3 Months in - noticeable improvements.
I've had moderate to severe cystic acne all my life from puberty (I'm 21 now). I've been on the regimen for 3 months now and I do see an improvement but I'm not breakout free yet. Pimples that I do get seem to be going away faster and stubborn cysts are definitely shrinking. The downside is that this regimen takes a really long time to work and the dryness is excessive - I've even had to quit wearing skin makeup (not even a tinted moisturiser). I do intend to continue using this for about a year. If I'm not clear by then, I'll quit and head back to the dermatologist.

Works, but beware of side effects - If tanning (skin discolouration) occurs, stop immediately.
Conclusion: Follow Dan's advice- If skin discolouration (brown/orange 'tanning') occurs during use, stop immediately. BP Pro's: It was pretty good at stopping new spots appearing. BP Con's: 1. Every spot that did appear when using BP would scar and so the number of apparent spots on my face would not be any less than before using BP, even though far less new spots were appearing. (When i say scar, I mean hyperpigmentation marks, each of which take 6-9 months to disappear for me) 2. 'Tanning' (Skin discolouration): Dan does say that one side effect of BP is skin discolouration and that BP should be stopped if this occurs. I started to 'tan' after a week or two of using the product - skin was becoming more orange/brown, but not in a nice tan way - my skin was an unhealthy shade and there were noticeable rings around my eyes and lines on my neck (where I wasn't using BP). A lot of users on acne . org say this is a common and temporary side effect which may go away, so I persevered. It did not go away, and I stopped BP. However, it is now 4-5 months since stopping BP (and all other acne . org products) and the 'tan' is still as apparent as it was 1 week after stopping - there has been no fading in the last 4 months so it seems it may be permanent. The resultant 'tan lines' are almost as much of a problem as the acne itself, and whilst acne will disappear with age, I am now worried that the 'tan' wont. Other relevant details: - I built up (over a period of 1 month or so) to applying BP twice daily. I would use dan's moisuriser and cleanser as directed too. I also added in AHA after another month or so and used this every couple of days. I followed all of the acne . org instructions. I did not have any other side effects from BP (other than dry skin, which became less of a problem upon using AHA). After the 'tanning' became quite apparent, I reduced the BP to once daily, not twice, and did not observe any change. I thought the 'tan' may have been due to the yellow pigment in the moisturiser but this was not the case (I trialled switching moisturisers and this did not change anything). I also thought that the 'tan' may have been due to the UV sensitivity that occurs upon using AHA, however it was winter at the time (in UK) and there was essentially zero sun. - I have white skin which tans averagely - I am not particularly sensitive to the sun.

Good middle tier acne treatment
For the price this product did a really good job for me. I'm not the world's richest man so I usually go with a CVS 5% benzoyl peroxide solution or something similar to that. I have tried a few craft products and proactiv before. This product was a little cheaper than those and delivered similar results. Pretty happy with the level of moisturizer and overall smoothness that this product delivered. I will certainly try it again and see if the results are able to maintain over time.

Works, but...
I'm a 36 year old male who has struggled with acne and have long used this product. It does work, but the quality has gone down a bit. Feels a bit diluted. Personally I've gotten tired of smearing this all over my face every day. It will dry your skin and bleach everything including pillow cases and sheets. I'm going to try switching to a wash.

Nothing ever worked !
Nothing.. not even Proactive or whatever its called. I've had acne for almost 10 years !! Im 22 now, so im soooo relieved to find a product that actually CLEARED my skin. You don't know how amazing it feels to go out in public everyday and not have to worry about makeup or if someone is looking at your acne. I ordered the kit late February and my skin looked better in just 2 days, by week one my skin was almost completely clear !! I did have some dryness but that was not really an issue for me because my mom makes a face serum that cleared up the dryness instantly without making me breakout, and actually gave me a nice glow throughout the day (: i just wanted to say THANK YOU ACNE.ORG !!!!!!!

Finally found something that works for my son
My 15 year old son has tried many treatments over the years. The Deevoo system finally works for him. He used it faithfully for about 6 months and was looking really good. Then he relaxed on doing it twice every day. He didn't want to take the time to let things dry in between each step. His acne started to come back. He's starting to use it every day again like he should. My 13 year old daughter has started using it now, too.

Saved by acne.org
I have suffered with acne for about 5+ years, i have tried salima skin solution, murad, mario badescu, viverskin, TX skin, drug store products and all sorts of masks. Nothing truly helped me with my acne like this company. It truly helped me.

Works great and the consistency is perfect
I always thought I was allergic to benzoyl peroxide until I found the acne.org products and regimen. This benzoyl peroxide strength works great-- you don't need a higher percentage. The key is to moisturize sufficiently after using it. I have extremely oily skin, but I use a moisturizer (Cerave pm facial moisturizing lotion, oddly enough) mixed with a drop of acne.org jojoba oil after the bp lotion in the morning, and the same moisturizer mixed with acne.org AHA lotion after bp lotion before bed. I've been doing this for 8 months and my skin is clear with great texture and no flakiness for the first time in DECADES: all thanks to the regimen developed by acne.org.

Not for me
I first heard about this product from a friend who swears by this product. She's been using it for a long time and it's done wonders for her skin, so naturally I was very excited to try it out. I followed every step perfectly, didn't miss a single day. At first, like they said it would, my skin got worse. I kept waiting for the day it would get better, but that day never came. I used the product for about 2 months, until I started running out of the toner and didn't want to order another kit because it was clearly not for me. I didn't mind the application process, it was straightforward and nothing smelled bad like some acne treatments. But it made my skin, especially around my mouth, very very dry. I was moisturizing but that didn't help, I was flaking all over the place. Not only did it not fix the small breakouts I've always been getting, but I got some gnarly pimples that I never used to get. I've obviously had a big pimple here and there in the past, but while using this product I was getting them one after the other. Once one would finally leave, another was forming. I live in Canada, so the shipping cost for this product was $20. They do offer a full refund on the kit, which itself is $50, but they don't return the shipping cost and you have to pay to ship it back. Which is understandable, but probably even more of a hassle for me to return it. I e-mailed them about cancelling my membership (if you buy the kit with a membership they will automatically send and charge you for another kit after I believe 60 days or so, and I didn't want another one so I had to cancel) and they were very friendly and accommodating. They even wished me luck on my acne clearing journey and hoped I find a product that works for me soon. I gave it 2 stars because even though it didn't work for me, my friend still says it's amazing for her, and I wouldn't completely suggest ruling it out before trying it.

Have you found a product that does work for you yet? Exposed made my skin worse, yet I still haven't found a product that does.

Nervous and Eager to continue
I've been using this for 8 weeks now. I had a lot of cystic acne break out the first 4 weeks of use but now I will only get a few pimples here and there. I am going to continue and hoping my skin completely clears up. I have tried everything and this is my last hope. My scars have become more noticeable and my face is red most of the time. Could anyone let me know if this redness will go away ? And what is the best scar treatment to use while on the regimen?

Are you following the whole acne.org regimen? Even though my skin is extremely oily, I always follow up bp with moisturizer: in the morning I use Cerave pm facial moisturizer mixed with a drop or 2 of jojoba oil. In the evening I follow up the bp with the Cerave mixed with acne.org's AHA lotion (following their instructions for adding it GRADUALLY or it will sting like the dickens! Following all acne.org's instructions worked great for me!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
