Makeup?
Only been using this for a week, it has brought up more red spots and couple new pimples but that Might be because I only just started using it ?? Also is it best to wear no makeup or has anyone worn makeup and seen great results either way ?

Yes it does kinda get worse before it gets better. I didn't put any makeup during the first 2-3 weeks because I was mainly home, but if you really need to put makeup, then go ahead :) but from my experience makeup doesn't make acne worse, you face will keep improving as long as you're doing the regimen

Second week of using the regimen I had a bad breakout, but it went away quickly. I strongly urge you to try not to wear the makeup. Even if youre sure that your makeup doesnt cause any breakouts. Only apply this regimen onto your skin the first month. There were a few times that I did apply makeup during the first month and trust me I looked worse with the makeup because of the flakiness than without it.

Worked for me!
I have been using this for the last 4 years and it is the only thing that has worked! Even now at age 25, if I slack off on washing my face and using this then my face will break out. This bottle lasts me almost a year because I do not use as much. I use about half of my finger length every morning and evening and it works for me. I had horrible acne before finding this and had been on Accutane for about a month when I had to quit due to some complications. Since using this I have not had any major breakouts and will continue to use it!

Finally Something That Consistently Works!
I'm 44 years old and have had mild to moderate acne since I was 16 years old. I've tried many things over the years; prescription medications, the pill, diet changes, over the counter remedies, proactive, herbal remedies, ect.. and nothing has worked like the Acne.org regimen. I'm so thankful for the products and the forums of this site. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

Saw improvement but SUPER drying.
I'm on the verge of canceling my subscription and discontinuing the use of the Acne.org Regimen because my face feels like sandpaper trying to make certain facial expressions. My skin also developed a dark coat over it but now it's starting to look blotchy and peel , leaving me super self conscious. I rated it 4 stars because I see improvement I'm just not sure what the issue is causing the dryness and how to solve it .

My face looks dirty
I started the regimen last week and I do see my face clearing up but my face looks dirty. My skin texture looks weird and patchy because the dirt and peeling from the benzoyl peroxide. I know I'm not suppose to exfoliate and I should wait a month for the aha+ but my complexion looks horrible, my face looks another color than my body. I want to know if i can exfoliate with sugar and honey to scrub the dead skin off.

Do not! Basically I had a fairly long reply typed out for a word of advice to you and it got deleted. I still wanted to let you know. Don't worry about it. Do not exfoliate with scrubs. Don't over wash. Don't worry about it. The BP works but if you use it regularly it is harsh. You just need to take a heal day or maybe two. Just make sure you stop every now and then to let your face recover. Get a really great heavy moisturizer. Wash with a gentle cleanser that will not only be super gentle, but will restore your faces natural pH. (this helps in absorption of the moisture and in aiding natural antibacterial qualities within the skin) and just slather on the best noncomedogenic moisturizer you can find. You just need to heal. Absolutely 100% do not use the AHA until you are very accustomed to the BP treatment and DO NOT use it too often. Your skin has acne and it needs to be medicated, but it is still skin. You need to be gentle with it and not overdo it. Overfishing, overmedicating, scrubbing, etc. will just make it worse. You will look worse, feel worse, and hate life.

EXTREMELY DRYING
Do not waste your money with Proactive, it's all just good marketing. When I started using Proactiv+ I had a lot of pimples and after trying it for 4 months I saw little results. The biggest issue is it DRIED my skin out like crazy. Before I had very oily skin that I had to blot several times a day, after using Proactiv+ my skin became so dry, it felt very tight and like I was about to get wrinkles. I had to stop using it and it took a few weeks for my skin to go back to normal. It IRRITATES your skin more than helps it.

Yippee!
i love the regimen. I have been dealing with fairly mild but consistent acne since I was an early teen (I'm 25 now) and tried every product under the sun. Harsh clearasil, gentle brands like Simple, all natural products... Expensive Dermalogica. Nothing seemed to help and about six months ago my skin completely freaked out, I had blackheads, whiteheads, tiny little bumps all over my face and red swollen sore bumps that were painful. I didn't want to leave my house and could only do so after spending an insane amount of time covering my skin in makeup. I started using duac at nighttime in January (3 months ago) which is BP 3% and an antibiotic, with my gentle Dermalogica cleanser and own brand superdrug moisturiser with jojoba oil. For a couple of days it was fine, but after that for the next three weeks my skin was red, flakey, irritated and stingy especially on my cheeks and around my mouth, where the skin is less oily. THIS IS WHERE YOU HAVE TO PERSIST! My skin was very slowly starting to clear up, and after six weeks I switched to acne.org products (but keeping duac) and using aha every other night after BP. Now I have just a few persistent blackheads on my nose, only noticeable by me. I have had so many compliments on my skin and am so so happy I found this website and learnt about irritation and stopped scrubbing my face and overloading it with harsh products. Now I just use pore strips a couple of times a week and a body shop clay mask on Sundays. I can't tell you how much this has improved my confidence and my life! I really recommend reading "breaking out" by Lydia Preston as well it is a really good thing to read and understand acne. I sat and read it in one go - learning about how to deal with acne is the first step!!! P.s. Remember to ALWAYS wear sunscreen using BP and AHA - trust me on that! If you don't you get sunburnt irritated skin and will break out a few weeks later!! Factor 30 people!

My skin got automatically smoother. This is probably the first review i ever wrote in my life. I am so thankful. It is easy to apply, i found the packaging convenient and these products have no odor which is a ++++ ! I

Great even for sensitive skin!
I am fair and have incredibley sensitive skin. When I started the regiment I only used a pea size amount once a day in the acne prone areas and avoided the areas not with acne. I have increased to full strength over time and I've had very little redness, itching, or peeling! I have suffered from acne my whole life starting as young as 8yrs old with a few pimples and it progressed through teenage years getting much worse until birth control which cleared my skin. Now I'm in my mid 30s and no longer want to take birth control and my acne came back worse than ever! I have used acne.org products for 6 years now and they are by far the best products I have ever used and trust me I have tried everything from Over-the-counter, professional, and medicines from the dermatologist which only gave temporary relief. These products from acneorg used properly work everytime! A lot of my acne is hormonal so I still have a light monthly breakout but nothing like the past! Using these products the duration of the breakout is a lot shorter. I am very happy and tell everyone I see suffering from acne because I want them to have this success too!! So glade I found a cure for the painful nightmare called acne!! Thank you Daniel for these products!!!!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
