Pros:

cheap and works good only for a short while

Cons:

makes skin red and itchy...the 10% Benzoyl peroxide solution is way to much and irritates the skin more better off buying a 2.5%solution...my dermatologist said the lower the Benzoyl peroxide level the better...i suggest proactive's renewing cleanser

do not buy this it does not work and will only make skin worse...best plan is to see a dermtologist who will give you oral antibiotics and it will clear skin up much faster and better

Pros:

my skin was less oily, and my zits went away

Cons:

i got this nasty red rash all over my neck and face. it was way itchy, and didn't go away for a week

don't use it if you have sensitive skin. if you do use it, i would use it once a day, rather than the recommended two to three times.

Pros:

inexpensive, it works!, quick service

Cons:

Absolutely none

I was dealing with adult acne and asked my older sister what she had been using. She had tried just about everything! Someone got her onto Carley's Clear and Smooth cleanser and she was SOLD! She let me try the sample size that came with her product and now I can't live without it! I recently ran out and was using a store brand and boy do I regret that! I just ordered TWO bottles of cleanser and received it today! Can't wait to get in the shower! I've read some of the reviews where people are not happy that their face broke out first. As a former makeup consultant, I know that ANY good cleanser will start with breakouts, because the product is bringing out all of the impurities in your skin. If you are patient, it will truly be good for your skin! LOVE IT!!!

Pros:

Keeps skin very smooth and exfoliated, haven't had any problems with flakiness!

Cons:

The glycolic acid in the toner may be too strong for those with very sensitive skin, but it just gave me a pleasant tingle.

I used to have horrible breakouts and I tried everything except going to a derm, before trying this. I usually get the worst breakouts around "that time of month" or when I'm really stressed I'll break out badly a few days later. I have been using this product almost two months now and for the first two weeks I noticed only a small difference, but probably a month after I had started my skin felt smoother and softer and looked better than it had for years! Needless to say I'm very happy that I can go out without face makeup and not be embarrassed!

Pros:

It was cheap

Cons:

Dried out my face--feels crackly

I've been using this for only 3 days and my cheek, chin and nose area are so dried out, it hurts to smile. I got it because it was oil free...but it just makes my skin feel leathery. This product seriously sucks. I always used Clean & Clear, but this product is horrible!!!

Pros:

It smells better than Proactiv and other products i have used.

Cons:

It made my face red and burned so bad water hurt on my skin.

After I tried this product i am a little frustrated because i have used almost every three part acne system out there and all of them tighten my skin and make it burn, too bad.... i guess

Pros:

It helped clear my acne but I still have scars left over by acne (there's a product they have for hyperpigment which, I'm going to try later).

Cons:

It dries out your skin and may cause peeling.
I minimized my use. I used it at night only. Now it does not dry my skin at all.
(Moisturize well)

Give it a try.

Pros:

The cleanser is somewhat refreshing, and the toner gives you the the feeling that your face is healthy, and clean. And it temporarly stops the irritating feeling pimples sometimes get ( and sometimes relieves puffiness and redness)

Cons:

The cleanser smells unique (not in a good way). And the toner stings, and itchs like crazy, and to top it off the lotion drys your skin out massivly, and sometimes your face gets really, really flakey (I'm not kidding)

When I got this in the mail, I was so excited. A new cleanser, a new toner, and a new lotion. The same day it arrived I tried it for the first time. The cleanser was refreshing, but the feel of my skin felt somewhat uneven, and sometimes even rough. I then applied the cleanser, and had an instant dryness feel. My skin felt like it was going to tear, or fall off. Next I applied the lotion, it didn't help. It felt cakey, and just increased the dryness. Being reasonable I figured my skin was getting used to it. Fast forward to two weeks, my skin was flaking, and had ashy lines, and skin flakes falling off. Then I ran into my bathroom, put the set back in it's box, and through it away. What's the point of this story, STAY AWAY FROM PROACTIV, IT WILL RUIN YOUR LIFE, AND YOUR SKIN.

Pros:

There is improvement.

Cons:

Extremely irritating, stops working after a while, and kind of a pain to apply all three steps.

I used this product for several months before finally giving up. My moderate acne cleared some but no where near completely, and it just wasn't worth all the irritation. My skin burned terribly, got red, got dry, ect. It bascially just hurt.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
