Cons:

They'll rip you off
Doesn't really work
They'll rip you off some more

Do NOT buy from them. I paid for my original package, then when they sent me another one, I immediately sent it back to avoid charges. I had a tracking number, so when I saw that it had arrived, i simply threw it away. BAD IDEA. They continued to charge me $70 for the package I sent back, but they "never received," and of course without that tracking number, I couldn't get a refund. Then, I later get another bill from some agency saying I still owed them money. Regret! Such a rip off!

Pros:

None. It didn't help, it only made the condition worse

Cons:

The company is difficult to deal with and continues to charge you after you've cancelled.

You will sign up for a promotional offer for $30. Then they'll start sending you more than you can use, and charging you for it. I cancelled but still received shipments and bills on my credit card. Even after 3 or 4 phone calls and getting the run around. These people are difficult to deal with, use underhanded and confusing business practices to move a product that simply doesn't work. Do not buy this product.

Breakouts

This skin care line is a scam! The reviews are fake! I tried this line for two weeks and caused major breakouts. This is what brought me to try acne.org regimen!

Pros:

Very Effective
Natural
No side effects
Doesn't need any other treatment

Cons:

None

I and my brother both had severe acne and got rid of them using this product. You just have to use the soap and the scrub on a daily basis , and no other products. It may take a couple of weeks to work, but just be patient and I guarantee you that you will get clear skin!

Pros:

Works immediately, not at all greasy, mild peeling reveals smoother, lighter skin. Dissolves horrible acne cysts overnight. $1.50 at Dollar General.

Cons:

Mild stinging, went away in 10-15 mins. Could cause redness & dryness if overused- increase use gradually. Be careful not to get it too close to eyelids or eyebrows. Definitely need to use sunscreen if outside- skin revealed by peeling is fresh & sensitive to sun.

I've had cystic acne for 25 yrs, since I was 13. Started out then with Rx retin-A liquid that caused severe chemical burns. Over the yrs I've used Rx differin, retinol, benzamycin, oral antibiotics, 3 rounds of Accutane (great while using, caused long-term issues), OTC topicals & kits, ProActiv (horrible redness & scaling), microdermabrasion & eventually a chemical peel that caused severe scarring around my mouth & temples. The acne always came back, usually worse than before. In my late 30s, it's appeared on my face as mostly blackheads, small bumps & 4-6 extremely painful cysts at all times. The cysts also started to appear on my neck & take a month or more to go away. Recent finances have made me just live with it, using generic Blackhead Clearing Scrub w/salicylic acid 2% & clearance Avon mineral makeup. But within 2 hrs of washing my face, I'd feel & look oily. Several wks ago my local Dollar General had closeout Ambi Even & Clear Exfoliating Wash 0.5% salicylic acid on a BOGO sale, so I stocked up at $1.07 each. I saw the ClearZit on the shelf for $1.50, so grabbed a tube to try. I guess it's finally the right combo of salicylic acid & benzoyl peroxide for me. I had a cluster of cysts on my temple in the old scar tissue for several wks- very big, burning, very painful. Within hrs of first applying ClearZit, the cysts came to a head, released pressure & began to peel. Within 2 days, a small pink area remained. The peeling effect for me is very similar to with Accutane- mild, not painful at all, & revealing pinker, healthier skin underneath. The old scarring from the chemical burns & previous cysts is also smoother; my skin overall is smoother, pinker & healthier-looking & my pores are smaller & clearer. And no new cysts for more than a week! 2x daily, I wash with Ambi, follow with a light smear of ClearZit, then Avon mineral makeup. I've noticed even better results now that I've cut refined sugars

Pros:

My acne did go away...

Cons:

Just read below

Proactiv is crap. Just crap. I'm 17 now, and started to suffer from severe acne around 14. I tried many products, but nothing worked, so finally my mom got me proactiv. The first 5 days it worked well, except I hated the smell and it was very time consuming. Well, as I continued to use it my acne cleared, but in its place I had the most dreadful flaky skin. After about a week and a half it got so bad that i stayed home from school from sheer embarrassment, and I didn't use it before bed that night. When I woke up in the morning I was horrified. My face exploded in acne like I had never seen. That was because I didn't use it for one night! The thing is, despite what proactive says, it doesn't deep clean. Instead it creates a barrier on the surface of your skin so that the doesn't show itself, and If you don't use it every 12 hours, the wall isn't strong enough to barricade the acne. I stopped using it and canceled my account. Or at least I thought I did. They charged and sent me another order 3 months afterward. I sent it back and got my money back, but i did have to pay for shipping. :P All in all, this product is awful dont waste your time or money on it. I now used Herbaria natural soap. A bar is $6 and goes a long way (And smells AMAZING) followed by a dilute of Apple Cider Vinegar as a toner (about $5 per bottle). This works wonderfully for my terrible acne, and I recommend it to EVERYONE!

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
