorry for the spelling errors im horrible at it:)
haha

Bump for this method. I've only been using it for about 2 weeks, but it's working very nicely so far. I still have to get my perfect oil mixture down. I want to switch from olive oil to grapeseed or jojoba oil, but I can't find grapeseed oil and jojoba oil is pretty expensive.
I think a few people complained about this method breaking them out in two or three days after they started it. If that's the case, it wasn't the OCM that caused your breakouts. Acne does not form overnight. It takes 2-3 weeks to form.
niceeee
I'm still using OCM, except now I don't even wash it off. I was getting really flaky with castor oil and olive oil yet it didnt solve my greasy skin. Since then i switched to just jojoba oil. I started massaging at first, but dont anymore and just leave it on. Problem is i still don't see a difference.
Ccass, you mentioned that hyloronic acid should be used for greasy skin. How does that work?
I'm considering trying some other alternatives, any help would be really appreciated

why would u leave it on?? are you telling me that u just slap some jojoba on your dirty skin?
so your leaving pollution bacteria grease and dirt from the day on yur face? No wonder its not working.
Use the jojoba as an oil dissolving cleanser, wash it off then follow with a great water soluble cleanser with aha/bha like md fortes cleansers.
then follow with a lotion appropriate for your skin.
hy. acid is gr8 for oily skin that is water dry.
how do u know if your skin is water dry?
is your skin oily but still flaky and tight after washing?
ur water dry.
i suggest going to dermstore.com and find a product that has hy. acid high on the list of ing. without alot of oils that could just make your face greasy
good luck!!
Well, it's been nearly a week since I started the OCM. I'm not seeing big results but that's mostly because my period started and I always get zits beforehand. My skin is so much more moisturized though, a big plus. It makes for better makeup application so I can cover up any red marks. I'm hoping that the grape seed oil will help speed along the healing process of any acne and acne scars that I have. I switched after a couple days to moisturizing with gso after OCM. My other moisturizer was starting to feel too chemical to my face.
Sorry I didnt have the time to read 10 pages to see if someone already asked but...
What is the technical aspect of applying this technique. I'm hearing use this much of this oil and use some cleanser to do something whatever time. blah blah
What is the point? It's relative to everybody so we need relative suggestions. Like this is the way I see it, its probabbly wrong but please correct it. You massage the oil in your face till your sure the oils you applied have mixed in with your face oils completely. Then use some other technique (ive heard various techniques in removing, some faster than others) but all techniques probly work in their rightful proportions. So im thinking you use whatever method to remove this oil from your skin but only remove 50-75% of it? leaving the rest to moisturize your skin? or is it a full 100% leaving your skin dry (dry can be flakey skin for some, and just regular dry for some), so you need moisturizer now? This makes no sense to me, im sorry. What the difference between this and using some cleanser to take the oils off and putting the moisturizer?
The only way the oil cleansing method would be different from regular cleansing methods is if you choose to leave some of that oil in your face, thereby telling your mind that the skin is already moisturized so there will be no need to produce more oil.. and in time making you less oily.
Please edit my post, I just have an idea of this, but I wish some of you that do would explain in far more detail. The original post never suggested any chemical moisturizers, so atleast that makes sense but some other posts suggested moisturizers which make no sense to me.

Hi ccass, and thanks for your reply.
I'd wash with just hot water and leave the jojoba on overnight because i'd get really flaky in the morning, and during the day it would become greasy. So as you point out I am water dry. So if I could use a product with hyaluronic acid as a moisturiser, and do the OCM as normal you think I'd be ok? I don't normally go for expensive products, but since I've tried virtually everything already. I find it's hard to find the time to massage it and wash it off afterwards. I've tried it a few times, but the blackheads still stay. Maybe I could do it in the morning for 5 minutes, then shower it off?
So far the only thing I've found to get rid of the greasy look is washing with hot water several times during the day or talcum powder. Maybe this just makes it even worse. I've tried lemon juice too, to no real effect.

I think it's just a silly fad. I wouldn't take it too seriously.

And THAT is the silliest idea ever to be promoted on this site (I'm not referring to YOU, just the people who have talked about that idea over the years). That theory has been soundly refuted.

