Pros:

Helps (gradually) clear up acne, smooths skin, tightens pores and is easy to use.

Cons:

Skins may be itchy for the first week, but it gets used to the Benzoyl Peroxide quick enough. The Lotion feels a bit greasy and the Cleanser feels and smells like sunscreen.

A good product, but not as 'luxurious' as they claim it to be. The big pimples are getting smaller and some bumps and blemishes have completely cleared up.

Pros:

Texture of skin is softer and refined. With dedicated and consistent use, completely cleared my acne. Evened my skin tone. Easy to use.

Cons:

Can a week or two for skin to get used to the Peroxide but after the initial adjustment, it's fantastic. No major cons though. This product has really delivered for me, so I think a week of adjustment is such a small price to pay for clear skin!

This is a product worth trying. It may not work for everyone but it worked for me. I had quite severe adult acne and I would have done almost anything to get rid of it! I was surprised to find that I could clear my skin with such a straight forward cleansing routine. I imagine that, as other's ave indicated, acne will return if I stop using Proactiv, however, I don't plan on giving it up in any hurry. I figure if all I have to do is cleanse, tone, moisturise and occasionally apply a mask.. and I achieve clear skin, then I'll do it! Like others have said, you really need to be quite dedicated and regimental with this product to achieve such excellent results, but if you are like me and have suffered severe skin problems, this is a sacrifice that is worth making. I would highly recommend this product. Give it time to work and in a few months, the results are remarkable.

Pros:

It's great. I only use the repair lotion and I only use it on my skin after I shower and my skin is still damp.

Cons:

The astringent and the scrub are too strong for sensitive skin.

I have used them all and this is the only one that works. The repair lotion feels great on your skin. I am eternally greatful for this product.

Pros:

Noticed all of my pores and black heads cleared within the first day.

Cons:

Dried out my face so much. Very irritating, burning sensation, hurts to smile or make an expression

This product is like a vacuum. It will suck up all of the moister in your face. I don't recommend it to anyone who has sensitive skin like me. My face turned red, flaky, and there was constantly a burning sensation throughout my day. My face was SO dried, that it felt really tight and hurts whenever I make an expression ie:smiling. It was very difficult for me to keep a straight face all day considering how my friends love to joke around.

Pros:

I guess my pores look smaller and alot of the tiny bumps are gone

Cons:

its not stopping new pimples from forming

Its making the overall texture of my skin better. Its not doing anything to keep new pimples from coming. The little bumps I had all over are going away. I am still developing new pimples on my jaw line and cheecks.

Pros:

Cleared up my skin within the first week

Cons:

After 2 months of use, my face and neck turned red and swelled up like I had a horrible sunburn!

I loved this product because it DID work; however, I believe they may have changed the ingredients after I initially started using it. I am 29 and have never had an allergic reaction to anything, but my body did not agree with something in this product. I was so happy that my acne had finally cleared up and I felt like ME again....but all of the sudden I broke out in hive-like bumps all over my face and neck. They itched horribly and ended up swelling severely. I even had to miss work for 4 days because I could not see my computer screen! The strangest thing was that I had been using it for 2-3 months before anything bad occured. Now I'm scared to use anything else, thus my breakouts are back :(

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
