Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

Fantastic Moisturizer, cheap, works very well.

Cons:

Small bottle, but the price justifies it.

Fantastic product, highly recommended. makes skin look better just by being moisturized. I feel that when I use this, my skin does not feel the need to create as much oil as with other acne medications, so new breakouts and such are very minimal.

Pros:

Fast-acting, inexpensive, readily available, convenient to use

Cons:

Dries skin

I use these only periodically when my skin is at its worst. It helps clear up pimples faster than without treatment. However, it dries my skin too much for me to use daily. What I do is wash my face, gently rub these pads over the worst acne, and go to bed. Don't use the pads to "scrub." Use gently to apply the medication. Moisturizing is up to you. I hate having a chemical cornucopia on my face, so I don't moisturize when I use this.

Pros:

Refreshing and "feels" clean. I have used this product for over 30 years and simply HAVE to have it to feel like my face is clean after washing and before make up is applied.

Cons:

Being unable to find it. I can't get it in my area anymore and had been ordering it online - this morning all I can find to order it is to pay $45+ for 3 bottles. I heard it was not being made anymore and I'm desperate.

HELP ME FIND IT! It's the BEST product EVER!!!!!

Pros:

-works!
-smells good

Cons:

-hard to find (at least not as easy as products by Neutrogena, Clean&Clear, etc... I can only find this in Target and sometimes Whole Foods)
-sometimes dries out my skin slightly

I bought Burt's Bees Natural Acne Solutions pore refining scrub about a month and a half ago and used it every two or three days. After five years of having awful skin that didn't respond to any treatment (prescription or otherwise) I didn't actually expect it to work... My skin is now clear. Even the cystic acne is gone. My old acne scars are fading quickly, too. Two months ago, my skin hurt constantly and I hated how it looked even with makeup on. Now it feels great and I haven't needed to wear makeup in weeks. By the way, like I mentioned in cons, this can dry out my skin a little. I just put Burt's Bees Beeswax Moisturizing Creme on those spots after I use the acne scrub and it's fine.

Cons:

I hope they'll make the kit (Package) larger.

Pros:

-makes skin soft&smooth
-pleasant smell
-prevents pimples
-gets rid of redness really good!

Cons:

none really.

I love this(: it makes my skin uber soft and smooth and really does help prevent,&treat pimples. Gets rid of facial redness pretty quick. Its just really hard to find a good moistuizer for acne prone skin that wont make me oily/breakout. I have clear skin right now(has been for months and im SO happy!) and this is part of the reason. <3

Pros:

I have used Seabreeze for years. If you have had poison ivy or poison oak rash you need the original Seabreeze. Spray 2-3 times with Seabreeze. Rash will dry up. WORKS EVERYTIME. WHY had it been taken off the market?

Cons:

If your skin is irrated it will burn, but It will kill the rash.

Original Seabreeze is impossible to find in North Central Arkansas. WHY?????? I have never had acne but it is worth the price???? to have for drying up the poison oak and poison ivy rash. My medicine cabinet was never w/o it until I tried to restock and was told that it was not available.

Pros:

Inexpensive, effective, more convenient than a liquid cleanser, no water needed, doesn't over dry my face (I have oily skin)

Good product that has cleared me up better than most others I have tried, including Dan's Regimen. It didn't clear me up as much as I would like but it is a good product that is inexpensive and easy to use with little side effects (if you have oily skin)

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
