Pros:

It works when nothing else does.

Cons:

I haven't found any.

I have used Carley's products for years. I started using them for severe adult acne which, before I found Carley's products, I only able to treat with Acutane. This drug worked but as everyone has probably heard, it had some nasty problems. Thank goodness I found Carley before anything bad happened to me! Over the years, my skin has changed and I have switched to some more moisturizing products and anitaging products. I have tried everything from $375.00 a bottle, gold flaked hollywood rage to drug store specials, and this stuff supercedes anything I have found. I have passed Carleys products down to my acne ridden children and they have had excellent results also. We always keep a little extra in the fridge so we never run out!

Pros:

Fast Acting! Tightens Skin! NO PRE-BREAKOUT B4 RESULTS!

Cons:

None. Because most acne meds are overdrying & we know to use a moisturizer (w/ no perfumes or oil or can slow down results). Duh Right!

I would recommend this to everyone that's still looking for skin regimen with lasting results. *AND ESPECIALLY TEENAGERS* Wish I knew about it my teen years. Anyhow, why pay $20+ on meds for skin when you can pay $8.

Pros:

this is the most effective and most economical acne fighting product I have used. In addition to working, the products are effective for both adult onset acne (me) as well as for teenage acne (my daughter). We both highly recommend these products. And this Company is totally committed to the customer's satisfaction; they send samples of products for you to try in every order, as well as freebies.

Cons:

none

TRY THESE PRODUCTS!!!! YOU WILL BE THOROUGHLY SATISFIED!!!

Pros:

it cleared my skin! i was on bp for 2+ years already and trust me, that was 2 years of heaven for me. i still had one to two pimples every two months or so, but that didn't bother me at all.

Cons:

you had to spend at least 10 minutes for the application of bp. but i was willing to do that given its GOOD results. however, it seems like bp isn't working for me anymore.

i've had mild-moderate acne ever since i was 18. i've tried everything and nothing worked. so i remember one evening in 2007, while i was mindlessly surfing on the net on 'successful cures for acne' when i found this site. i read the reviews, and thought, why dont i give it a try? so i did. i remember i broke up during the first 2-3 weeks of this regime. but it was all worth it. after a month or so, my face was CLEAR! and throughout the past two years, i almost forgot how it's like to have pimples anymore. until recently, around a month or so, i broke up like crazy. at the beginning, i thought it was just a minor break out. but nope, it persisted for around a month already and nothing seems to work anymore. :( bottom line is: it DOES work! and i do recommended it. for those who are desperately in need of a 'miracle', here is your chance. it was difficult at the beginning because my skin was SO red and dry that i didn't even want to see anyone. besides that, and as most of you are concerned with, it WILL cause a break out at the beginning. but it's so worth it. and in terms of its lasting, i guess it depends on the individual. for me, it worked for 2 years. :(

Pros:

IT WORKS! Worth the frustration. Took a month and a half to clear me up.

Cons:

But it takes time, and you dealing with the frustration of it drying your skin out.
Also it gives you a nasty purge break out, but stick with it!!!!

Look, my clean was the clearest when I was in the hospital for a week and a half due to a spinal tap gone wrong. I didn't wash my face or wear any make-up; I laid there like a vegetable. But when I got out and washed my wash with a mild cleanser and wore my make-up again, BOOM acne. So, my Mom got me Proactiv from a friend (whom they send crazy amounts to via the automatic reorder system) and gave it to me. I started off doing it morning and night, it dried the HELL out of my face and brought EVERYTHING to the surface, huge under the skin pimples!!! I was dying, and my make-up was failing at covering it up due to all the flakey, dried out skin. I gave up and went back to a mild cleasner for a few days and dramatically my oily skin came right back with acne. So WTF, I gave it another shot, and perfected my regimen. I addressed the under the skin break outs with a their refining mask as a spot treatment and my dry skin with their Oil-Free moisturizer in the morning and Cetaphil PM moisturizer at night and skipped the toner in the morning. Below is my system. After I endured the hellish ugly breakout, I'm ALMOST all clear except for a spot on my chin and a reddish scar on my jawbone, which I'm going to try Mederma for, I'll let you know how it goes. Today I didn't wear make-up to go to breakfast with my mom, it was amazing :) AM: -ProActiv Renewing Cleanser -(Skip the Proactiv toner - too drying) -Proactiv Repairing Lotion -Proactiv Oil-Free Moisturizer Make-up -Smashbox High Definition Concealer (Fair) -Physican's Formula Organic Wear Powder (Fair Translucent) PM: Make sure you wash off all your make-up right when you get home ladies! -Dove moisturizing bar w/ clean white washcloth (gets make-up off AND dry skin) -Proactiv Renewing Cleanser -Toner (make sure your face is free from impurites) (Wait 5 mins) -Proactiv Repairing Lotion (Wait 10 mins) -CeraVe PM Facial Moisturizing Lotion (Wait

Pros:

Lasts a long time. Skin's PH balance seems to even out over time. Gentle on the skin (not just for face). Real does what it's suppose to do

Cons:

Takes a while to see results so one can discourage due to timing.

You'll love it. It works as is promises. I've been battling moderate/mild ever since my OBGYN switched my pill and didn't tell me about the adverse effects. She put me on pills with high androgen (high testerone level bc). Needless to say I broke out like a freakin 13 yr old boy. I'm in my late 30's and my skin was absolutely clear and beautiful. I tried everything and anything under the sun, OTC products, perscription creams, they always dried out my skin and left my skin itchy and irritated. I tried the BP just for a little from Dan's collection and that seemed to help, but was a bit overdrying for me. With a desperate need to clear up my skin after about a year of just horrid skin, I tried to give this a try. I'm glad I did and was patient enough to see it through. Honestly the first 2-3 weeks, it got worse and I was ready to give up. I was getting new acne like every other day and not just one but in clusters, I'd like to think I was purging. It's now week 6 and no active acne, just a bit of scarring that's been left behind by me picking (shame on me) and just because I'm asian and my skin tends to scar whether I leave it alone or not. I can now actually leave the house without trying to cosmetically cover up anything. I must have been the 1/3 of those people that took the full 6 week to see results, although I probably really started to see a difference after about 4 weeks. I do recommend keeping at it and don't get discourage if it gets worse for the first 2-3 weeks. Your body could be adjusting and pushing all the crap out of your skin before it repairs itself. Good Luck and highly recommended! It's been about 2 weeks and I'm probably 1/3 down on the soap and 1/7 down on the wash..this is going to last you a LONG time.

Pros:

None.

Cons:

Cost, ineffectiveness.

Though the product is designed to work in conjunction with Proactiv's "unique blend" of additives ("enhancements", and I use the term loosely), the active ingredient nonetheless remains Benzoyl Peroxide. These enhancements, the modality of which are not FDA approved (rubbing tea leaves on my face is supposed to help how?), are designed to increase cell turnover and absorption rates, and promote "spalling" and penetration. While effective for some, they are ineffective -- if not counterproductive -- for most. Get yourself a nice soap, a tube of Benzoyl Peroxide, some hydrocortisone; and a light, water-based, non-comedogenic lotion. You'll see better results in better time at half the cost.

Incredibly disappointed
I bought this by accident because my brother needed it and I accidentally got two packages so I figured why not use it, and seriously wish I hadn't. My face has been relatively clear but face wash is alway essential. I now have the most painful zits I've ever had on my face and broken out every where. I'm hoping buy using it more my face will clear up but for now it sucks!!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
