DO NOT BUY
I have only been a customer of proactive for a short period of time (a few months) and would like to say that the customer service and the product are horrific. Firstly the product made no change to my skin except left it dry, therefore in my experience the product does not work. However the main fault in this company is the terrible customer service. They sent me extra items that I didn't ask for costing £90!! I then got a very rude lady at the end of the telephone telling me to listen to what she had to say. I then had to pay postage to send the items back and they charge you postage for an item you don't want and don't give you that back either! Everything takes an incredible amount of time for them to process, this issue happened in March and only now in May am I getting my money back that they took without me knowing, no email, no call - nothing. Don't give them your credit card they will just take take take until you realize. Worst company I have ever dealt with

Terrible customer service
I was first a proactiv customer 6 yrs ago. Customer service was impeccable then. I cancelled/deactivated my subscription in January to try a different charcoal product. I asked at that time to pay what I owed in full and I was told I did. I got a bill 3 months later. I called and the representative told me that I still owed an installment that they shipped late last year. I told her that I was told my bill was paid in full in January. The woman just kept repeating my balance owed and did not address my complaint. I finally gave up and decided to pay. I gave her my card number and she told me that was not a working card number and wanted a different card. I told her that was very much a working card number and she replied 'do you have a different card or....'. I just hung up. I emailed proactiv with the above complaint and they replied 'your account has been deactivated. This is your current balance. Please pay it when it's due.' SERIOUSLY. My account had been deactivated since January at which time I was told I'd paidy balance. TERRIBLE customer service

excellent
I'm almost 24 y o male and I've tried almost anything for my back and face acne till I came to acnecide.yes,it's a bit expensive (10 £ for a tube) but u get what u pay for. in less than a month I completely got rid of my face acne but I still have some bacne, mostly because I wasn't using as regularly as I was using it on my face .Indeed I've experienced some litle disadvantages like redness, dryness ,I even burned my skin a couple of times. but nothing really beats that feeling when u look in the mirror and see a clean face

Pros:

-nice exfoliator
-not too harsh
-cleared up some acne
-easy to use

Cons:

-drying without moisturizer
-not a miracle worker, only cleared up 50%

This product I really wanted to love but just couldnt. it has a nice consistency and when I wash my face it feels very cool and clean, but it just didn't completely do the job. I still have a fair number of stubborn zits, and this as a spot treatment wasnt so great either.

Pros:

- You can return the product if it doesn't work.

- To make it even more efficient, you can purchase a 120 day supply at Costco for $65. If it doesn't work, you can return it straight to Costco and not have to worry about return shipping.

- Customer service is A+. Any questions were patiently answered and cancelling the membership is super easy.

Cons:

- dried my skin out until it was flaky
- skin looked like it was burnt
- acne did not go away

I was finally convinced by all the commercials that I had to try Proactiv. I had high hopes but my skin just looked worse and worse. With Proactiv After using it I still had acne but my skin was now peeling. My husband at one point said it looked like my face had been burnt. That is never good. I called Proactiv and talked to a representative and was told that this was normal and to cut back on using it. I was also told to give it 6 - 8 weeks to see results. I followed the directions yet my skin still looked horrible. Thankfully, I was able to return it. Proactiv does work on some. My sister and a dear friend swear by it but it is not for everyone and obviously not for me!

Pros:

I love Carley's products! I use the soap, clear and smooth, anti-aging/acne elder flower mask. This product is quite gentle and natural. I order once a year which costs me $100.00. Which is a great deal because you get the forth product free. You can store the product in the fridge so it stays fresh!

Cons:

Shipping is $23 to Canada:(

It's worth it! Best skin product I've ever used!

Pros:

Great product. I've been using this for at least 4 years now. Works better than any other product I've tried. It took a couple weeks at least to see a difference when I first started it. And every time I've strayed from the product (tried other products), my skin would flare up again. It would take another couple weeks for me to see results once starting Carley's again. It definitely works.

Cons:

Can be drying-- I use their day time moisturizer for acne prone skin and it takes care of that problem! It's a great moisturizer.

Give it shot. Try it for at least 2-3 weeks. Use it AS INSTRUCTED. The soap, the scrub, and I would definitely recommend the moisturizer too for best results (even if you have oily skin normally).

Pros:

If you use this product as directed it will work. I have been ordering for over 8 years and now order for my 4 kids. It is the best! You must order the scrub and soap, they work together.

Cons:

I wish it was in my local store, but it is shipped very quick!

I love this product along with my 4 kids, I don't understand the bad reviews, unless they are created by trouble makers or someone who can't read the directions and don't use the soap along with the scrub. I have handed out the sample scrub that comes with all of my order's. Over the years and everyone love's how it works on acne and to keep you skin looking young I am now 49 and do not have wrinkles, everyone asks if I am my 27 year old son's sister. It works on wrinkles and acne! Give it a try! My kids did not want to use mom's products, so off to the dermatologist we went. They tried all of the prescriptions and went back to Carley's products. It is a great product for acne and to keep wrinkles away! I am a long time user, you must give it a try, but, you must use it, and use it properly. I am real, and welcome any emails for information on my personal use. I do not believe anyone had bad results if they used it properly. Price is for scrub and extra soap. LOVE THE SOAP ORDER EXTRA FOR YOUR WHOLE BODY!

Still using the product and encourage everyone to give it a try.
March 18, 2011

Pros:

helps a little bit

Cons:

they just keep sending it and changing the price!
It doesn't work that well
It's pretty drying

I did notice a slight difference when I used this a while back but not any more than from a lot of stuff I've bought at the drugstore... It works to a point. I decided that since it didn't work well I would cancel and go back to using something cheaper and easier from the drugstore. They sent me out a few more packages and billed my credit card for even more than the original amount was! I tried to argue with them but just gave up so I used it but like I said, it wasn't great.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
