Pros:

cheap, easy to use.

Cons:

none as of yet.

Basicly this product is great for light acne, anything servere you should find something better. People say it burns but that is only cause they have bad acne and pick at it which hopens the wounds then which the toner will burn. "Don't pick at you face!!" If you find it drys it out use a face cream after the repair...I suggest complex 15 very good and oil free.

This is the best Treatment i have tryied so far.
September 10, 2008

Pros:

Works well if you follow the directions and use it ONLY TWICE a day, no more. It started working after the first week and then took away all of the pimples in about a month and a half.

Cons:

It doesn't take in as little as 3 days like the package says. You have to be VERY patient, will start working eventually. Stings a little on open pimples. Smells kind of like acitone or acohol.

A GREAT 3-step acne control that you can use when you need it, or as your daily regimen.

Cons:

Did not work at all. Been using it for over a month and I have produced more acne now then before i started using the product.

I would'nt purchase this product again. I actually wish i could get my money back.

September 7, 2008

Pros:

Nothing really

Cons:

It didn't really help me at all. If anything it made it worse. It doesn't get rid of anything, just I get more now. I don't recommend at all.

Made my skin worse, and it can be painful. Not recommended.

Pros:

1. It works where nothing else has. Three days after starting I was acne-free. 2. Feels wonderful on my skin, my constant "itchies" are gone! 3. Controls oily shine. 4. Arrived 2 days after ordering. 5. Excellent price. 6. Nice package. 6. No scent.

Cons:

None.

It's given me hope :-). Had nice skin all my life, then developed awful acne when menopause started 6 years ago that left many scars. Nothing worked. Tried Dan's BP & in THREE days acne was gone! (Along with constant itchiness that was driving me crazy.) Am sticking to regimen. Thanks to you Dan I am smiling a lot more these days :-)

Pros:

high quality as opposed to the drugstore imitations, works quickly, available in most malls now, the BP lotion isnt grainy, the toner is alcohol-free and at a correct pH for exfoliation

Cons:

obliged to join a club when ordering online, fragranged, small bottles, expensive considering there are no special ingredients

whenever I have a breakout, this works! but when my skin is clear, I get lazy and stop using it, and a few months later Im really broken out. It works fast, but dont be discouraged if you break out a little more after a couple weeks because old stuff has to come to the surface. Keep on it for 2 months before giving up. After using it for about 5 months straight, it might seem to be less effective. In this case, just try and use more of the repairing lotion and make sure you're being consistent. Keep using it and eventually it'll get better. Sure, the celebs are getting paid millions to push proactiv, but it does work for mild/moderate acne. For severe acne, it might have to be used with antibiotics or other prescriptions. But as an OTC product this is very good. I always make sure I have some around. my mom is still dealing with acne too, she's in her 50s and proactiv has really helped her too, she swears by it. its worth a shot. give it 2 months, if it doesnt work, get your money back

Smells really bad, dries out skin to the point of discomfort. Hasnt made a dent on any of my acne.

Dont beleive the advertisements. Definatley not worth it.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
