To be fair, I have only been using the product for two weeks. However I am not new to benzoyl peroxide. I used to use Clinique's 2.5% BP cream for 8 years until they discontinued it. I have been looking for an a new acne treatment since. I started using a 5% BP that was working at keeping my breakouts away, but it was a little too drying for me (even with moisturizing), which is why I decided to give this a try. I understand that this product could cause initial purging however downgrading from a 5% BP to 2.5% should not have caused one in the first place (especially as bad as the one I am having now) , considering my skin was relatively clear with a few breakouts here and there at a certain time. My skin got pretty bad within the last two weeks (the worst its been since I was a teen), which is why I am giving up only after two weeks and going back to my 5%. The new breakouts I am getting are definitely more painful and red, they also linger for some time, which is why I am not sure if this is an initial purging period, or my skin just doesn't like it. The reason I gave 2 stars instead of 1 is because it did not dry me out or cause any irritation. It didn't even feel like I was using a BP treatment. I believe that 2.5% is strong enough and not everyone needs 5/10%, but I am not sure that this exact one works for me. My personal advice to someone starting out BP for the first time, don't give up after 2 weeks like me, stick to it for AT LEAST a month, because you might be purging in the beginning. In my case, I don't think I am due to my past experience with BP (which has never really caused purging in the first place). If you're switching from another BP treatment that was working well to this and keep having a bad reaction, I suggest going back to the old BP. The 5% I was using was medical grade and a lot more expensive than this, which was another reason I wanted to switch, but if it keeps my breakouts away, I am willing to spend the money!
Update: I went back to my 5% BPO and my inflamed red breakouts have calmed down and are healing. This BPO was definitely causing a bad reaction and not purging, considering the breakouts weren't small and in the regular areas but were red and inflamed all over.
I just finished my 3rd week on the regimen and I couldn't be happier with the results. I had never experienced severe acne, I had more of a moderate acne which would get a little worse around that time of the month and my skin used to be super red all the time, especially around my cheeks and chin. The first week and onto the 2nd week on the regimen I got a little breakout (as it is stated on the acne.org website) and i had read about that prior to starting the regimen so I did not freak out. But that cleared up very quickly. My face got super super super dry and flaky at the end of 1st week and all 2nd week. I went on youtube and search for videos and found that some people who use the regimen use some sort of face oil to exfoliate. (keep in mind, I haven't started using the AHA glycolic acid yet because the instructions says to start that only after being on the regimen for a month) So since I use jojoba oil with the moisturizer to help with dryness, I did what people suggested on youtube and went ahead and exfoliated my face using just jojoba oil and my finger tips (gently doing circular motions all over my face) It worked! This happened the 3rd week. My skin is naturally oily but im loving the extra moister because of how dry I got from the benzoyl peroxide(the treatment). I haven't been able to wear any makeup, I did try putting on makeup and it just looked terrible due to the peeling and dryness. But I do not care at this point, my skin is acne free, the only thing I gotta work on from now on is fading the scarring from old acne. SO FAR SO GOOD. Thank you Acne.org for boosting up my confidence and self-esteem. I hope that in a couple of weeks I can wear some makeup though, I miss getting all dolled up <3
The reason I gave it 4 stars is because I haven't been on the regimen for that long and I believe my skin will get even clearer and smoother as time goes.
Hello. I was actually really looking forward to using the regimen, and also expectet great results, but now i regret even buying it.
I was on day 14 of the 3 step regimen (cleanser, treatment, moistrizer) and was using the products according to the instructions. (I didn't use any other products for the last two weeks) I woke up this morning with my skin feeling extremely itchy and red. It looks like got a sunburn all over my face. I am not sure, but I suspect my skin reacted allerigic to one of the products, probaby the benzoyl peroxide?
Obviously I won't be using it again, which is really upsetting since I spent quite a lot of money on the skincare products.
I started practicing the Acne.org regimen and it dramatically changed my skin. I use the cetaphil gentle skin cleanser with the Acne.org BP and Neutrogena sensitive skin lotion with 2 drops of Jojoba oil and my acne has been controlled. The BP along with a non comedogenic cleanser and moisturizer is a game changer. Try it! blessings!
