don't waste your money
I bought proactiv, it didn't work at all, I end up with darker dry skin so I had to stop using it, they also tried to scam me by sending me other products that I didn't order, they sent me a bill of $60 for stuff I didn't buy!!

No Difference
Ordering from Proactiv was a hassle. They want to sign you up for automatic renewal orders and you have to call again to cancel. I tried Proactiv years ago when I didn't know how to treat my skin, so I touched my face a lot and was overall very rough with my skin. However, it was expensive and I saw no difference with Proactiv at all. I was so disillusioned by the commercial that I actually felt worse about how I looked. Everyone talks about how bad they felt about themselves with acne, like it's a disgusting disease, and then you get the product, it doesn't work, and you feel even worse!

Feels fantastic!!!
My name is Heather (age 17) I love X out so much I could do a commercial about it! My face was breaking out especially when I used Proactive, but when I tried X out it totally cleared up my skin right away! It was unbelievable. It's like a breath mint for your face! I would recommend this to everyone, but then I saw some of the comments on this page and realized that this product doesn't work for everyone. Personally, this is the best acne product I have ever tried!!! Love it love it love it!ðŸ' -

At all cost: DO NOT BUY
Reacted very negatively to Proactiv. If anything, it made my skin 10x worse. It dries out your skin, stripping it of its natural oils which allows increased production of sebum which increases breakouts. Proactiv made my face so sensitive to the sun and I was prone to getting sunburns. It took approximately a year for my face to return back to normal and get rid of the sensitivity. Definitely the toner was the worst product in the trio.

No thank you
Im 18 and have this acne that just doesn't seem to go away, but the last year it seems to be clearing up. definitely in these past 6 months. I drink nothing but water, and workout quite often and that seems to help. also being on birth control helped a lot. Proactive is a product that once you start, you can't stop.. ( in a bad way..) It keep my acne under control, but as soon as I stop using it I break out SO bad. I wouldn't recommend it..

allergic reaction
Bad allergic reaction, didn't even put it on my eye lids, and both my eyelids/ face swollen and itchy with a rash. would never use this product again. Have never had an allergic reaction to a topical acne "solution" until now. Didn't help with acne.

Worse thing ever
This product sucks . I dries and irritates my skin so much and causes more acne . At first it cleared up but constantly would begin to peel . Acne is bad but with my faced peeled looking like America isn't any better . If you want to try I ahead if you think it's best I'm just going to say I have oily skin and not even lotion , baby oil or moisturizer could help with the dryness . It itches and burns . I stopped using every skin care product and just started rinsing my face and using makeup remover with only drinking water and my face isn't all that great now but it's only a few pimples left and I see it's gonna go away even more , I wouldn't waste my money on this bullcrap I have been a costumer or almost a year and it still hasn't worked X OUT IS AWFUL , PAINFUL AND ITCHY WHAT A PAIN IN MY BUTT IT IS !!! So thanks for not helping you suck X out I'm am no longer a costumer of yours home remedies do better than your product .

A TOTAL SCAM
Their auto-enroll is SHAAAADY. I tried XOut for 2 weeks, it didn't work, I cancelled. Then, a MONTH after I cancelled, I got an email saying that I owed them $80. They listed in their system that I called them 3 days ago on (big surprise) the day my shipment went out. Also, IT DOESN'T WORK. Stick with cheap OTC Benzoyl Peroxide.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
