Its been over a month, and have had only one or 2 major spots. Which is rare as in the last 5-7 years I havent gone longer than a few days without some sort of a spot, and never longer than a fortnight without a breakout. Being black, I have some hyperpigmentation so Im now including some glycolic acid into my routine to hopefully clear that up and in due time im hopeful this combinatino will enable me to restore my skin to what it was many moons ago I've already recommended to my sister, hopefully she sees some results in the near future too. But definitely give it a go, all of us with bad skin know it can really destroy your confidence, its a joke how vanity can do that, but it is what is.... Hope this helps

I took Solodyn for about 2 months and it did almost nothing. I didn't have many side effects, but my skin barely improved at all. It's not worth taking it daily because the results weren't spectacular, but I wouldn't discourage you from taking it because different things work for different people. I have quite stubborn skin. For the past five years I have been battling acne and nothing has changed. I have tried almost everything. My point is that your skin may respond better so give it a shot.

I could deal with the stomach pain for this pill, but it making my painful cystic acne worse was unbearable. *also i was prescribed the 135 mg dosage but only weigh 125 +/- a couple lbs depending on the day and from what I've read online that is an extremely high dosage, so that could've been the reason for my stomach issues.

Okay so here is my story I hope someone can relate: (Also real quick a little background of my acne): I have pretty sensitive skin, can't use any face washes or it breaks me out. My skin is usually a combination of oily and dry, but right now I have 2 topical gels that make me super peely and dry. I use apple cider vinegar twice a day, along with my PONDS moisturizer that works pretty well I think. I also use Garnier SkinActive Micellar Cleansing water to take off my makeup. My story: I am a 16 year old junior in high school and am probably the most acne prone girl on campus. I have dealt with acne since 7th grade and it got worse and worse as time went by. And as freshman year came about, I had every type of acne out there- cystic, papules, pustules, scars, EVERYTHING.. So I went to a dermatologist and they he prescribed me doxycycline. Used that for a year and holy sh*t did that clear up my acne. I didn't have to wear make up I could put my hair in a pony tail without feeling self conscious I MEAN YOU GUYS THIS WAS A BEAUTIFUL TIME IN MY LIFE. So I was allowed to stop taking doxy and guess what happened, junior year I broke out like a mother f**ker and I am currently dealing with the same ugly horrific painful embarrassing acne and I am back to square one. Went to a dermatologist again and he told me to take Minocycline twice a day. He told me that 30-40% of my acne would clear up in 3 weeks. It's been two and I've seen some improvements, but I just started my period where oh my god you guys I break out so bad on my period. I get smaller cystic acne pimples that hurt like a mother and it sucks but I don't want to go on birth control cuz I really don't want to gain weight, I know way too many people who did. Anyways I am going back to the dermatologist for a follow up in one more week, and if it isn't better, he's guna want to put me on accutane which I am not happy about. I'm so tired of this f**king acne I have dealt with it for too long, I know I need to be patient but I am probably the most impatient person I know, and I hate not wanting to even be around my own family because of my insecurity. I kid you not if my acne was gone and I had nice skin, I would be really happy with myself. But it makes me feel like the ugliest girl on the planet. It's hard to look past and can I just say that if anyone i suffering from acne, which is probably the person reading this right now because lol this is a website for acne prone people, I feel for you. and I'm not just saying that, like I really f**kin feel for you IT IS THE WORST CURSE EVER. I'm going to do another update on how my acne looks in about a week because apparently my acne is supposed to clear up 30-40% in 3 weeks says my dermatologist. Gets rid of acne pretty quick, but will most likely give some sort of side-effect, some more severe than others. Not worth the little time of acne relief because the acne will be right back once you stop taking it.

I'm currently suffering from severe joint pain, chills, headaches, fatigue, neurological changes, and general overall yuckiness. Because I'm 40, I thought I had early arthritis or lyme's disease (we live in the country). The doctor stopped the minocycline and put me on dioxycycline. I instantly felt better. Test results showed that I don't have lyme's or arthritis. Now that I'm back on the minocycline, all the above symptoms have returned. Coincidence? I'm not sure. I'm thinking it's related to the prolonged use of minocycline (one year). I have an appt. soon with an infectious disease doctor. I will post updates.

I have had acne since age 11 and I am now 30. Nothing has worked for me except Accutane, which gave me suicidal thoughts and dried out my skin/lips/scalp horribly bad. Sadly, my 100% clear body/face was short-lived after my Accutane wore off and it's too dangerous in my opinion, to try it again. Bare Mineral makeup by Bare Escentuals completely cleared up my facial acne within a couple weeks, I have been using that for 3 months. But...my body acne was still there, on my neck, chest and back. Body acne SUCKS. So, I went to a dermatologist and he put me on Solodyn. It's been one month and I can now wear v-neck shirts. My small pus-filled pimples are 98% gone and I couldn't be happier. After reading the reviews, I do worry it will stop working after a few months, but so far, it's been GREAT at clearing up my body acne. I will have to keep a close eye on it after a few months to see if I am one of the people it will stop working on. I love this site, such good information being shared is a wonderful thing. I was on this pill since December 2009. It did however, kept my acne under control but it never cleared it. I still broke out a lot. My other problem was taking it without milk since I am a cereal person in the mornings. It was hard but I pulled through. My third problem was that it was very expensive. There is no real main price for this. I used Wal-Mart pharmacy for this pill. The highest I had paid for this pill was $60 something dollars. One time, for some reaosn, I got it for like $37 dollars. I don't know why but the price had changed a lot. Once it was $47, $50, $56, $60, $40. I decided to stop taking it since it was making me broke and hardly cleared my skin. It's not very healthy on it. I have been on it for a year and still I kept getting acne like crazy so it never worked and I followed the directions on the label exactly.

Drink LOTS of WATER while on this pill and you will likely see no side effects. I've been on it for about 2 weeks now, maybe 1 1/2 but its kept me clear for now. I have maybe 2-3 bit zits a week on average so i guess its pretty good. Note: i drink at least 64 oz. of water a day, Bottom line, Drink lots of water when you take it and during the day and you should see no side effects.
