Pros:

Works very well
Reasonable price
Good customer service most of the time
Very good refund policy (60 days)

Cons:

Small containers (Doesn't last)
Refining lotion caused my skin to go oily if I apply it on all of my face and leave it for more than an hour.

I used to have moderate acne, but very big painful and swollen pimples. It was so bad and uncoverable. I have used everything, natural and chemical products and nothing worked. My cousins have used Proactiv for quite a few years and they were really happy with it so they recommended it to me. And now I am using it and really happy with it. There are times where I had completely clear skin, except for the scars I had but no pimples at all. I get occasional pimples every now and then but only 1 or 2, and not as often. You have to use Proactiv for a while to notice improvement. I have been using it for over a year now. For people who say it smells, it's not smelly at all, I don't know where they brought up the smell problem from. It does give you a tingly feeling when you apply the refining lotion, but that means it's working. For people who say it makes skin flaky, well don't apply the lotion on all your face, just the pimples or the area with acne. This is what I do to avoid dryness and flakiness. And I usually use the 5pack (Cleanser, refining lotion, refining mask, toner and moisturizer) and I used their tinting moisturizer when I go out as part of my makeup and sunscreen. So I would definitely recommend using it :-)

Pros:

-tingly
-creamy
-HOLY GRAIL( LIFE SAVER)
-clears acne QUICK

Cons:

-doesn't foam..i like foamy stuff..but that hardly matters..
-can cause alittle dryness, nothing a moisturizer can't fix:)!

I use this once a day and that seems to be all I need. I was getting one bad break out every week and I thought id just have to rely on cover up for ever....but i also swim and people see these ugly things...nobody likes pimples..bottom line. I used this once, and the next day I could see a dramatic difference. Within a week my skin was better than every before. I have used proactive=sucked compared tothis.. and I used scrubs for ever...never doing that again.

Pros:

-Clears Acne
-Doesn't dry out skin
-You don't have to use a moisturizer
-Easy and fast application
-Drys in seconds with no residue

Cons:

-Does take time to clear up-but what medicine doesn't?
-Occasional flare up

This has worked great for me. I have used Epiduo, Differin, Tazorac, Retin-a, Benzaclin, every antibiotic, and tons of different prescriptions and over the counter treatment. The only thing I haven't done is accutane but with only moderate acne I don't feel accutane is worth the risks. This has kept my acne under control the most consistently and has been the best working. If you have acne and use tons of prescription topicals you might want to try this. It worked great and continues to work great.

Cons:

*VERY drying
*Expensive
*Doesn't work

This product didn't really do anything for me. It was so drying, it got to the point where it would burn when applied. I can see how this may work in mild cases, but I would not recommend this product to anyone with a serious acne problem.

Pros:

Works a lot better than other products

Cons:

Drying, expensive (with shipping), the whole regimen takes a good half hour out of my morning and evening, skin still very oily and not 100% clear

I've been on Dan's Regimen for almost a year now and I have to say it's the best thing i've used...and I've used everything besides accutane. It took a few months to start seeing results, you just have to wait it out. Also, my acne still isn't 100% clear, I still get breakouts here and there but they're much smaller and less frequent than before. At first, the BP was incredibly drying, even when using jojoba oil mixed in with my moisturizer. I finally found people on here using jojoba oil in between washing face and BP as kind of a exfoliation massage and, boy, it works wonders! Also, i've been experiencing more frequent breakouts on my forehead, a place where I never really got acne before the regimen. Not sure how to fix that. The only big downside is that the regimen takes a lot longer than i'd like (about 30 mins in the AM, 30 in PM), but you have to do what you have to do!

Pros:

It controls acne better then anything I have tried before....Pro active, Nutregena, Obagi & other stuff. Once in a blue moon I do breakout but it's mostly under control. 2nd time going around first bottle lasted little over 4 months.

Cons:

-Price (it does last a long time but if you add in the moisturizer or get the package deal + $8) it can get expensive. But it feels so natural and chemical free it's great.

-Customer Service: I did not have to return any product yet so I don't know about that. But Steve is really rude if you write them a question or have any concerns he tries to laugh it off & writes very rude emails back. But if you can get past that & just focus on product it's great.

Get this if you have acne. Try it atleast once it worked out really good for me better then the acne.org stuff ...this has wayyyy less chemical crap & quality stuff. I have cystic acne and this really controls it well.

While reading some of these reviews, I just had to put my 2 cents in. This product is wonderful. Someone had mentioned having to use to many washclothes or something. I NEVER use washclothes. I use it in the shower and then rinse and then use the soap and rinse. That works great for me. As far as the scrub maybe being to harsh, you can always use the scrub lightly with your fingers. You have control over how hard or light you scrub or try using every other day. I highly recommend there products!!! I use several of their products and have for a while now. Love them!

Pros:

Took and keeps away acne; love the smoothness I have using this daily in the shower; cost is excellent; ingredients are superb

Cons:

nothing in my opinion; I do run out when my budget gets tight - that's the only con I have

If you haven't tried this - do try it; if it doesn't work for you, pass it to someone else - you might make their life so much better if their acne clears up :o);; I read the reviews and thought "too good to be true"; this is not the case for their products - they work for me, they work for thousands and if it works for you, you will love these products and become a lifelong user of them like me ... I buy sunscreen and this stuff - that's all and it has made my "moisturizing life" so much easier and My Skin Loves It. Please don't go anywhere Carley's <3. My search will have to start all over if you do. Thanks so much - I cannot, truly cannot, say enough about the way these work on my face and body - Just Thank You Very Very Much !

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
