Pros:

This is the most gentle on my skin of any BP treatment I've used, yet it has eliminated all but the worst (hormonally-driven, I think) pimples. Head and shoulders above any BP product I've tried, and I've tried so many!

Cons:

None--though the large and painful zits do still appear--however I like that this was not touted as a "miracle product" that would solve all of my problems overnight. And my acne is most definitely under control and much less noticeable.

I am very happy with this product as part of the acne.org regimen. I have had the best results of my life with these products. (Have had adult acne for 13 years approx.)

Pros:

clears up redness, reduces amount of pimples, stops them coming back and.. kinda tighens the skin so its probably good if your'e face is all saggy aha

Cons:

dries out your skin hell bad and burns like a B*TCH but it's worth it

makes your face feel uncomfortable for about an hour after application but my acne was all over my face and horrible and now its getting sooo much better though im unsure how long it will last

Pros:

- Clears up if you put a thin layer on twice a day
- Dries clear and non-flaky unlike cream BP
- Doesnt sting and doesnt give you red irritated skin like sal. acid :)

Cons:

- AUD $15 bucks a tube, can be expensive if you use it on your back and chest
- Doesnt help with really, really, deep bumps

It's the best thing I ever bought for my skin, and I've used every single supermarket brand. Use the 2.5% if you dont have pus-filled spots (or if you are starting Benzac), use 5% if you have redness and pus and blockage, use 10% if you have deep under skin cysts. Give it at least 3-4 weeks. :)

Pros:

This product works great! I have always had a problem with acne and finding something affordable that works is nearly impossible. Until I found this product.

Cons:

None. My skin has been acne free since I started using it.

This is the best affordable acne product on the market today!! I will continue to use it faithfully.

Pros:

It made my pores smaller and softened skin. They have good advertising because it's the only thing off the TV I have ever been sucker enough to buy!

Cons:

Still had the same amount of breakouts. Time consuming. Expensive (small bottles).

I've been using the stuff for about 3.5 weeks and I haven't really noticed a difference. It seems that the breakouts moved from my jawline to my cheeks and they seem to be redder and more obvious. I don't want to say this product doesn't work, but it hasn't worked for ME. I haven't used it long, but I don't know that I want to risk being able to return it. It's very time consuming and pretty expensive considering it hasn't shown me much of a difference from Clean 'N Clear...lol! Good Luck!!!

Pros:

Love this; goes on clear, no more white streaks or gross white flakes. Seemed to work as well at the Neutrogena stuff, and cleared up several chronic spots in about a day and a half.

Cons:

It will leave your skin a little dry if you don't use moisturizer, but so will all the other BP products.

I really like this. If you want to use a BP product, this is probably the best stuff around.

Try taking a handful of pantothenic acid every day before you do anything else. A researcher discovered that megadoses of this B vitamin can cure acne. It's cheap and readily available without prescription. You have little to lose but your acne.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