My skin has been plagued with all types of acne for years now. I had tiny little bumps all over my face, and I'd frequently see pimples on my cheeks and forehead. My chin would get painful cysts. Bad stuff all around. Lot's of little red spots. It was always something new each week and even with products like Paula's Choice that helped a lot, I could never get it under control without completely drying my face out. That's what makes this regimen so different is that it provides a moisturizer that counteracts the drying effect you will have from the BZP treatment. After nearly 3 weeks of using this treatment, my skin feels like it did before I was a teenager. Yes, it's true! It's completely smoothed and even free of the little bumps I used to have. I did not expect it to work so well. I've been using a zinc serum at night which has helped with the scarring. Here's a recap of each of the products:
Wash: Simple no fuss cleaning every morning and night. I like that it foams up and doesn't over dry my skin although sometimes it will feel a bit tight after a wash.
BZP Treatment: This is the good stuff. It will dry out your skin though even with moisturizer so just be mindful. The regimen does make it clear that you have to use a lot when you're using it in order to get results so I just shifted to putting that amount on my face once a day instead of twice. It is extremely effective. My skin is more or less entirely clear after less than a month of using it. I had mild acne before so it was never too out of control but enough to be bothersome day in and day out. Very happy with how the BZP product worked for my face.
Moisturizer: My absolute favorite part of this whole kit is the moisturizer. I've never felt something instantly hydrate my skin so well. You'll find it does sit on the skin, but it eventually soaks in to give you a supple glow. I don't think this regimen would be what it is without this component. In the past my skin ALWAYS dried out so much with the treatment part and I'd have to stop the treatment because dry skin is also terrible. Even if I stop using the treatment for whatever reason, I'll continue to buy the moisturizer, it is a skincare life changer.
From my experience, I would absolutely recommend anyone experiencing stubborn and annoying mild acne try the regimen once. It's affordable compared to a lot of products and you get a decent amount out of it. I haven't felt my skin like this in years and it's just nice to feel good about your skin. Definitely worth it. Shout out to TikTok where I found out about this product!
I’ve been using this benzoyl treatment for about 7 years now and I love it! I put it anywhere I feel like a acne is brewing: face, back, derrière, chest, stomach, seriously everywhere and it works! If I catch them early enough and start applying a couple times a day as a spot treatment, they will go away!!! I use as an area treatment when I know my period is coming and I’m typically going to break out around my t-zone and chin area and I can catch the acne before it even starts. I’ve shared with many friends and family over the years and they’re happy with the results too! I don’t have super bad acne, just a handful of zits here and there but I play a lot of sports and I get acne around my sports bra and tights areas and this helps in those areas too. I don’t use any other products, just this treatment and it works amazing for me. I like that it goes on thin and I can put make up over it.
I'm a big fan of the acne.org regimen, but this acne.org brand benzoyl peroxide isn't great. It's incredibly watery even when shaken before use, which makes it travel onto other areas and surfaces more easily. When using target to cvs brand benzoyl peroxide, I don't have to worry about bleaching my clothes and sheets, but the acne.org brand bleaches everything so much. It also doesn't seem to work as well as formulations that are thicker and less watery, and makes my eyes water even when applied to my chin.
the worst products which have completely ruined my face. I have been using the cleanser and moisturizer everyday for about 2.5 weeks now and I have cystic acne all over. Before I would break out mainly on my chin and maybe a pimple a week. I have like 5 big bumps everywhere. Its going to take me a long time to clear these scars now! BEWARE
I’ve been using this product for two years and it’s literally the BEST! I have struggled with acne ever since I was in middle school. I would say that my acne was severe! And because I didn’t know much about acne and what products to use, I spent a lot of time and money on products that made my face even worse. This led to acne scars. I was skeptical at first when buying the products because I have had no progress with the other ones from other companies. I also again had severe acne which didn’t seem to disappear. When using this for the first time I could see the results! And after a year of using it I barely had anymore acne! My acne scars have cleared up too(most of them)! I’m so thankful for this product which helped me a lot. I also use other products to help with the process but overall this product was the main reason. I heard a lot of Curology and tried that too see if it would be as good as this, but Curology made my acne worse. I used this product to help after that, and like magic it helped my acne disappear. Of course it’s all about the process and waiting! But it’s definitely worth it!
when did your peeling end?
