Pros:

Proactiv can help clear up your skin by getting rid of major acne and oil.

Cons:

Proactiv does NOT get rid of shine (not oily shine, just dry shine), dry skin, or blackheads.

I would rate it with a 5 if it would help with shine and blackheads. It won't get all of the under-the-skin acne. The lotions won't help moisturize your skin, and it won't start to work until it's been about a month or two. If you stop using it, your acne will return worse than ever. I wouldn't recommend it, but while I used it, it was okay.

Pros:

works great, clears my skin like nothing elce could, excellent customer service.

Cons:

none

Acne has 4 levels of severity 1-4, I have cat. 4 and have had incurable acne for over 30 years. I have tried everything dermitologists suggested; pills, facial peels, multiple treatments of accutaine, nothing works very well. This is the only product that has ever worked for me, just wish I had this decades ago, it usually takes a few months to see good results. As anyone can tell you people with severe acne commonly have people staring at them and making fun of then and it has a strong negative effect on your self esteem, often I did not like to go out in public. Now I feel so much better about myself. Thank you clear and smooth.

Pros:

WORKS, completely cleared my skin after nothing else did, cheap, great customer service, natural, non irritating

Cons:

Doesn't work on my body acne, still get a pimple here and there (cleared me up 98%)

The best product I've ever tried, period. And I've tried EVERYTHING, including the regimen and most prescription drugs for acne.

Pros:

The first 2 weeks of the product really worked and felt great

Cons:

After 2 weeks of use, my skin broke out even more and caused more acne on my face and forehead. The skin looks like its burned, my face required more Makeup to cover up the Acne and dry sking.

I had to stop using the product and im going to consult a Dermatologist next week to see why i had this reaction and what I could do to have clear skin again.

Pros:

If your face is red and blotchy due to irritation, the white color when applied immemdiately covers the redness, making it seem like your acne is immediately reduced. It has cleared most of my acne the past few months.

Cons:

If you use too much of it out of impatience, it dries out your skin BADLY. I also have super dry skin and knowingly don't drink enough water, so that could be a reason it had that effect on me. If used with a moisturizer it balances out fine.

This is worth buying.

Pros:

I have had acne on my bottom for years. I was shopping at the chemist one day and saw this product, i was a bit sceptical at first because the packaging was so plain!(iknow) but it is amazing. I use the wash and cream.

Cons:

You have to keep using it everyday, especially where my problem is! Also no problem with dry skin because it doesnt really matter!!!

My pimples to come back but that is if i stop using Benzac ac,so it might have to be an ongoing treatment, but i dont care.

Pros:

I had like 3 bad pimples on my chin, cheek and nose and now they are dried up and bearly noticeable. I thought it would try this product since nothing else has really seemed to work for me

Cons:

It kinda dries your skin out after a while but i apply aloe to my face and it is usually better that morning. DON'T use a lot on one pimple it will make it really dry and red, at least thats what happen to me.

It is a good product and dries up your pimple overnight. I dont think that it really makes a huge difference to my pimples within 4 hours but it is a good product and i would recommend it to all.

Pros:

Clears up skin fast. Makes skin feel smoother almost immediately

Cons:

I would saying how my skin feels dry and will probably end up flakey. But that is expected with any acne face wash.

Overall I love my Clinique products. And i was actually surprised on how fast that this product worked. It is aroma free and light on the skin.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
