Pros:

Fast results
Cheap
Can wear under makeup
Non-drying

Cons:

My feel burning sensation upon application

I started Clindamycin treatment a little over a week ago. I apply it topically twice a day in conjunction with Benzoyl Peroxide. I know its still early into the treatment but I had to leave a review on the progress so far because I am so pleased with the results. It has cleared up my skin amazingly! I had terrible acne and blemishes that were so hard to control. First my MD put me on Tretinoin but it made my face so dry and peel like an onion. Then he switched me to Clindamycin and I love it! It completely takes away any painful inflammation. All of my pimples were about half their size two days later. My forehead is totally clear now and it was broken out just a few days ago. My skin is finally getting under control. Also, I tend to have extremely dry skin and this medication does not dry it out.

Pros:

- Works and works fast
- I like the tube it comes in, dries up fast and comfortable to keep on over night
- Free since its a prescription!!!!

Cons:

- Bleaches clothes or towels
- Available by prescription only and only good for 4 months after opening

Ive been using treament gels for a long time now like benzoyl peroxide you can buy in stores the 5% ones. Which work well but this Clindoxyl gel (Clindamyncin phosphate and benzoyl peroxide) Is so amazing and so much better! You can only get it as a prescription well mine is a prescription... I have cystic acne that comes and goes and also have chest acne thats pretty bad. This will stop my acne from getting worse and will litterally heal my acne overnight. I do hate that it bleaches clothes I have to be very careful around new towels and new pjs.. But it works so thats why I use it. Cystic acne is very hard to get rid of and this stuff is the only thing that heals them fast! And its free since it was a prescription! And I cannot count how many usless acne products ive purchased through out the years!!

Pros:

Clear skin, less blackheads, no dryness or irritation, no initial breakout.

I've had moderate acne for years and this is the only product that has ever consistently worked for me. I used to wake up everyday with a new pimple. I cannot remember the last time I brokeout after using this. No initial breakout for me...no dryness, no irritation. I cannot recommend this stuff enough.

Pros:

1. Large tube
2. Clears pimples in about a weeks time.
3. Doesnt sting for me.
4. Not much of a smell.
5. Doesn't stain like B.P.

Cons:

1. Possible bacteria resistance can occur.
2. Can be drying - will make skin flake

I believe I have hormonal acne. 28 y.o. male. I use this as a spot treatment only - as ordered by my doctor. Do not apply everywhere. I apply it after my shower which consists of a shave and face wash with Cetaphil Genle Skin Cleanser at night time. Just apply a thin film over the affected area. I rub it in with a q-tip (personal preference). Its been working great for the past week as I have been avoiding processed sugars and also taking a multivitamin with said routine. $5 with insurance.

Pros:

I had suffered acne for about a year and started noticing it was just getting worse and worse. So I went to my doctor and she prescribed this. I absolutely love it! I get compliments on my skin all the time now. I virtually have no zits expect around "that time of the month" and even then I only have one or two and they are sooo tinyyy. I have major confidence in my skin now. I used to be self conscious but now I dont have to wear hardly any makeup. I love it sooo much! So keep using it!

Cons:

I really don't have any except your face gets dry but if you exfoliate and moisturize your skin.. then your good :)

You should def. take it. It's wonderful.

Pros:

I no longer wake up wondering how many new pimples I have! It worked relatively quickly. I began using it in the AM and Retin A at night, but the Retin-A dried my skin out horribly (pealing, redness, etc.). I now use it before bed (the solution).

Cons:

Somewhat strong smell - I would also recommend that if you have sensitive skin to use only once a day (and not with other acne meds).

Great! Highly recommend and wish I had known about this YEARS ago!!!

Cons:

None

If you use it faithfully and apply twice a day after washing your face you will get the results you have been long waiting for. I have tried every over the counter products and this is the only thing that I found to work successfully.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
