Pros:

Easy to use and comes with all the necessary supplies for face cleaning

Cons:

Didn't really work. Improvement was minimal at best. Product was used as directed for over 2 years.

Product provides some help. Biggest problem is cancelling. Company apparently refused to cancel account when requested. After cancelling and closing my auto-pay, not so proactive, Proactiv, decided to reopen the account 6 months later and then used a false "billing address" to send the supposed 10 billing notices. One year later we are sent to collections; somehow they magically remembered our address to pass to the collection agency. We contacted Proactiv and found out that they can't help us due to lack of concern. After transferring to 3 departments, they said it was not their problem!

Pros:

-can feel it cleansing your pores
-clears acne
-smells goooooood!

Cons:

-may sting

Well, I used this thingy for like a month. And, then, my acne cleared but then I switched to things like SeaBreeze, the Wave, and Murad. And NOTHING else worked. So, I'm going back to this. Hope you enjoy it as much as I doo!(:

Pros:

It got rid of pimples here and there.
Eliminated some blackheads.
Slowly clearing my face.

Cons:

The whole product stung my face crazy in the first few days.

This product is actually clearing my skin. I've never seen it so clear for years. My acne isn't that severe so I'm not sure how it reacts to people with severe acne. As far as I know, reviews of everyone with every type of acne here in this site are such negative reviews. I was utterly surprised because my bestfriend and my other close friends have been using Proactiv for years now. And their skin are flawless. And I'm not talking about people with light acne. They suffered through severe acne. So 2 months ago, my face began with small blemishes. I left it be. But it just got worse. So, I researched and tried many home remedies which completely worsen the already worse acne. My mom ended up buying me Proactiv. I've been using it for two weeks and my face has never been better. I'm a teen by the way.

Pros:

Helped skin a tiny bit.

Cons:

My skin is so dry that it sometimes hurts, and it's still not clear after 3-4 weeks of using proactiv.
They already send me more stuff, because I signed up online so i'm a member, apparently but I told them that I didn't what anymore because it don't help me. After waiting for 10 minutes for the customer service, listining to horrible waiting music, and talking to a person for 15 minutes, I got out of it. I have to send the next order back, which hopefully will be the last. I'm pissed at

Do not order proactiv. If you do, don't do it online, and when you call, make sure that they don't make you a member. Proactiv maybe help you a bit, but not in the long run, it's not worth it!

Pros:

Since it's a gel, it doesn't dry too fast like a cream. It never leaves residue like other BP products. It's not gritty (thank goodness, like Zapzit). It's cheap, the ingredients are phenomenal. It doesn't smel; there's no fragrance, which is great for sensitive skin. Maybe it's because I've tried so many other products that the BP never dried up my skin like it's expected to, which is great!

Cons:

Nothing really, except that it takes a few minutes to apply and have it dry. So make sure that you wake up a few minutes earlier because it takes a bit of time if you are following Dan's method. My moisturizer would ball up if I didn't let this dry, which is inevitable to all of us if aren't following Dan's method.

I absolutely can't live without this item anymore. I've tried so many things and I am surprised! I would buy this for the rest of my life. I wish that I had purchased this sooner.

Pros:

-Makes my skin feel clean and energized
-Inexpensive

Cons:

None

I've only been using this product for a small number of days, but i LOVE IT. I noticed the first time I used it that the cleanser was actually cleaning my skin, and the toner made my skin feel great and energized.

Pros:

cleared existing acne and prevented new acne from developing.
dries clear.
did not experience any flakiness, just mild redness.

Cons:

wish it was readily available at the store.

works great for clearing up acne. i have used it for a little over a week and the difference is amazing. since starting the regimen, i have not had a new pimple form and my old ones have dried up and just the he annoying red marks are left- nothing that a little concealer won't help. try the product.

Pros:

I didnt find anything good about this product

Cons:

You have several steps, your face feels greasy like after using, then rubbery, then like a heat rash or sunburn, I find if you miss anything even only once you break out like a war zone, definately didnt work just made it worse in the end...... now I started with light to moderate acne its now full moderate and then some.

They are rip off, con artists, I ordered these products for 3 months, I called and cancelled my subscription, and removed my credit card, well next thing you know I am recieving kits and they are trying to bill my credit card, I cancelled the card, then they sent me kits and bills in the mail. is there not something wrong with this picture, I said I didnt want it, I said I didnt like it but they continue to find someway to send it and bill it, I have moved im almost positive they are sending the same crap along with bills in my name to the same place ....... these people obviously do not understand that I do not want it. I used the first month or so and I found if I missed just one application of anything that my skin would break out ten times worse then when started, I found my skin to be greasy after first few uses, then it turned rubbery like and then rashed out as if it were heat rash or sunburn, I stopped using it and then next thing you know my skin turned into a more severe acne problem, i get red rashes on my face, i cant use anything it took a long time to tame the aftermath of proactiv, I am now after 6-8months of non use getting my skin back to a controllable form, I am now only using toner (with wich hazel) 2x day by oil of olay and an occasional wash by oil of olay and it is slowly coming back and clearing up, I do not suggest anyone use this if they have sensitive skin, but then again i wouldnt suggest anyone use it at all...... not a good outcome at all........... I was faithfull in the use & application with a seldom missed application..... so i think by my experience it is safe to say ..... its a rip..... it sucks.... just my experience

Pros:

worked for a couple of weeks

Cons:

it stopped working after a couple of weeks
expensive
caused more breakouts at a more severe level

I broke out with adult acne around 21, I just turned 26. I never had enough of it for anyone to prescribe me anything, they always refused. I am now in the media and needed to try something to rid my face of ANY break outs however, this did not happen. I actually have more break outs now than before. I also have these little bumps on my forehead that I never had before! I have been on proactive since November so, I've been on it long enough for any results to occur if there were going to be any. Also, my husband has noticed that I now have acne scarring when a breakout occurs. My breakouts consist of a single pimple on my cheek, FYI.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
