Pros:

It leaves my skin VERY smooth and soft.
The refining mask seems to work.

Cons:

Didnt clear up my skin as expected.

For this product you have to manage your expectation. I was expecting to get absolutely clear skin perhaps like Katy Perry, no? I tried really hard to like Proavtic. I have been using it since February but have stopped now as it has been dries out my oily skin so badly even though I only use it at nights. Truth be told I dont have a severe acne problem but a FEW whiteheads I have had on my cheekbones since I was 14 or so. I should have been slapped for spending so much money on Proactiv. Proactiv brought out some terrible embarassing zits on my chin that have left a few black marks which are fading quite nicely, as my skins doesnt really keeps spot, I am just lucky that way. But perhaps it was just clearing out my skin as they have not been back since late March. I wont deny my skin feel so much softer and smoother and sleeping with Refining Mask on some nights seem to be doing a lot for my skin so I might buy the refining mask again would I buy the three-step regiment again? Well lets see if I can finish the one I have now and after that I am sure the answer would be a resounding, HELL NO. I am sure it works for some people, they wouldnt make that up. I am just not one of them and why the heck was I buying this product anyway is not like I have ance, so my quest for 100% flawless skin still continues at 31.

Pros:

gentle, amazing smell that is addicting, effective

Cons:

must be shaken well before using, not a quick fix for acne so be PATIENT!!!
SEE BELOW..

I finally saw the results after using the soap & the exfoliator for 4 months or there abouts. I have also stopped doing the part where I have to use a facial towel because I don't have to anymore. I guess I have to experience the worse before I see real results. Over all my skin seems to have balanced out. My t-zone is less oily than ever before. The occasional breakouts I have to deal with is mostly hormonal changes & they resolve on their own. The only problem area on my face is around the chin. Some dark spots remain after my acne all disappeared since I started using your products & it's usually where I get the occasional breakouts before & after I have my period. That's the only thing I have to deal with; being on the look out for a product that will clear my dark spots. I have stopped using liquid foundations & have updated my make up routine to include only a mineral based beauty powder. I have been mindful of the products that I use daily especially the ingredients they contain. I LOVE my skin now, thanks to the amazing soap & exfoliator. I will always be your happy consumer! Thank you so much!!! Anne

Pros:

None

Cons:

Didnt see any improvement after 5 months
ACNE and scarring continued their regular routine without faultering in the face of this product

I had tried dozens of facewashes (all at least 2 months), used spot treatment, prescription pills and creams from the doctor so I figured I would give ProActive a try since people talk so high of it. And it didnt change the state my skin was in at all unfortunately... Might work for some people, but it didnt work for me.

Pros:

Very gentle. The soap leaves your skin very soft. The scrub seems to clear up any break outs within a day or two.

Cons:

Only found online instead of stores(so you have to pay shipping costs), but worth it to me!

I'm 23 and still have acne, this is the product that has worked the best out of all the other products I've tried.

Pros:

Not greasy
Effective
Reduces redness

I am a 29 year old female and have struggled with acne since high school. I have had 1 course of Accutane and used a variety of prescription meds in the past from dermatologist. Acne flares up now/then and when it gets bad it becomes mod severe. After experimenting with many products, I find tihs 5% BP with the tea tree oil to work very well on my skin. In the past week its cleared several pimples up on my forehead and temples. I use an oil-free moisturizer after I have applied it and that helps to prevent drying/flaking. Moisturizer is important, try an oil-free one after the DDF and let DDF dry for 5 min before applying moisturizer. It works- give this product a week and I hope you see results like I have. Good luck!

Pros:

left skin feeling clean and got rid of half of acne.

Cons:

left uglly scars and didn't clear up acne.
i also had to use it 2-3 times a day and the whole 3 step system took me about 7 minutes and i think that is took much time and effort for this little results.

proactive is like a half-ass job for clearing acne. i recoment it to people who don't REALLY care about their skin and are willing to do alot of work for it.

Cons:

-Made my face took TERRIBLE!

I soooo wanted this to work for me. Now looking back, I wonder, "What was I thinking?!?" I had been using Dan's regimen for about a year, and my face was pretty much free of breakouts. But, I'm kind of lazy at night, and I wanted to get Carly's so I could do all of the "work" in the shower in the morning, and then just wash and moisturize at night. So I ordered about six weeks ago. It had so many great reviews, I had to try! Every single day I used it (for over a month) I followed the instructions to a tee. It was just "okay" in the beginning, but then after about a week I started to notice that I had little red bumps all over my face. So I thought maybe the lotion I had ordered from Carley's was too much with the treatment. So, I stopped using it and went back to my regular moisturizer. It didn't get any better. Then I starting getting cystic acne on my chin, and that feeling of clogged pores on my chin and nose. I also had cystic acne right by my ears...It was so weird! The last straw was when my forehead started breaking out. That NEVER happens to me, in the 15+ years of my skin struggles. So that's when I threw in the towel on Carley's. I'm glad it works for some people, but for me...NO! So I'm back on Dan's regimen as of three days ago, and my skin has already started to clear up again. I'm going to give the rest of my bottle of Carley's to a friend and see if it works for her.

Pros:

It works for me (that is the biggest pro). I only need small amounts of solution each wash. The mask is great on whiteheads over night. It helped reduce the size and time it took for them to clear away.
I purchased the 3 step system for 110 AUD and recieved 2 bottles of facial mask, moisturising sun cream (which doesn't make my skin oily), a pair of sun glasses and a funky towel for free.
I dont get white heads anymore and I rarely get acne these days.

Cons:

It did take a few more weeks than I'd wanted. But I guess I was being impatient.
110 Australian dollars is a little expencive for me, but in the end I really want to get rid of my acne so I am prepared to pay a little extra for something I know works for me.
I cant use it on my neck or else i develope eczema
I get 1 pimple every now and again, but thats self inflicted because I dont stick to the routine as religiously as i should and i know i dont have a perfect diet.

The bottom line is that everyone has different skin. I say give it a go. I've been looking for a good routine for a long time now and am lucky to have finally settled for one. If it doesn't work or your finding its way too irritating for your skin, then it just isn't compatable with the product. And if your not willing to pay a little extra for the product then keep searching for one that is more affordable and works for you.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
