Pros:

This product balances my skin - never too oily or too dry. My skin feels and looks healthy. It lasts a long time, is not expensive, and is easy to use.

Cons:

I can't think of any.

I have had some form of acne for my entire life from 13 years old through my 40's. I've been using Clear & Smooth products for years, and this is the first time in my life I have not had skin problems. The bonus is - for my age, I'm not getting a lot of wrinkles. I wish all teens could find out about this product and not have to worry about their skin. I do have one warning, however. At first, I almost gave up because it took about 2 months for my skin to clear. I would recommend being patient and using the products faithfully in the beginning. Then the results will happen.

It cleared my skin uncomfortably. but it did work better than every other over the counter product i have tried.

DIME SIZE PEOPLE DIME SIZE!!! you break out when you first start because its pushing all that crap out of your skin and then it gets better. oh yeah btw dont order online they auto ship and it's really annoying.

Pros:

Got rid of my spots and pimples very fast.

Cons:

Dried sin out made it feel sore.

This cream wored very well for me, i had quite bad acne on my chest and after only 3days its cleared 95% of it up. I also had minor acne on my face, and its cleared all of it up minus one spot.... but.... My face now feels very sore and tight, it now has a bumpy dry feeling to it, and when applying makeup it creates dry patches because of the condition of my skin. I have been using aqueous cream (moistouriser for burns) and even this only makes my skin feel good for a few seconds before feeling lie sandpaper. Only use this product if your willing to make the sacrifice: Iv exchanged spotty skin for dry skin... and for me thats better. But soon i might change my mind .

Pros:

It worked great for about 2 years for me. Quit for about 6 months and am now using it again to clear a bad breakout. My face already has that smooth feeling that I missed when not using it.

Cons:

My face got very dry and irritated when I used it twice a day. Changing my routine to once a day worked much better but unfortunately it didn't last. My face became more sensitive and my breakouts took longer to heal so I stopped using it.

It does work if used routinely. In fact, I'm back using it right now after a terrible breakout from using an oral medication called Minocycline (which really didn't work for me). Now after not using Proactiv for 6 months I'm going to try it again to clear things back up. Hope it works... again!

Pros:

Used following Dan's Regimen, it works wonderfully!

Cons:

Fairly small bottle of 50g, if you start off with too much to begin with you will dry out or even worse, chemically burn your skin, so start slow as the regimen suggests and build up gradually.

I have had moderate to severe acne for years, but this product and the regimen have pretty much cured my acne that has plagued my skin. I VERY rarely get cystic acne anymore and it has cleared up all my problem areas. I have never before been able to properly use scar reducing treatments without the risk of irritating any acne, but now I can, because there is none =].

Pros:

The aloe vera helps with the dryness that can occur from using benzoyl peroxide.
Pills gradually cleared up my acne for good!

Cons:

The pills taste like spoiled milk.

I've always had trouble with my acne even when going to a dermatologist. They'd prescribe me so many creams that just overdryed my skin and left it rough. And i don't have dry skin! So I gave this a shot and it really works! it will not work overnight. initially you will break out just a little. but hey you would have broke out anyway without it so i think it's worth it to see the end result. Anyway, it gradually started leaving my skin smoother and pimple free! And when i do get the occasional pimple they are very small and usually go away in about 3-4 days. I'm telling you this cream in the morning and pills (am/pm) along side with my handy dandy differin at night, has changed my life. I no longer have to worry about bad skin. I cannot tell you how good it feels to be worry free! Try this you won't regret it!

Pros:

Nothing.

Cons:

Dried out skin. Worsened acne. Wasted money and time. My brother used this too, and he had the same results as me. I wasn't very fond of the smell.

Extremely dry skin even after I reduced the number of uses. I waited about 6 or 7 months to see any results, and I was disappointed with more acne on my face.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
