Pros:

it worked amazingly. i have bad acne all over my face, espically my cheeks and chin and now my cheeks have completely cleared up and my chin is much clearer than before.

Cons:

you do break out worse than usual when you start it and it tastes nasty but its worth it

i started out hating it because it tastes bad, and my acne just kept getting worse, but after about 4 weeks i started to notice my acne going away slowly, and after awhile my skin was completely clear- you do get the random pimple here and there but its not big deal. i did hear that after a long time of using this product your skin turns silver, but i highly doubt it.

Pros:

Clears up facial and body acne. Took about 2 or 3 months to see improvement. Covered by insurance.

Cons:

GAVE ME MELASMA!!! Post inflammation pigmentation on my forehead and melasma on my upperlip and top of forehead.

Will never take antibiotic long term again. Melasma is very hard to treat and once you get it - you wish you were dealing with the acne again. Please be careful with long term antibiotics - they can cause long term issues and many doctors just write out RX's without informing us of side effects.

Pros:

cleared up most spots with the odd breakout here

Cons:

after a couple of weeks of taking them got yeast infection all around mouth and nose, cum up red and flaky, doc kept me on mino, but has given me hydrocortisone steroid cream to calm dermatitis. bin year and half now and still got dermatitis

not sure weather this dermatitis will stop once i stop taking drug or not bit scared of outcome. beware of all side effects as have had brown patches on skin aswell best drug that worked for me was lymecycline though took age s for the best results and neither of them got rid of bacne. anyone else had this prob.?

Pros:

Cleared up moderate acne and controlled it with few major breakouts.

Cons:

Bad breakouts when first begin usage. Wears off after about a year and half. Made my acne better but then a lot worse after about 2 years.

Good for about a year or so but make sure you switch once it wears off.

Pros:

I have seen a dramatic change in my acne since i started minocycline (about 6 weeks ago)My chest and back are clearing fairly quickly, and i have next to no pimples, just red marks on the jawline waiting to be cleared by the Stivea-A Cream i use.

Cons:

Can't be taken with food, I have yet to go off minocycline, so i really hope my acne stays away for good(i am only 18). Causes minor nasuae with me in the mornings

Great product, cheap, easy to keep on track with, minor side-effects, and the results you see can be seen within a few weeks of taking the pill.

Pros:

Works very well.

Cons:

At around week 12 it started to make my stomach make weird growling noises. I have yet to find a solution to this so if anyone knows what it might be/what might help it please post...Also you MUST take this for 12 weeks. It did not help till week 12.

You must, and I mean must, take this within 2-3 hours of eating. A schedule I used was 8:15 AM take one 8 0z glass of water, swallow a 100mg minocycline pill, drink another 8 oz of water. At 11:45 am-12:15 pm I at a massive lunch such as vegetables, 2 pieces of chicken, rice, cookies and an 8 oz glass of water. At 8:15 pm I drank one 8 oz glass of water, swallowed a 100 mg minocycline pill and finished off with another 8 oz glass of water. At around 9:30 pm, I would wash my face with a soap, dry my face off, put hot water on a rag and dab it on my face, dry it off (remember to pat your face when drying it). I then put some Gel (the doctor gave me this as well) on the affected areas (be sure to percisely place this it may cause dry skin) and since it doesn't dry all that well, I had a little portable fan on Power 2 and just left it infront of my face/neck for about 5 minutes. Then I went to sleep. (change pillow cases every 3 nights/wash them). Follow this and you will be acne free.

Pros:

redness is some what gone but havent used it long enough

Cons:

got a very light stomach ache the first day

only been using it for 2 days 100mg 2x a day...takes redness away quick but my pimples are still there..i also use triton cream and the proactive renewing cleanser due to the low dose of benzoyl peroxide

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
