Pros:

Cleared up my skin really well.I'm 17 and didn't really have that much acne, just a couple pimples here and there, nothing too big, it cleared them up extremely fast and the spot treatment works great.

Cons:

The price is a little high, but considering how well it works, it's definitely worth it if you want perfect skin.

Pros:

I use the Gentle Solution; I have sensitive skin, worked well and didn't make my face red, dry, or flaky

Cons:

The moisturizer tends to make your skin look oily.

If you have sensitive skin or are allergic to the main ingredient in the advertised version of Proactiv, ask for the Gentle Solution. They don't sell this in the mall, you have to email the company or call customer support to switch to the Gentle Solution. It has Salicylic Acid, if you're allergic to Benzol Peroxide. I highly recommend it. It comes with a night time green tea moisturizer too which calms the skin of redness and irritation, for people with sensitive skin. I still recommend using an SPF sunscreen. The only thing is, if you use a lot, your skin may look oily. Use a -minimum- amount. Keep with it, and don't give up! I highly recommend it..

makes my skin feel fresh and clean

Cons:

expensive but works

buy it cause it works

Pros:

Its affordable and works! Controls acne well, does have a drying affect but you can control that by using step 3 only once a day or every other day. You gotta find your combo if drying occurs.

Cons:

I wish hte package came with a real moisterizer w/spf protection. Cuz w/all acne meds sun exposure is heightened.. But I can deal.

I've been using for acne free for several years.. Yes, years.. I found it by accident at Walmart and it work immediatlely and I use it to this day. I've compared it to Proactive and it has stronger ingredients for half the price and no autoship scams.. I also love that you can now buy just the cleanser since that runs out the fastest. I hear some people complain about the dryness factor but it can be lessened by switching up step 3. Most people have breakouts due to oils or bacteria on there skin, so once that gets under control, you will have to find how much and when to use step 3 especially if you have hormonal breakouts then you know when to use it the most. I've recommended it to several family members and they love it too..

Pros:

it got rid of acne!

Cons:

but only for a month :(

the first time i used proactive it was fine it made my skin feel smoother and everyone saw a differance in my skin! i thought it was perfect like my little miracle, but what i didn't know was that only within a month my acne would be back, 10x worse!, my skin was more oily and dry then is had ever been before, i would skip school b/c of it!, i finally gave up and went to a dermotoligist and he pescribed me diferen for the morning and benza clien for the night my skin is now the clearist its even been! absloutly no acne! however i still have blackheads here and there, there very minor and impossible to see

Pros:

It worked for me for about 2 months.

Cons:

I used it religiously according to the directions, and after the first 2 months, my acne became worse than ever.

For the amount that it costs it is just not worth it.

Pros:

Clears up acne pretty well

Cons:

Side effects of BP
Really small tube for the price which is used up in around a week

It's currently the best I can find here, so I'm using it and it has been working well apart from my skin flaking and peeling badly the first 2 weeks.

Pros:

makes skin feel clean

Cons:

drys up my skin a lot!

the frist time i used it it worked very well then i stopped using it regularly cause of lazyness and started goign to derm but that didnt help so i thought id try it again so far ive been using it for a month hanst really helped=/ and i always have to be applying lotion on my face because it drys it out too much

Pros:

When it "finally" worked, it made my skin soft and supple. My skin looked glowy and dewy for a while.

Cons:

Made my skin feel very dry, it was as if I was wearing a mask...this was even after I used the moisturizer. This system also made my skin very flaky for a very looong time.

Do not use if you can get a hold of more affordable Acne Systems like PROACTIV. I had thought that it worked fine for the first few weeks of using it, because my ACNE did go away, but the dryness and the flakiness certainly did not. Save your money.

Pros:

evens skin tone, controls oil, controls acne, leaves skin feeling smooth and refreshed!

Cons:

havent experienced any yet!

I tried proactive, countless over-the-counter cleansers, and nothing ever worked! Then a friend recommended Clinique and so far, it has done a better job in just 4 days than any of the other products I used for months at a time!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
