Pros:

Cleared Up face at first
The BP cleanser used as a mask worked nice

Cons:

after six months of use it stopped working
never really cleared up my face completely

For a while it seemed like it was my miracle but suddenly it stopped working and my face is just as bad as it was. Customer service was horrible and during part of it they ran out of my cleanser and sent me one that didn't work. It never did clear up my face completely while it worked for about 6 months.

Pros:

Cleared my Acne

Cons:

Can be very drying
BP burns a little
Expensive

I have been using Proactiv for 9 years. Its been the only thing that can keep my acne under control. I can go months without out having one pimple. (I usually get one around "that time of the month). But I am okay with getting one. Proactiv doesnt work for everyone...but it DID work for me..and I swear by it. I have tried going off Proactiv and to try new products and I break out like madd.

Pros:

Clears a random zit every now and then

Cons:

Leaves huge red marks
Burns

This will clear up a pimple fast, but it makes the red marks huge and last way longer than if I let the pimple go away normally! Very annoying, and not worth it. Next time I will try 2.5% instead

Pros:

it works

Cons:

takes a little longer then wanted to work/drys skin, affected alot by outside weather

i use it alot, but with zapzyts gel, great combo

Pros:

-Gentle on skin
-Smelled fine (unlike some acne products)

Cons:

-Left me with acne scars
-Did not help my breakouts in the long-run
-Made skin extra oily at night
-Wash dried out skin
-Over all that time, ended up costing a lot of money!

I started using Proactiv for the first time about three years ago and stopped using it because I was not happy with the results I was receiving. I then went back to it about a year and a half ago because what I was using at the time was making my skin break out worse than ever. I just recently discontinued using Proactiv. It took me quite some time to realize that it really was not doing anything positive for my skin. The lotion made my skin extremely oily overnight and the wash dried out my skin- worst combination!

Pros:

cleared my acne!!
makes skin soft and smooth
i dont get anymore severe breakouts

Cons:

a bit drying

I will never go back to any other product. The Clinique Acne Solutions kit cleared all of my acne. I used to have bead whiteheads/blackheads and red skin all over! Now its like I'm a whole new person! LOVE this stuff!

Pros:

Easy to apply
Seems to be the only 2.5% BP

Cons:

Extremely drying
Small bottle for the price

I have very very sensitive skin, and i thought that this was the main culprit of my dryness. I found out it was my cleanser, so i will have to give this stuff a try with my new cleanser and see how it goes! I haven't been seeing that much of a difference in my skin, but i'll keep on keeping on.

Pros:

The original formula really worked for me

Cons:

The "new and improved" formula destroyed my face

I was in love with the original product, it did wonders for me for 5 years. I used the repairing lotion only a few times a week because it does dry skin badly if used everyday. Other than that, it was perfect. Last October, I bought the amazing new formula that supposedly is faster, gentler (and for some reason, a little cheaper). After the first two weeks, my skin felt rough and irritated, and looked red. My overall skin tone was blotchy. I've never had acne on my forehead or the sides of my cheeks and I got HUGE blemishes that would not go away for 3 months. I threw it away when they developed and haven't touched Proactiv again. The company destroyed a great product and a lot of faces for cheaper production and higher profit.

Pros:

clear the acne initially

Cons:

then getting pimple, after pimple and pimple again
make the skin so dry especially at the edge of lips

did not work for me at all. i really regret bought this. the salesgirl said the acne appears and appears because of purging effect. then, i wait and wait till 6 months, there was no improvement of disappearing acne and scars. so i started to quit use this 3 step anti blemish solution. i'm back using loreal white perfect facial cleanser and just use clinique compact powder for make up. no foundation because my skin is sensitive to foundation. i also take vitamin E and vitamin C from Shaklee for the internal treatment for my skin. now, i feel much better.

Pros:

-Clears Up Acne FAST
-Cheap

Cons:

-Drys Up Skin
-Irritating At First
-Burning At First

I use this with the Clean & Clear Acne Spot Treatment & it's great! This would dry up my skin in applied areas. But the clean & clear wouldnt. Also, since ClearZit had Benzoyl Peroxide & the Clean & Clear had Salicyic Acid, the two worked amazingly! Try it!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
