Pros:

There were no pros to this product.

Cons:

My skin became red, started peeling until I was bleeding and is still blotchy after discontinuing the product over one year ago.

I would never buy this product again. It cost me more money and time because of the doctor visits and medication to help alleviate my symptoms. I still have outbreaks off and on.

Pros:

Started using a month ago. Pills are tasteless, easy to chew and are working for me! I hope it continues. I haven't used the BP cream that came w/ it b/c it has dried out my skin in the past.

Cons:

Since the pills must be taken twice/day, it can be difficult to remember to take them both.

I started using this product a month ago after exhausting all other forms of treatment & finding it on the internet. My skin has noticeably improved - and has even passed the biggest test - making thru a monthly cycle with no pimples!

I'm very upset about the product and the service they offer. First I ordered a sample package. After using the product, my skin got irritated and felt itchy, but I couldn't send it back because it would cost me more than the money I would get as a refund since I have to send it from Korea. Yet, the worst thing was that I got another package from Proactiv which I didn't order!! They argue that I was automatically joined into the club of automatic re-ordering system when I made my first order. SHOOT!! They insist the message was clearly stated, but I don't think it was! It was embeded!! I can't help but surmise what they are doing is deceiving the customers, especially the international customers who are not easy to complain about it because of their poor English proficiency. Pls aware of their embeded advertisement of re-ordering system and don't let your money taken from them.

Pros:

Pros:

Gets rid of acne and clears skin!

Cons:

Begins to not work anymore... and that really sucks. Dries out your skin, sometimes leaving it splotchy or blotchy.

I have used Proactiv for the last 5 years, so I know what I'm talking about when I say that the product works really really well for a good amount of time, but then it just... stops working. I am not renewing my order this month (or ever again) because the lotion has started to leave my skin dry and tough, and then OILY. At first Proactiv really helped me-- my skin was beautiful! But then its affects just wore off and now I feel I'm wasting $50 every three months for it. My skin is not as horrible as it was 5 years ago (but I've also gotten older and my skin has improved) but I have started to break out (which I never would say... 3 years ago) and my skin is really oily. It was good while it lasted though! But now I am going to find something different.

Pros:

This stuff is amazing. I saw results literally overnight. It's allergy free, fragrance free, and genuinely works on acne better than anything else I've ever tried.

Cons:

It will dry your skin out. Your skin will be smooth, but certain areas will dry out. Alleviate this with some Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion (by Clinique also). It will help.

There is no other product line on the market that will work as well as this Solution Set. It's a little pricey, but well worth it. I've been using it for less than 2 weeks, and my skin is soft, smooth, and problem free.

Pros:

it works!

i have been using proactiv for almost 3 years now and my skin is almost as smooth as my daughter's. mind you, i am in my 40's and i have suffered from acne for a good 20 yrs. i decided to give proactiv a try in sept 2005 and it is the only product that ever worked for me. my scars are almost gone and i hardly break out anymore. u will see the results after 3 wks. please give it a try.

Pros:

really cleared up the few acne spots i had.

Cons:

the fragrance.

i had tried everything out there, except proactive because i do not want to join a club. i saw results in a matter of days and my skin is much smoother. i will use again.

Pros:

Once it started to work for me, it kept my face pretty clear.

Cons:

Dry, flaky skin. Too pricey.

For the first couple weeks I experienced irritated, itchy red skin. I was so miserable but I kept telling myself "it'll get better, just stick with it." I kept telling myself that for about 2 weeks, then the itching died down. I'm glad I listened. My skin has never been clearer (I've had acne from 13 years of age till before I started using Proactiv). The only big downside is the dry, flaky skin. It doesn't seem to go away unless I use a strong moisurizer (I use Eucerin, 10% urea...only because I can't find the Eucerin face cream). And if it weren't for the price then I wouldn't be looking for another solution. Otherwise, I'm happy with Proactiv but $65 for a kit is just too much (regardless of weather or not it lasts 2-3 months...I'm just cheap!).

Pros:

Smells good, pretty packaging, smoothed out my skin for the first week.

Cons:

A LOT more EXPENSIVE than most acne treatments, does not make acne disappear,my face turned red (not that I was allergic to it), my whole face. It ONLY smoothed my skin...and that's it! After my second week, my face was 3 times as worst.

You can try it if you want, but don't get disappointed.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