LOL I wish I could help you but I really have no idea. I'm the kid who's been PMing you for help Anyways, each time you steam, how long do you steam for? 5 minutes?
First, I dont know why people are spreading aroud thise notion of oil based cleansing is the be all end all.. OIL CLEANSING ALON WILL NOT CURE ACNE! lol
what it does do is removes oil, make up penetrete the stratum corneum and can help dissolve or loosen up hardened oily plugs, being more effective to removing oil and less abrasive and irratating then a detergent based cleanser. For a traditional dtergent water based cleanser to be effective it uses serfacants whick strip and can potentially irratate ur skin. Double cleanse:
Using a pre cleanse of oil based materail to remove oily substances from you skin, and then using a gentl NON DETERGENT BASED WATER SOLUBLE CLEANSER to remove the left over oil retore ph and utilize EFFECTIVE ingr. to deep clean without added irratation like ur AHA and BHA.
there is two schools of thought with this method the oil alone or the double cleanse using an oil soluble cleanser and then a water soluble cleanser. In have used both and with acneic skin the double cleanse is 90 percent of the time more eefective. The beauty of oil based cleansers is they remove dirt oil and oil soluible grime but dont strip dont disturb the acid mantle and dont irrate. they dont however impart more advance cleaning agents like ur acids calming ing. anti ox etc..
OH deep boi, i think talc powder can clog pores if im not mistaken if you worried about the apearence of shiny skin use a blotting paper or if you on a money diet steal those toilet seat covers from a restroom they work just as well! haha
lol i've never tried blotting paper though might be an idea.
I think theres quite a bit of confusion over OCM. I wanted to do it to get rid of the oily look as well as improve the skin in general. Perhaps it would be worth getting a face steamer to save time, it should work better than a facecloth. I wasn't sure what a big part the steaming played before.
Well I had to discontinue the OCM... I've NEVER had more than one cystic type acne blemish at any given time - CURRENTLY I HAVE ABOUT 4!! HUGE CYSTS!! I was luv'g what it did for my oily skin, but I have more pimples now that I ever have
I went back to a gentle cleanser, and am trying Mama lotion in addition, I've had improvement already (3 days ago)
I'll keep everyone posted.....

Hi, I'm new here-- been reading this thread, and started the OCM about 2 weeks ago. Using 50/50 Castor oil & Jojoba, both from the health food store....plus a smallish amount of BP (just one layer) at night and in the morning.
I've had way more whiteheads than usual, as well as now having a few cystic-type acne spots too (if those are the painful under-skin ones?). I'm at my wit's end here.... it works so well for others, why not me?!
I'm going to try using EVOO instead of the jojoba, as I hear jojoba can break some people out. I hate that it's so trial and error.
Question though: how long do we have to wait to see if this will work for us? I keep hearing about a "purging" period-- could my skin just be getting rid of all the built-up yuck, and on its way to being wonderful and clear? It's been 2 weeks with no improvement. Or am I just being stupid putting this stuff on my skin and making me break out more than ever?!
Any advice would be welcome. Sigh.

OCM shoudld not cuase purging. Ourging happens to people with acneic skin when the heavily exfoliate because it speeds skin renewal and exfoliation and can bring all your micro clogs to a head and make your skin look initially worse before it clears.
OCM again shouldnt purge if you break out from it switch again leaving a film of dirty oil on ur skin if your acneic is not a good idea and i dont like that its getting thrown around..
had mild/moderate acne and bacne since 15, now 20, iv tried pretty much everything and zilch worked. iv found diet/holistic methods to work for me as i am now 99% clear of white heads but still got a lot of red scars that are fading, just bought avon chemical peel so hopefully thatl work
neways been using OCM every 4 days for bout 1 month and my skin looks great, smoother, healthier. may be due to the other changes iv made but im sure this helps a lot as skin looks great after doing it and baby brushing off.
i use cold pressed golden jojoba: cp castor: grapeseed oil 2:2:1
I've been using OCM for a couple days now, I do it at night before I get my shower. I'm using 70% jojoba and 30% castor. I have a couple new pimples on my face since I started using this, is this to be expected when first starting?
I also use Aloe Vera gel before I go to bed too, should I switch to something else?

I was using jojoba & castor oil (and BP and a really nice alpha-hydroxy-acid product too), and the oils broke out my face steadily and constantly the whole 3 weeks I was trying it. Finally, with my face a total wreck, I've stopped the OCM again (it's failed all 3 times I've tried it-- I must be a glutton for punishment, but the "Oh, I must have been doing something wrong!" thoughts are strong...)
This method isn't for everyone. If it breaks out your face for more than a day or two, I'd say either experiment with new oils, or just say f-it and go back to doing something that doesn't make your skin look terrible.
I'm finding it either works great for people, or it doesn't. It either helps your skin look great, or it doesn't do much, and then makes you break out like crazy. Yuck.
So I just started OCM as an experiment as a solution for this dry chin and laugh line area I have going on right now. For the past couple of nights, I've been using roughly a 25%/75% Castor/EVOO oil mixture and I'm thinking of adding a dash of tea tree oil as well since it is just sitting in my cabinet right now. Tomorrow I will begin the OCM in the morning as well before I enter the shower and steam/wash it off in the shower. Currently, the regimen is in my sig, just replace the Eurcerin with the OCM mixture. Also, I'm skipping my RAM every other day because of the irritation.
My thoughts so far: I'm loving the OCM. My skin feels incredible and smooth and I looked in the mirror this afternoon and my skin was glowing. It was improved like crazy with the RAM but I needed something extra. I'm also loving the Aloe Vera I've been using as well. Super light moisturizer that heals!
