Pros:

Cleared my skin up. LOVE IT.

Really good value for money. I got three tubes for about £10 and it lasts for ages.

Cons:

It does dry your skin out a bit and this can someime make it a bit red but this lessens after the first few weeks. Just make sure you moisturize well.

Bleaches fabrics

It does take time but then so does everything when it comes to acne. You just have to stick with it. I've been using it morning and evening for nearly a year now and my skin has improved massively. I would say this time last year I had moderate acne and now I only get the occassional spot now and then. I can't live without it.

Pros:

- Easy to follow steps
- Calms angry spots super quickly
- Continues to improve skin with consistent use
- Doesn't smell revolting

Cons:

- Can be drying - don't use too much!
- Some people mightn't like the scent
- Doesn't stretch far for the price

I'm one of those people who has tried everything and loses heart after weeks of either no results or worsening acne. I will openly admit that after three or four weeks, if I don't see any improvement whatsoever, I struggle to remain consistent when it comes to applying treatments... I have been gutted like a fish plenty of times by products that make promises and use Delta Goodrem's fake fluoride smile to sell them. I was floundering with my regime and I saw this kit at the supermarket, so I figured it couldn't hurt to try it. My face was in a state, and it had been for a few weeks. I'd basically given up on it and I felt disgusting. I started using this system without any high hopes (I just felt like I needed to do SOMETHING). Three weeks later, my skin has cleared up considerably and it has smoothed out like crazy. I still have some atrocious red marks, but I don't care... I can cover flat marks with makeup, whereas trying to cover big, painful red bumps with makeup just makes me want to cry. It can be drying, but I've found my skin has adapted to it. Remember that you need to exfoliate (gently... very, very gently!) to slough off dead skin. I use a baby's hairbrush. This is pretty long-winded, but honestly, if you're looking for something that's easily acquired that gives you decent results, try this. If it doesn't work, at least you can say that you've tried it out. And if you're like me and you suck at keeping up regimes, the step system will pro'lly help you keep up consistent treatment (I can be totally useless with it sometimes).

Pros:

Cleanser feels light on skin, didn't dry my skin out.

Cons:

Broke me out worse.

It worked the first two times I used it. I did the regimen consistently night and day with the instructions they give you. It cleared it up, then it didn't do anything, then I started breaking out with painful pimples all over my face. I immediately stopped using and the acne went away within a matter of days. I made sure not to use too much but that didn't make a difference. I was really hoping this would work, it was a big let down. Since you can get your money back, might as well try it because it doesn't work the same for everyone.

Pros:

Gets rid of pimples
Makes skin look better just by putting it on
Worked for me for 2 years
Does cause skin to flake like maxclarity

Cons:

First use, it irritates skin
Stopped working for me after I hit 18
Toner runs out before others
Wish there was more of the Repairing lotion

I first started using it at 16 and it cleared out all my white-heads and pimples. I saw results in a few weeks and I never stopped using it night and day for 2 years. But after I hit 18, for some reason, my Proactive just stopped working. I don't know if it's because of stress, or my skin had gotten used to it, or if there was a formula change. I quit, but since this product had served me so well over the past years, I might try it again in the future after trying out other products. I think maybe I needed to use more of the product since I consistently used the same amount as I did when I first started using it.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
