Topical Keratolytic
Acne.org’s Real World Take
Easy to find and with low side effects, but don’t be surprised if you are left wishing for better results after using it for a while. Any acid on its own is unlikely to dramatically clear acne.

Pros:

Makes skin soft

Cons:

This will aggravate the hell out of your current skin problems!

The only thing about this stuff that you might like- is that immediately after use your skin will be soft. However; this will do nothing to help prevent or treat future and current acne. The only reason I would EVER use again is maybe to buff away dead skin in winter so my make up won't look shabby. Otherwise- Don't waste the money.

Pros:

ACNE SOLUTIONS SYSTEM :
-I actually love the smell. even the spot treament.i really cant imagine ppl hating it, but everyones different.
-NATURAL .
-doesnt dry skin atall! i have sensitive skin and I have never experienced no drying, even some moistuizers dry me out, not to mention water alone does too.

Cons:

OK so it made me BREAKOUT HORRIBLY at first, like first two weeks. Mom hand to "for feed me" into using it.
-im 19 female and had acne since like 13.
REMEMBER THIS SYSTEM DOESNT WORK WITHOUT THE SPOT TREAMENT
-very expensive must I say.

Ive been using this stuff, im on my third week. I use it once a day. What people are saying about being allergic to it, thats what I thought, but honestly its just taking all that gunkout! trust me the BREAKOUT WAS HORRIBLE!! trust me people I know a bad breakout i have many of them, when mines get bad i dont even want to leave the house cuz ppl stare at me. I had cysts EVERYWHERE, mostly under my jawline and scars. unbelievably painful. I took painkillers everyday, which helped, and camomile tea steams. but the breakout was only for the first two weeks. I was really close to giving up, like all the zillions of other products ive used.btw the cyts if u dont pick will turn white. I know its hard I pick all the time, but just let it pass. anyway this is week three, I also brought some clinique makeup which I wear ontop of the BB ACNE SYSTEM. and it really keeps my hands from picking and lets the product work. Let me tell you my acne has drasically changed. from those cysts (some of which I popped) i drained some puss and it started healing. THE SPOT TREATMENT is a must if u wanna do this acne system. I was using it without the spot treament and its really hard. just makes things easier to have it. anyways with the makeup, i dont have the cysts anymore, just a bunch of tiny smallest blackheads ive ever had. they are really crusty to the touch, all over, as if you have sand on your face, and they fall of if you lightly scratch them. I still have many scars all over from the intial breakout, but so far, its really improving. think of it this way people, accutane and everything that actually works takes time to do its thing. BB acne solutions is a miracle really, just give it time and let it go crazy on you. accutane even gives ppl really bad breakouts like 2 months. Just stick through it.

Pros:

Absolutely love it. Clears up face and back acne really fast. Smells really good. Leaves face feeling smooth and soft and fresh. Reduces size and redness of pimples fast. Removes extra oil.

Cons:

Breakout at first.

I have really oily skin. My face was contantly breaking out and it sucked. I started using clearasil every morning and night. I then use oxy cleansing pads right after. Also use banana boat aloe Vera gel as a moistorizer so my skin doesn't get too dry but doesn't get oily again either. The results- in two days my pimples were either gone or smaller and less noticeable. I also swim in a properly chlorinated pool every day for at least 2 hours now since it's summer and THAT has changed my skin SO much in a great way. I've tried everything from clinique to neutrogena but nothing seemed to work. Clearasil isn't harsh on my skin at all and I absolutely love it. My self-esteem has definently gotten higher and I don't even need to wear makeup a lot anymore!

Pros:

Effective
Nice smelling
Affordable
Soothing for skin, does not dry your skin out
Good for oily skin

Cons:

Small bottle size
Does not get rid of all blacheads

This stuff works really well. I started breaking out with tiny bumps under my skin on my forehead, the sides of my face and behind my ears. I didn't know what the heck it was and it soon developed into the worst acne I've ever had. I have always had small breakouts now and again, I have oily skin and wasn't taking care of it properly. When I started using Mirena, it got worse, then cleared up when I started using the proper cleansing products and doing a good regimen. When this craziness started in December, I started using everything I could find. I googled and found that salicylic acid and benzoyle peroxide were two of the most active treatments. I was using a salicylic acid face wash and a salicylic acid moisturizer that was non-comodogenic and things just got worse. I kept thinking once this breakout cleared up, or this zit went away, it would be over. I even went to a doctor and got a prescription compound and I thought it was helping. After almost 3 months of seriously wanting to hide my face in public and starting to get depressed about my appearance, I happened to go into a Ulta beauty supply store. The lady there recommended this product. At first I was skeptical b/c the active ingredient in most of the bottles is salicylic acid, and I was already using that, plus it said it was for teens and I'm 24 - but I took a chance. I saw a difference in my face after maybe 3 days. I DID still have a pretty bad breakout when I got my cycle, but it cleared right up! I have been using it almost 2 weeks now and my face is looking so normal again! TRY this product, it's worth it!

Pros:

EVERYTHING!
Actually clears up acne

Cons:

None

I just bought this product tonight. Back in High School I remember using an astringent for just two days and it totally cleared up my face. Why I stopped using it or never thought to do it again is beyond me! But, I remembered all of that this evening and went and bought Sea Breeze Astringent. I've used it....probably 15 times over my face. lol (I don't know if that's good or bad for it, but that's what I did in HS) My skin, amazingly already looks 90% better. I can't believe it! I've tried EVERYTHING. Mary Kay, Proactive, Clean-n-clear, masks, foams, tanning, home remedies...I mean everything. My acne was not TOO crazy bad, all over, but I had tons of black heads, and would get those -under the skin- ones that hurt so badly, and break out on my chin and neck. Also, my skin just didn't look healthy, or have a very good tone. Just in a few hours it looks so much better and I am so happy! I would recommend this to absolutely anyone!!!!!!

Pros:

Great acne solution if you have light acne skin, or even moderate acne skin.

Cons:

At first when i started to use it, it seemed to want to dry my face out more then expected and cause some dry skin but overall, and the more times I use it, much of the dry skin went away.

This is a great and successful acne solution and I would recommend this to pretty much anyone.

Pros:

Fast-working

Cons:

Over-priced

This really works for me. Within a week of using this scrub each morning, my back and chest were nearly cleared. It normalized my greasy skin without drying. Only downside is the price.

Use this bar to get rid of acne on my back, chest and arms.

Pros:

Lasts for a long time.
Really lathering.
Keeps my bacne under control.

Cons:

Not a huge fan of bar soaps for the face, not sanitary :/

I purchased this bar soap to get rid of cysts on the back of my neck. It worked for a while but then it kind of stopped working, but it really keeps the rest of my body free of acne. It is gentle and I love the smell it has (I know it's fragrance free but it smells really good though lol)

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
