Product used: The Regimen

Pros:

-only thing that has ever worked consistently
-easy to use
-products last a long time
-CLEAR SKIN

Cons:

-dryness at first, like anything you have to stick with it
-can be more expensive then other treatments

I first bought these products at the age of 15 in 2009, I was desperate for something to clear up my acne, I had tried everything short of pills, and nothing worked, I ordered this and am proud to say I'm still using it 3 years later, with constant results! I do get minor breakouts occasionally but its nothing compared to how it used to be, I would recommend this to anyone who is tired of searching for the right combo over products, now I mainly just use the treatment since my acne is under control but I would recommend the whole system!

Pros:

-> Clears acne
-> Boosts confidence
-> Restores skin complexion
-> Not oily residue
-> Not red chappy skin

Cons:

-> Costy, not cheap
-> Takes time to apply. Sucks if you're in a hurry.

Try it. I seriously recommend it. I am a redhead with sensitive skin, I have had skin problems since I hit 12 years of age. I am now 19, and I just tried this out. I love it. I wish I tried it sooner. But I let doubt and fear get in the way. Best decision in my life. My scars are now beginning to fade, and my skin is not in pain.

Pros:

Non.

Cons:

Severly harsh on your skin.
After a couple of weeks of use, my skin was getting more and more cystic pimples.
After I have stopped, my face got plaqued with severe cystic acne all over my skin which I really struggled with. After I stopped using it my acne slowly cleared up.

NEVER USE IT. IT'S SO BAD FOR YOUR SKIN.

NEVER USE IT. THEY MAKE IT SEEM LIKE IT'S THE SAVING GRACE FOR ACNE WITH ALL THOSE CELEBRITIES BUT IT'S ACTUALLY POISON FOR SKIN. I learned this the hard way so please don't go through what I did by purchasing this product.

Cons:

Proactiv is a scam!

Do not order it. They take $30 out of my bank account every month even after I canceled it. I just got off the phone with them again. Ordering Proactive is the biggest mistake I have ever made!

Pros:

Clears pimples overnight FAST

Cons:

None :)

Great for the occasional big red noticeable pimple we all get. Just remember not to put it all over your face or you will flake tremendously. D=

Pros:

-got rid of acne for the most part
-suppresses breakouts
-keeps oil levels low
-nice feeling
-works well to keep mild acne under control

Cons:

-dries out skin (but all acne cleansers do)
-bleaches clothes sometimes

This is my go-to acne product! When my acne got bad, I got prescription cream and and antibiotics, and used this too. There was a period where I stopped using this bc I couldn't find it anywhere and my acne got SO BAD!!! I was so happy when I found it again and I got my face under control. Bottom line: if you have mild/moderate acne like me and are also on antibiotics/prescription cream, this product is great. If you have severe acne, you may want to have prescription cream and antibiotics on top of this cleanser because using it alone is probably not very effective. But as far as an acne cleanser from the drugstore goes, this is great. I'd recommend it to anyone who wants clean skin or has acne problems.

Pros:

After getting it around 2 weeks ago, it seems to be working. I wash and moisturize my face twice a day. And I put a very thin layer of BP on once at bedtime. (I have really sensitive skin). I also mix some of the Jojoba in with the moisturizer at nite too. I haven't tried the aha yet. Currently I don't have any major dryness or pimples. I'm hoping to eventually work up to twice a day and to see if that will help with other things such as the large pores, oilyness, and small bumps.

Cons:

It takes time for the products to absorb. Also I've been kind of used to using a wash cloth. And I couldn't totally do without, so I substituted a softer version.

I guess that everyone's skin's different. This method does take more time. But it's worth it to have better looking skin.

I used this after Neutrogena and Clean and Clear didn't work for me. This wasn't much better. It did seem a little stronger because it made my skin a little redder and dryer but didn't help my acne at all.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
