Pros:

This cleanser is not the best on the Neutrogena line but it DOES in fact help clear the skin of all dirt-filled pores. It cleanses each pore and washes out the dirt leaving clear, soft skin.

Cons:

This product MUST be used twice a day (only if your skin is not sensitive). It does not prevent pimples, although it cleanses them well if you apply it to them when they are opened. Dryness does in fact occur.

Although dryness is sometimes a result, clear skin is right behind. Dryness of skin after applying to the face only results because of certain skin types. So many people complain about products. Why not be grateful for so many to choose from? It ALL depends on YOUR TYPE OF SKIN. If it is sensitive, go to your doctor. If it's carefree, experiment with it. Once you find the perfect product, stick with it and it'll stick with you. Neutrogena products are popular because scientifically and because of surveying it seems to help with the majority of people's skin types. Although some it might harm, overall it's effectiveness is positive.

Pros:

It was soft and worked well with my soft skin. Unlike other products like clinique and murad this worked.

Cons:

None

This product rocks.Don't listen to the other idiots who say this product stinks. They just want you to buy more products. The proactiv gentle solution worked from day one. Now I only have one pimple left. I used to have pimples and dark hyperpigmentation all over my face on omy nose, around my forhead, on both cheeks, and all over my chin. Just trust me and try this product I am not one of those other idiots who want you to buy more products. The people who want you to buy more products and spend thousands or hundreds of dollars on many different products are mean cruel and should not be allowed to write a reveiw. Because they are not honest. Along with using this product do remember to eat write and have alot of vegetables and fruits. Drink at least eight glasses of water and mantain a healthy life style dont let others tell you to do other wise. Try to use some turmeric powder as well this is also called haldhi. Thank you for you time. the price listed below is with tax.

Wow
I recently moved back to Canada (yes in the middle of winter) and quickly developed dry winter skin. I needed a moisturizer desperately. I am always worried about adding new products to my face as I (adult 46 year old female) have acne prone skin. I bought Aveeno Clear Complexion and I have to say WOW. Not only did it do a great job at moisturizing but it actually cleared up my skin better. It is light and has a mild scent. I use it at night and in the morning after my regular face wash. I plan to stock up. I can't say enough about this product.

Skin got red and hot... and acne got worse!
I have been using Neutrogena products for a very long time with no problem - mainly their lotions and sunblocks, I guess in retrospect. I always thought they were good, like super high quality for something you could buy at the store. It made sense to me, when I started to breakout out of nowhere last year to try them. I bought this product, read the instructions and followed them. Within a week, my face was tight, red, burning to the touch and sprouting more zits than ever before. I was totally horrified. I called a friend of mine in the skin care business and she told me that Neutrogena products are crap, filled with tons of chemicals and just straight up no good. I still can't believe it! I looked it up and she was right there are so many articles about how bad it is!! Especially their sunblock. I can't believe I have trusted them with my skin for so long! She told me to try a couple other products that couldn't be found at the general store. Her clients had had good luck with two of them, Exposed and Ninja. I hadn't heard of either, called them both, explained the situation and ultimately went with Ninja. really great company , the trifecta of good - customer service, price and awesome product! My skin cleared up really quickly, now I am even off the medication and even better' I am not wearing makeup any more to cover up my spots!

crappy product.
So my skin type is very oily but also flaky, a really gross combo IMO. I get pretty much all types of acne; tons of blackheads, many whiteheads, cysts on the rare occassion. This moisturizer didn't make me breakout anymore than I already do but it didn't help either. At first when applied it feels hydrating, but it dries up quickly. If you don't have flaky/dry skin, then this might be nice to help rid of whiteheads without excessively drying out your skin. Otherwise it kinda sucks. Also if you use more than the tiniest amount of it or apply any makeup product on top, it peels off in little filmy white chunks. Just gross, but you get what you pay for I guess.

Try using Noxema. You can find it at Walmart. Great for sensitive skin.

A good chemical exfoliant.
I have combination skin. I do not use these to treat acne, but rather to exfoliate. My t-zone tends to get very oily, especially my nose. That being said, my skin can start to look extremely congested and dirty with all the oil building up - clogged pores, blackheads, bumps, etc. I made an appointment with the aesthetician at my derm's office and she recommended these. After cleansing, I just quickly sweep this over my nose, forehead and chin. So far they work great! I don't use them everyday because they can be drying. You have to find what works for you. I have sensitive skin and these don't irritate it at all or make it red.

Worked for a while
This helped my breakouts when I first started to use it, but after about a month my skin went back to breaking out. My skin has this same reaction to most cleansers, so it might work great for someone else.

Dried out my skin, made my chin acne worse
This product dried out my skin. It also has this chemically scent which I'm not a fan of. I bought it because i needed a moisturizer. I had bumps on my chin, the next day they were inflamed and red, some with heads. I wouldn't recommend this unless they reformulate it and maybe add in some spf for daily use. It's not great for people with sensitive skin either since it can be irritating. I have moderately sensitive skin.

NAH
i actually bought it because of the good reviews i read from people who suffered from acne. i put it on the big visible spots day and night, the next morning there was no result (of course, because you can't expect a clear skin overnight) but i continued using it the next day and then in the morning i was in my room sitting on the floor just under my window and i was looking at my face in the mirror and noticed that my face looked very oily that it looked greasy. lets just get to the point why i don't recommend this; it worsens my acne. my pimples got redder and bigger. my face looked more oily than it did before. i dont recommend anyone to buy it.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
