Pros:

IT WORKS
Fast
Effective
Cheap
Gel form

Cons:

Can leave skin dry and stings for the first couple of weeks of application until skin adjusts

Fantastic product. I wonder why I have not heard of Panoxyl before, because this is the ONLY thing that has worked for me. I guess they're a pretty silent brand. Take note: you may not have to use as much of this as you would if you were using Dan's BP gel. For me, a stripe the length of my index finger every 12 hours is enough for three weeks of every month. When my period arrives, I require a bit more because that's when I break out most. Like all BP products, it can leave skin a bit dry and flaky, especially at first. It's a good idea to ramp the dosage up slowly and then when you're completely clear, try reducing the dosage until you find the right amount for your skin. Everyone is different. I can't compare Panoxyl to any other BP product, since it's the only BP I've ever used. But I have no reason to switch, since it's working! It's pretty much saved my life. **I have put the price in monthly costs in POUNDS, not dollars. It's £3 a tube, and I need two tubes a month, just about.**

Pros:

Great customer service
Daytime moisturizer is the best
Generous with free samples and natural soap
Mostly natural

Cons:

Process is way too time-consuming and wastes water
Scrubbing everyday is too harsh on sensitive skin
Scrub didn't work

I tried Carley's because there are so many great reviews for it here and I was confident that it may be what I have been looking for. It didn't work for me. I have very sensitive skin and it just made my skin irritated and broke me out in tiny bumps all over the place. I spoke to customer service about every problem I encountered (very nice and helpful) but Steve said my skin was sensitive because of all of the other products I have used on it, so I stuck with the program exactly. I did this for three months and then finally threw in the towel (or washcloth). I also tried extra strength which really did a number on my skin. I will say that they did everything possible to make this work for me and if you are one of those that this product works for, you are fortunate because customer service is top notch. I will however continue to use their daytime moisturizer and possibly the natural soap (sans washcloth, which has been slowly putting my skin back to normal).

Pros:

It does cler up skin effectively after a while, but does take some time. And it was kind of fun to use. [ I loved the refining mask! ]

Cons:

Takes forever to see improvement.
Dries skin out terribly, sometimes to the point where it gets unbearable.
Redness.

I used Proactiv for a year or so. It worked well for the most part, but dried my skin out so much that it became stiff and crusty. It also became very red from the benzoyl peroxide, but overall it's an okay product.

Pros:

-no smell
-fast & easy
-cleared up acne right away

Cons:

-a little pricey for the FULL SIZED SET, but it takes a while to go through the bottles anyway

I LOVE this set! I have tried many other sets and decided to switch to Clinique and I have loved it ever since! I have been using this for seven months and I am still loving it. I use it twice a day and it's just the miracle worker! I would definitely recommend to try it out!

Pros:

Cleared most of pimples, acne

Cons:

May sting
Does not get rid of blackhead
Does not get rid of scars

I must say, this thing really works! During the 1st week, I put too much (too excited I guess) and it made my face really red and raw-ish. But after applying the moisturizer for a few days, it eventually faded away. It cleared most of the acne on my cheeks and forehead, around 75%. But I still have blackheads on my nose and chin, and occasional one or two pimples here and there. Highly recommended :)

Pros:

-helps
- step-one cleared up my chest and bacne

Cons:

-takes a long time to apply.
-is quite annoying.

I think this product only works if you have cystic acne. It didn't do anything for my whiteheads and other bumps, but it took away my cysts. This product ONLY works if you follow the step-by-step perfectly. And step two takes awhile to dry so..thats pretty hard to do. It worked pretty well for two months and then it stopped working. Oh, and step-one cleared up my chest and bacne and kept working! Proactiv does make some great products though! My advice would be not to follow the 3-steps, but to make your own regimen using some of their products because I think they're really high quality. I liked the green-tea moisturizer, the sulfur mask, sunscreen, some of their makeup, and such.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
