Worked as a teen but not as an adult and their customer service sucks!

I tried this system in my teens when surprisingly, my acne wasn't actually all that bad. My skin, in retrospect was much clearer than it has been in my 30s. I thought it worked great at the time. I think I used it about 6 months then stopped, went to college and got on with life.

Fast forward 15 years and my skin is worse than it ever was back then. I am a hispanic male, very oily skin and unfortunately scars are really noticeable and dark on my skin. I tried modifying my diet then just gave up when that wasn't working and ordered this kit again. Maybe my expectations were too high or something but this time around this product had no effect on my skin, the customer service was horrible at the cost of it just seemed more offensive, maybe because I was paying for it this time :). When I tried to cancel the subscription, they did their best to talk me out of it, and actually succeeded for a month or two while I gave it another shot. Basically just got more money out of me for their crappy product.

I was about to make this review at that time, started looking at other reviews and someone mentioned Ninja Skincare as a miracle product oh and also Laura Mercier or something like that. I hadn't heard of either before so I checked them out. After more digging, the Laura one didn't seem like a good fit for my skin type (plus it was super expensive!) so I reached out to Ninja and really was impressed with their customer service, which was so nice after my experience with Proactive. I decided to give it a shot, nothing to lose really since they offered my money back if it didn't work. And I am really happy to say it is working! After over a year of battling my skin, it is finally coming around after only 2 months with Ninja. I am thrilled and not ashamed of my skin any more.

So Proactive might not work, doesn't seem to work for many people really, but there are things that do work so don't give up!

majorly mixed feelings

I have mild to sometimes moderate acne and the regimen itself defintely helped clear my acne. But it left my skin mostly my cheeks extremely red and irritated. Using the regimen my skin was extremely dry even having oily skin, my skin would constantly peel off sometimes in hard clumps. It also tanned my skin unnaturally. Don't use if you have sensitive skin.

now that they've changed the ingredients it does nothing for my skin! :@

improvement noticed

i started using this product 3 weeks ago. just the treatment and i have seen sinificant changes though my acne keeps coming back. especially around my chin and jaw line. at least the pimples dry faster which is a good thing but i dnt know why i keep getting newer breakouts. the skin around my eyes can not stand the benzoyl. it makes it look ages older and all wrinkly. so when i apply the benzoyl, i try as much as possible to avoid areas around my eyes and neck. otherwise, am still hopeful it will work for me too and completely eliminate the jaw line acne too.

The Regimen

I started the Regimen a few weeks ago, and I just got a breakout on my cheek, a place I've never had anything before. I don't know if it is getting worse before better, but I am worried.

New Formula Awful!!!
Lord why did they change the formula.?.?.?.? Most stupid idea ever. Do not purchase instead find a product that contains glycolic acid. They took it out.

Couldn't give 5 because I'm not sure if I'm using it correctly!
Adjusting to the product...But I never received instructions and the product seemed tampered with. I'm still using it even though I'm not certain if I'm using it correctly. Placed a second order, so hopefully it came with instructions!

Love some products, not others.
I really like the foaming facial cleanser and toner. They last a very long time (which is good for the high price). But definitely didn't like the moisturiser and had to change that for something else. Would choose the foaming facial cleaner over the 'new' cleansing gel any day. Facial cleanser and toner I've been using as my main solution for a few years now, and can say they never irritated my skin like most products did, plus keeping down the spots.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
