Pros:

removes oil, clears face within 2-3 weeks significantly, makes your face feel clean.

Cons:

can make face a bit dry for sure, doesnt get rid of the boils (the bigger pimples beneath the skin which are often painful and hard to pop).

very effective, its not a cure but it help eliminate most of ance within a reasonable amount of time. You will like the way your face looks after this (if not, then u need something really strong).

Pros:

It only works good if you use it 2 times a day everyday, or else you break out like crazy.

Cons:

-I have super oily skin. I think proactiv made it even more oily.
-does NOT get rid of blackheads
-does NOT get rid of whiteheads
-gets rid of pimples very slowly
-TOO MUCH MONEY! Yah the trial size is cheap, but not the actual sized bott

NO ACTUAL IMPROVEMENT. & I'VE BEEN USING PROACTIV FOR ABOUT 2 1/2 YEARS NOW. IF YOUR PLANNING ON GETTING A GOOD ACNE TREATMENT, DON'T BUY THIS!! If I treat one pimple, that'll go away in like a week, but then I'll just get another new one the next day. It works okay. I get pimples everywhere- all over my face, my chest, shoulders, and arms.

Pros:

-Dries out oily skin.
-It has reduced pustular (yellowish) breakouts, but the amount of white- and black-heads is basically the same

Cons:

-It dries my skin too much.
-My skin is flaking off like crazy sometimes.
-I get an itching feeling, tingeling and sometimes a sunburnt rash (Although i use it only once a day) and redness.

It`s ok, but not a great product for my skin. (light caucasian skin)

Pros:

-Easy to use: 1 step in the morning & 2 step in the afternoon, sunscreen Coppertone spray-on SPF30, Avene/Evian spray, no toner, no daily moisturizer.
-Really works for me
-Quality and quantity really match the price tag.

Cons:

-Since it's from US, the price has actually nearly quadrupled due to FOREX. But with the quality & quantity, it's okay for me
-Moisturizers in general are too greasy for me, so I just use use the moisturizer once a week (my country is hot & humid)

I started having acne @14 y.o. but the worst is about a year & a half ago where suddenly I got painful & red cystic acne, my face is practically swollen (26 now). Tried lots of things, from Aspirin mask, Lemon, Tea Tree, Diane 35, & every other possible acne products (ProActive, Body Shop, Vinchy, Cetaphil, etc), but to no avail. Started using Carley's @ about May08 (found the testimonials @ Acne.org when I was researching for acne solutions..Thank you~). It worsen at the first 1 month but I persevered (my skins condition is already so bad, that I decided to finish till the bottom of the bottle (Kick Ass 5%)) then my skin becomes very smooth. I love facials (but still using Carley's) and the beautician@the Spa have commented how remarkably smooth my face feels now. Now that my acne is gone, I'll use the 2% formulation. I use the moisturizer only once a week, I don't use toner, I just spray my face with Avene/Evian (act as both toner & moisturizer). Fits my laziness & pocket-depth =p

Pros:

Results fairly quickly, easy to use.

Cons:

Quits working after a while, expensive, made my skin tomato red.

Was worth a try but for me the nice results were temporary. Their customer service department gave me some story that you have to take a break from it occassionally because your skin gets used to it and it quits working(?) - whatever! I used it on and off for years but my skin was never 100% clear. I'm still looking for the holy grail and I just ordered Dan's AHA+. PA Solution is very, very pricey so I always bought it on Ebay. I finally quit using it because I was tired of the expense and it made my skin tomato red after a while so my makeup always looked strange.

Pros:

Works well, one of the best BP treatments available

Cons:

Makes skin very red and stings for first few weeks. Like another user below, I also don't like the fact that the packaging has "ACNE.ORG" plastered on the front. The pump bottle can be a bit useless at times. EXPENSIVE SHIPPING to UK.

A great BP product but the shipping is way too high, especially for us UK customers who also get screwed on VAT and importation duties. The starter kit costs well over $100 with the shipping and fees.

Pros:

I have been using Proactiv for 5 years now.And my face has cleared up alot.No pimples at all, Where ever I go someone is telling me that I have beautiful skin. It truely works You just have to continue to use it every day.

Cons:

When you stop using it for a month or two, yes your face will break out. But I have learned to elimated the last step (the lotion) your face will not break out at all.

True enough your face will break out. the reason is that it is getting all the pores and dead cells out of your skin and of course your face has to get worse before it gets better. And know you can go to the mail to one of those Kiosk and get it individual that's another plus. And the mask is awesome!

Pros:

very cheap, I like the way Dan does business, it works, more or less.

Cons:

It is drying, which makes my skin look flaky under make up and time consuming to wait for skin to dry... wash hands a million times, making them dry as well, lol.

I began using this product as Dan recommended, slowly wk 1) 1/2 a pump only at night, wk2) 1 pump only at night then wk 3) I tried using it in the morning as well and my skin became so dry it was pretty much unbearable though it was much clearer... so I settled for only using this at night. Not to mention, you're not supposed to get this in your eye area and that's pretty much impossible if you wear make up. I still get pimples but they're fewer and far between and it works better than pretty much anything I've tried, well at least with the least amount of side effects.

Pros:

with time it took away most of the acne out of my face!!. I believe that using proactiv plus changing your eating habits contributed in reducing my acne to nearly gone status

Cons:

when i first tried it..it made my skin reddish pink as well as making my skin crack and dry.

before i wrote this review I gave proactiv a chance (2months and change) thus far it has not disappointed me. Although you will need a moisture to help deal with the dryness that does come with this product. If you're sensitive skin, as I am, please be aware that there is a possibility that you're might turn reddish but not to much. With given time the dryness and reddish colored complexion goes away as it will truly does leave you with clear skin in the end. I RECOMMEND THIS PRODUCT!!!!!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
