Pros:

Got rid of most of my ance from day 1.

Cons:

After day 1 when most of my acne had gone, it left the rest from then on and made my skin red and sore! The grainy lotion is rough on skin!

It works for your very bad acne, but then leaves the annoying tiny spots left, leaves your skin oily, red and sore!

Pros:

Works well and fast. Is pretty consistent

Cons:

Dries out at first so use just once a day and use a good moisturizer.

Proactive didn't work and this did.

Pros:

Cleared up a huge zit on nose after a few hourly applications ( i HAD to make it go away ) and it reduced the pimple! thanks so much, if not i would have gone to school with an angry, fiery pus filled huge pimple on my nose (the terror)

Cons:

Doesnt smell as good as rapid clear 8h gel, kinda pricey..

I would use it for cysts, and occasionally those pus filled ones. But if its more serious i would use the 8h eliminating gel instead..

Pros:

Works within the first few days, little or no fragrance, easy to use, not too much drying, spot treatment with 3-step is fantastic, cleanser not gritty and feels very refreshing, clarifier gets rid of makeup and dead skin, works better than Proactiv

Cons:

A little expensive compared to normal cleansers and toners, takes a little time to use all the steps in the morning

This product works great and is definitely worth the price. I've been using it day and night for about 3 days, and I've seen immediate results. I had slightly oily skin, and my problem areas were cheeks- sides that I slept on, and my forehead where my bangs are. The cleanser is great, and foamy and refreshing, and doesn't feel heavy. The clarifying lotion gave immediate satisfaction, because when you use it on the cotton ball, you could always see the dead skin and makeup it took off. The moisturizer is nice, cuts the drying of the clarifier, and the spot treatment worked great. I only used it at night on a few problem areas, and by morning, they either shrunk or were completely gone (make sure you pull your hair back!) . It makes my skin feel and look smooth, and so clean.

Pros:

Prevents new acne from forming. Clears up some acne

Cons:

Does not completely clear up my skin. Smells bad.

I've used all four kits that acnefree has made. I've had the best success with the original. It seemed to clear my skin the most and make it look soft and glowing. I've also tried the sensitive skin care system. Worse one to date. I by no means have sensitive skin but, lower percentages of acne meds is actually better. It actually burned my skin! It left big red, painful blotches all over my skin.

The lotion is grainy. and I do get super oily. :(

GET IT! Give it a try and you will love it. This has been the only thing that's worked for me. Hopefully it keeps working!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
