Pros:

Smells nice

Cons:

Expensive, Made my acne a lot worse, horrible customer service.

Don't waste your time or money. My acne worsened and kept getting worse. I used the product as directed, called Proactiv to tell them that it was worse after 3 months and the customer service told me "It will get worse before it gets better" so I continued to use it for 6 months, and now I have deep, red and horrible scars due to the severity of the acne that this product has caused.

Pros:

none

Cons:

made my skin very dry, and flaky. also makes my face feel really hot.

I've been using this product for two-months now hoping it would be the miracle cure that i was looking for. after all the positive reviews i decided to give it a try but it let me down. i followed the instructions step by step but my acne remained the same. very disappointing, waste of money.

Pros:

Carley's Clear & Smooth is the ONLY thing that works for me. Everytime that I run out and try other products, my acne comes back in full effect. I have used Carley's for about five years now and highly recommend it. It is so easy to use -- especially in the shower.

Cons:

No cons.

If you want to get rid of "boils" and other acne, just use this stuff on a daily basis.

Pros:

skin feels clean and smooth

Cons:

increased breakouts
redness
drying
flaking
burning
step 3 clashes with wearing makeup

I bought this product because I am tired of acne breakouts. I have tried Proactiv in the past, and that did work but I couldn't afford that product anymore. I purchased this product about 10 days ago and have been doing the full regimen once a day for about 10 days. My face has never been more broken out than this! I keep at it every morning faithfully hoping that the new breakouts are just the result of this product "getting rid" of the hidden bacteria/ acne in my face--thank goodness I don't use it twice a day as it recommends. My skin is dry and around my eyes (as crazy as this may sound) seems so dry that I feel as if it is aging me! Maybe I am using to too close to my eyes.... The repair lotion leaves a thick residue that shows up through your foundation, and the nighttime cream is thickand hard to spread evenly over your face. I will keep at it for another few days, but if no clearing by then, I can't promise much more. I was expecting clearer skin--not worse skin.

Pros:

Dries up any existing breakouts and stops new ones breaking out!
Invisible gel. Easily absorbed. No animal testing or animal products.

Cons:

A light medication smell but nothing horrendous.
As expected, as covered in the acne.org FAQs, took a few weeks for me for my skin to get used to it (was quite red at first) but it was worth sticking with it.

I stopped taking minocycline as I'd had enough of taking drugs and was looking for an alternative and found acne.org. Now I no longer have to take drugs! It works! Give it time and make sure you follow all the instructions on acne.org and read all the FAQs.

Pros:

none. well, the bottles were nice and sturdy I suppose

Cons:

it made my skin literally start to peel off. I'm very active in sports so my skin would get oily and break out and this didn't help at all. it hurt so much. I also talked to a good friend of mine & she said it made HER skin peel off, too.

unless you want to start losing your face and look like a burn victim, do not use this product!!

Pros:

Absolutely works but you MUST stick with it. The original version did not work for me but I used the Extra Strength version and overall it does a good job.

Cons:

The only issue is that I still have periodic breakouts but they are now where near what I had without Proactiv.

Overall a very good product and cost effective give its daily use- BUT you have to be consistent with it. For me, it did take several weeks before I saw significant results but the customer service staff noted that this can be the issue with some people. Since I didn't develop acne until well into my adult years, it's been heard to find a product that has worked. But all in all, this is the clearest my skin has been since the onset of acne.

Great for Teens and Early Acne Prone
I think this is a great kit for a teen or early acne-prone individual. It works fairly well but more importantly teaches the basics of a skin care regimen. It is easy to use and creates a method for those to start adapting good skin care habits for long term. Not so sure on the use of the toner except to remove any dirt that wasn't removed [link edited out] the first product. If a product were removed from this I would say the toner could be. This could also be a good start for an adult who was developing acne at a later age and who had not had it early on. Good basic regimen to begin with. Also white sheet and towel alert - it bleaches so use light or white sheets and towels.

Watch your account, they come around on the back side while your not looking and take money right out of your account. Here comes Karma!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
