Pros:

It reduced the look of my acne, kind of. my pimples were smaller after a couple of days

Cons:

At first it made my skin dry and flaky. The rapairing lotion made my skin look shiny and oily

It works relatively good for the first couple days, though it burns a little and made my skin flaky. My acne didn't go away completely at any point on the product.

Pros:

-makes your skin glow!
-Worked after 3 to 1 week, but that's it
- not expensive.

Cons:

-Dries out very very bad.
-You realllly need a moisturizer or else it cracks the skin.
- After a while, it 4 weeks it didn't work anymore. It only made my face very red, and it burned.
- Made some of my scars less noticible.
- Didn't get rid of all my scars and acne

I am very dissapointed in this product, as it didn't work for my type of skin. I've put so much money into acne products and medications from my doctors and dermatologist. I've but this product, because I've heard very good comments on the review. But I really regret it now. I will stop using toxic products on my face, as it only burns it.

Pros:

-Powerful, works fast!
-No scent
-Decreases redness and size of pimple overnight
-Doesn't sting

Cons:

-Not clear, can leave white residue
-Not very cheap for a spot treatment

This product is amazing! I've been breaking out with really bad acne ALL summer long. I haven't have a single break, a single day with a clear complexion in MONTHS. It really isn't something I'm used to. So when I bought this item, and woke up the next morning after using it I realized how much this is helping my acne. The blemishs on my forehead are no longer red and inflamed. They've calmed very much in 24 hrs. -It may be a bit drying, but I use a good moisturizer and I've had no flakiness!

Pros:

Like Proactiv, but cheap.

Cons:

Irritates the skin and simply doesn't work.

It is AWFUL. I used the stuff ONE time and it turned my skin red. I looked like a had a sunburn. Then I used the toner, thinking it might cool my skin down some, and it burned. I came back to look in the mirror five minutes later and my skin was peeling. I don't even have sensitive skin. I usually use a Clean & Clear face wash, Stridex pads, and an Olay face lotion. If my face can handle mixing products, it should be able to handle this one product. DO NOT BUY THIS. It does not work and it with make your face worse off.

Pros:

Everything Positive

Cons:

Nothing Negative

It's official, Daniel Kern was sent from Heaven to stop acne once and for all. He did just that. This product, this regimen WORKS! I used it for 1 year and then it stopped working but I believe it must have been because I was getting sloppy with the applications and such (also I was stressed over many things which could have contributed to the acne a little). So I went to a dermatologist for almost a whole year getting prescribed the most expensive garbage ever basically wasting my time. I decided to give the regimen one last try to relive my great acne free year and now it's been 4 days....my face went from 9 pimples to 2. It's working again because my face has not been this clear since the last time I was on the regimen. You wanna try this? DO IT. Do NOT hesitate, this will be the best decision you have made. If it stops working then you may wanna see if you're doing something wrong or what is going on in your life and hold it out, it could work again as it has for me.

Pros:

dried skin out

Cons:

did not improve my skin

I have a mild oily t-zone and that is where I was breaking out. ProActive did not help my skin if anything it made it break out worse. I tried the product for about 50 days and then I took it back. The customer service was actually helpful and I should be receiving my check back in the mail soon.

Pros:

Cleared up SOME acne

Cons:

Dried out skin
Made skin peel
Burned
Still have acne!

When I bought proactive I heard so much about it that i was sure it was going to work. When I got it in the mail I was so excited to start using it. In the first few days i noticed that some of my acne was starting to disapper. Within about a week my skin started burning and peeling and my acne was starting to come back. After about two or three months I stopped using it and now i'm using epiduo gel which I LOVE! I would reccommend this to other people only because I have heard about so many people using it with wonderful results and maybe it was just my skin type that it didn't work for.

Pros:

Clean feeling afterwards.. besides that, nothing.

Cons:

Everything... dry, burning skin, swollen-ness, chapped my lips.

I have moderate acne breakouts every now and then so I switch back and forth between different brands (Clean & Clear, Neutrogena, Clearasil, Proactiv, etc). I ran out of one cleanser, so I decided to try this one. I don't consider my skin to be sensitive at all and I can usually use anything on my face without any problems. This product, however, was different. Right after I used it for the first time (which was at night), there was an immediate burning sensation all over my face. Not the usual tingling, but absolute burning. When I woke up in the morning, my skin was bright red, flaking, and my eyes were swollen (and I didn't use the product on my eyes, just near them). That night, for some reason, I used the product again. The next morning there was even more redness, my eyes were nearly swollen shut, my skin was even more flaky, my lips had become chapped and were starting to split open, and the burning sensation lasted all day. I immediately threw the product away when I got home and would never recommend this product to anyone. I usually love Clean & Clear, but I have no idea what happened. :(

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
