Pros:

Practically odarless...

Cons:

Not best treatment for the scar-prone people

This product started to make me scarr, so I had no choice but to promptly discontinue usage. Their anti-bacterial soap is a god send, though!

Pros:

Works very well as long as you are very consistent.

Cons:

The price, but I'm willing to pay for it.

ProActive works!! You HAVE to use it EXACTLY as directed! I use it twice a day. I only use my ring and pinky fingers to apply the cleanser..go lightly on the skin and keep it moist!! Do not miss a step. I have found the the key to clear skin with this product is consistency!! I can't emphisize this enough. Don't stop because you don't see results right away..it's different for everyone..give it a chance. Oh, and the blotter sheets work great and so does the mattifying gel.

Acne.org product no longer works
Acne.org has changed the formula. It no longer works. It smells, feels and looks different from their products from years ago. What used to work amazingly well is now nothing more than a white paste.

Suddenly stopped working

I was a very happy user of this product for 3 years. It cleared my skin completely. However, for whatever reason now it causes me to break out. I thought maybe I was using too much and tried using every other day, but it still caused my skin to dry and gave me deep pimples and my skin wouldn't adjust to it. I read some other reviews that this happened to them once they ordered a new product once theirs ran out (ordered in Sept 2020). This is what I did so I am not sure if I got a bad product or it changed. I will be trying a different Benzoyl Peroxide treatment from a different brand.

I've always bought this but not anymore

On August 2020 I bought this as I always have as this is the only 2.5%  benzoyl peroxide that I can find but this year they must have changed their formulation for a cheaper alternative or I must have gotten a defective one because when I used it, it burned my face really bad. I thought I probably just need to put moisturizer first but it didn't help. My face turned red the next day and very itchy. It was like this for two days, it was like a chemical burn. I hope you read this and bring back the previous formulation. Thanks!

BP seems different

I used to love this product for it’s simplicity. The last bottle I purchased had a weird plastic odor and feels much more irritating on my skin. When I reach out about this problem I was sent a replacement bottle but the replacement also had the strange smell and felt slightly irritating on my skin. They said the ingredients haven’t changed. I’m wondering if there was a bad batch or something of the big size? I will purchase the smaller tube once more and see if it still has the weird smell. I’m very sad about this because I genuinely love this product normally.

WROST PRODUCT FOR MY TYPE OF FACE
OMG!! I wish I had never used this product! I followed instructions for over 2 months. I noticed my face started breaking out but I thought it was the way the product works, so I give it time! NEVER GOT BETTER!! I'm still regretting using it. I have a semi-dry skin. My acne is now located all around my Chin.

Saved My Face *I have some tips for irritation below*
I had never had a struggle with acne until I started going to beauty school at the age of 19.   I have no clue as to way in my early twenties WWIII decided to happen on my face but it HURT, a lot.   But I found acne.org a few years later and that totally changed the game. After using "Regimen"   I only seemed to get acne if I wore makeup for too long, didn't clean my brushes very often or from constantly eating junk food.   Then after I started eating a clean vegan diet I noticed even clearer skin.   I am happy to say that I haven't had a bad break out in...2 or 3 years?   It's been a minute.   Now I never skip washing my face when I wake up and once more before bed.   I stay clear as long as I keep that routine up!   Thanks Acne.org :) For anyone experiencing irritation here's a few tips 1. make sure you only have the cleanser on your face for 10 seconds no more than that! 2. BIGGEST HELP wait for each application to dry completely if you noticed even the smallest amount of left over product it can sting! This stuff used to make my eyes red but if you let each application dry all the way it should save you some trouble. 3. Wash twice a day and if you feel too dry drink water and check your diet! 4. Play with the amounts. You don't have to follow the directions 100%. I hardly use any Benzoyl Peroxide any more. Heck I hardly use the full recommended amount of all the products anymore. It does take time but once you are in a good routine with it you can play around with the amounts. For instance if you are too dry go easy on the cleanser and peroxide. Maybe even use a very neutral moisturizer (just be careful around the eyes). I hope this helps :)

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
