Pros:

First acne treatment that has actually worked for me.

Cons:

Dries a bit at first, takes a bit of time to soak into skin, but not too bad.

I adore this product as I have tried everything including what the dermatologist prescribed. This is the only thing that has improved my acne. I will be sticking with this product for quite some time.

Pros:

smooths skin
pores look smaller
prevents and gets rid of pimples

Cons:

can be slightly irritating at times
dries out skin a little at first
but those things go away
expensive
doesnt clear up acne 100%

Im a girl and im 16 years old (if that makes a difference) and ive had moderate acne since the 8th grade meaning i wake up with about 3-5 new zits every morning. not the little clogged pore kind but the bigger redder white head kind. yuck. that and i have quite a few (but not too bad) acne scars. Before i started using this stuff i had gone to the derm multiple times and theyve given me different types of antibiotics (which didnt help) and retin-A (which only dried out the acne and my skin along with it). finally i got fed up and ordered Proactiv. Proactiv was expensive and it only helped me a little bit but it wasnt strong enough and none of my close friends or family could notice any positive changes in my skins appearance. One day i noticed my older brother (19 years old with really bad acne on his cheeks whod also gone to the same derm as me which did nothing for him) had much much clearer skin than usual and i asked him what he was using and it was Effaclar Duo. Hes been using it for about 6 weeks now and his skin still has some pretty bad scars but most of his white heads are gone and some of his scars have faded. Ive used this stuff for about 3 weeks now and the first week i used it about once every other day because it made my skin dry and flaky at first but i gradually upped the applications to twice a day and my skin isnt dry anymore. from the first couple of days i noticed that instead of the regular size and amount of zits popping up on my face i was getting less and smaller pimples and as the weeks go by im getting less and less pimples coming up. I love this stuff! it really works! most products dont do what they say but Effaclar does exactly what it says and now i have hope that my skinll get better finally! I recommend!!!!

Pros:

-Great Value
-Gel based
-Feels great going on
-Easy to spread around
-Most importantly, it WORKS

Cons:

-Maybe the smell
-Shipping cost?

So like many past reviewers, I've tried most everything in the store shelves from acne washes to other BP treatments to sulfur to salicylic acid. None of them truly worked, at most they suppressed the pimples for 1 or 2 days, at worst they made the condition worse and made my skin really dry. I came across Daniel's products before but hesitated to order it. Now I am glad I did. I followed the regimen pretty precisely (of course not all of us can wait around for 20 minutes every morning as the regimen suggests) and now I am almost free of pimples. It's been little more than a month since I started on the regimen and there is a major difference in the amount of pimples I'm getting. My only problem now is getting rid of the red post acne marks thats been haunting my face for many years now. I'm using jojoba oil everyday as a moisturizer and I hope that it will help alleviate the red marks. If jojoba oil doesn't work out then maybe I'll give the AHA+ a try. I totally recommend this product to everyone, the amount that you get for the money is great. If you do the calculations, $16.00 for 8 ounces of BP is a much better value than $7.00 for 1.5 ounces of BP in most drug stores. Dan's BP has a scent that really takes some getting used to and the shipping cost is a little on the expensive side. But this product is still totally worth buying. If any one out there is still hesitant to buy this product, I would like to tell you that if you buy this product and follow the regimen precisely, you will never look back. One day when you are cleared up, maybe it will be you who'll be writing reviews about this product and recommend it to others. Good Luck!

Pros:

rs up your face, doesn't have harsh smell, decently priced

Cons:

Dries up your face at first

I started breaking out after getting a Depo-Provera shot. I tried Proactive first and that didn't do the least bit of good. Then I read some reviews on Neutrogena Complete Acne System and decided to give it a try. I've been using it for a little less than a week and so far it is helping. It started clearing up what blemishes I had basically over night. All that's left of them are small red spots that I can cover with make-up. I have one little pimple left on my chin, but I can deal with that after all I've been through with Proactive. I also like that a coupon came in the box for $4 off my next purchase of the system and $2 off my next purchase of any Neutrogena make-up. Side note, I also bought Neutrogena Skin Clearing Blemish Concealer and Neutrogena Mineral Sheers Powder Foundation and they are both really good too. They really cover up blemishes and they feel light on my skin.

Pros:

Works FAST
Gets rid of all types of pimples
Extremely cheap
Easy to use
Disappears into skin
Smaller pores

Cons:

Slight itchy or burning feeling on the first application

The first time I bought this,I was a little hesitant because of the claims of how powerful and great it is on the box. I was on a prescription, but it honestly wasn't working and it ran out...so I bought this a few months ago.THIS STUFF WORKS :D The first time I bought it,I honestly saw results in four hours. It might not sound like much, but it did wonders on my skin. A few months later I still but this at Dollar General. I'm so pleased with this product and people tell me that my skin looks great. There a little bit of irritation/itching the first times that you use this, but it means that it's working! If you want something to actually work for you, then I strongly suggest that you buy this. It's totally worth it!

Pros:

it worked for 3 years my skin was pretty great

Cons:

it stopped working after about three years and my skin was worse than before
and dryness

I wish I could say for sure why it stopped working. It worked really pretty well the first couple of years. But I wonder if it didn't play a part in making things worse. My story is: I used it pretty religiously and after a month or two my skin was much better. It grew accustomed to the harshness of it. But after three years of using it, I began developing the deeper more cystic type of acne and the system didn't seem to touch it. I had to go on antibiotics because my skin was infected and painful all along my chin area. It was awful. It made me so depressed. My skin was also red, dry and peeling while I used it. That was in 2001 to 2005. I was 17 to 21. I have used various things since and my skin has ranged from pretty good to not so good, BUT never as bad as when I was using proactive (but never as good either hmm)

Pros:

- reduces the size of my acne
- actually works

Cons:

- dries my skin(usually occurs cause bp is at 10%) always moisturize[:
- does leave white residue behind
- pricey/: but it last at least a month and a half

I've tried MANY spot treatments and products probably more than $200 worth to the point I went crazy to find at least help to my annoying acne when I finally saw this in my older sisters bathroom. she BARELY have any acne or pimples what-so-ever but when it does come up she uses this, so I stole this from her(: like any other products I thought this wouldn't work BUT I was wrong! I love how this can minimize the size of my annoying bump overnight(recommended) I still do get new ones here and there but that's because of the countless numbers of cleansers I'm trying out right now. when I do get those bumps, I use this and BAM! less than 3 days it's gone. idk if it bleaches my pillows but I love this product(: give it a try, you'll be amazed

Pros:

It somewhat works.

Cons:

Its expensive
It will irritate you
It doesnt come with a moisturizer-- which is the one thing you will need when using proactive.
There are no guarantees that it will completely clear your face, but it will definitely irritate your face.

I would not recommend this product unless you like paying top dollar for very irritated looking red skin. The celebrity ads also tend to piss me off because most of those people started off with one or two zits to begin with, so no wonder blasting it with BP worked. I have used both and I like Dan's products better. They are more generously portioned and fairly priced ( you get way more for your money ) and they also work better. I saw results as soon as I switched over. I'm not guaranteeing that this will happen to others but there was a noticeably reduced irritation on my face. Also!! DO NOT USE THEIR SULPHUR MASK! It will irritate and dry your face, it is a horrible way to kick you when you're down. Bottom line, Proactive is way too harsh. Skip the irritation and go for Dan's products and get the same results if not better.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
