Side Effects

Cons:
from week 3-6 (now), acne has gotten much worse than before.
This medication is very discouraging. My acne is worse now than when I started. I am hoping this is the initial breakout, though this seems to be an awfully long one. I hope this is it and it will clear, or I will be very disappinted.

Pros:
Works great. Cleared up all my acne and bacne. Made scars less noticable.
Cons:
Dryness if you don't put a moisterizer on before tazorac.
Wonderful medication. Clears scarred acne and severe acne

but once I stopped using it my skin got even worse than I had before.
I started using it when my dermatologist recommended it to me for my mid break out skin. Started with 0.05 cream (gel didn't agree with me :(, moved on to 0.1 and it was working OK for 6 months. The problem was that I have to pay full $150 (my insurance didn't cover) so I stopped using it for a while and my face is just HORRIBLE know. Its like it just got off the drugs that really made me think about becoming dependent on it.
I'm trying other meds now but probably will come back to Tazorac...can't stand my face now:(

Pros:
skin is noticeably smoother, fewer pimples,marks from old acne is fading as skin peels
Cons:
acne gets worse in first three weeks of starting, peeling is bothersome.
i was somewhat discouraged when i first started and worried about having new marks to deal with after the product cleared old and existing pimples, but the peeling helped this and my face is noticeably smoother and clearer.
it is worth the aggravation at the start for the results it produces later on.
it can be hard to deal with your face being worse but although i doubted others, it really does get worse before it gets better.
i do not use it every day though, when i see a new pimple forming, i apply it and it reduces the healing time for it significantly.
my suggestion is that it may not work for everyone but given all the over the counter products we may have all tried, this one should not be any worse to try and hope for the best.
after trying retin A, differin, antibiotics, gels, every salycic acid product i could find, i think tazorac has given me the best results.

Pros:
At first, my skin was red and peeled often. I've been on the cream for 2.5 months now and can say that it has approved my skin for the better. It took away bumps, blackheads, and cysts.
Cons:
I still struggle with scars and dryness and get a few whiteheads. I'm hoping that these will stop down the line Also, don't put it on around your lip area! it will dry your lips.
I recommend it to anyone with moderate acne.

Pros:
Shrinks pores. Removes redness. Makes skin smooth.
Cons:
Takes time to work. At first makes worse. Need to use with a super hydrator.
Stick with it and it will work. My T zone is the problem area for me. I use a Stridex power pad everyday in the morning in order to prevent new pimples from forming. Before I go to bed, I make what my doctor calls a "Tazorac sandwhich." I put a layer of a super hydrator called MD Forte all over my face. Then I spread half a pea size of MD Forte all over my T zone. Finally, I put another layer of MD Forte over my T zone. This keeps my skin from peeling and being overly dry. Don't overdo it on the Tazorac, when I use too much it only makes everything redder. Stick with it and use it for the rest of your life. Good Luck!

IM HERE TOO UPDATE!!!! i have been using this product for almost 3 weeks now. at first it made my skin veryy bad and it was breaking out alot and red and peely. althoughh the redness and peeling are still there, they are not as bad as before and i havnt gotten any more breakouts. ive already began to get compliments on my skin saying that it looks alot smoother. i had initially got it too smooth out the bumps in my skin from underlying acne and i find that this is the only thing ive ever used that has shown an improvement in the overall appearance of my skin..
its not for everyone but i truly do recommend it...i will update again in a couple of weeks im so excited!!!

I have struggled with acne since I was 12. Went to the derm tried several differen things, did work. Derm gave me tazorac and clyndimacin! And I was on for several years and it cleared my skin really well! I was so impressed that I got off it cuz who wants to be on medicine forever. Big mistake. I broke out in cystic acne which was stressed induced and I had never had this kind before! It took 3 months to get in with the derm and when she saw me she freaked out because she knew how clear i was before! I struggled for over a year trying to calm this cystic acne down and what made it worse was me worrying about it ALL THE TIME! I have no pictures of myself at the age of 19! I was a wreck, I would not go in the store or wal-mart! But finally calmed down, derm wanted me to go on accutane. I refused because my acne is not that bad!! So I am just not recently getting back on tazorac and clyndimiacin! I will update in a few weeks and let you know the progress! I am very hopeful!

Pros:
My cystic acne reduced in size after the first application. Brings all of the white heads to the surface. And it's inexpensive.
Cons:
It makes the blemishes really red.
I had a chemical peel done 4 days before I started Taz, I think it helped get the peeling out of the way. My skin actually feels comfortable. Also on Benzaclin and Doryx.....this is my third round on those. I use Cetafil as my cleanser and apply Clinque's Gel Moisturizer before I apply Taz in the PM only. My skin was really oily before and now I don't have to constantly wipe the oil off of my face. Seems to be making a difference. I'm only a week in. Time will tell. Also, I found a $15 mail in rebate on the web. It's not much but it makes a difference. I paid $25 before the rebate.....my insurance covered a lot of the cost.
Pros:
scars heal faster..little pimples go away faster. worked great for the first 3 weeks. doesn't smell, spreads easily with lotion.
