Pros:

Got rid of some light acne at first.

Cons:

still saw bad acne, and didnt help at all the second time.

The first time I used it, I was impressed at the results. Some of my acne was gone while some of it remained, but I was just happy that it was finally clearing. I stopped using it for about a week, because I ran out, and when I started back it made my acne worse. :(

Pros:

Great cleansers
B.P. is a gel, so you can blend it in without it being visible on your face
Toner helps even out skin tones

Cons:

Mostly only works with people with mild acne
Expensive

Okay, i've used Proactiv off and on for a while. Probably close to 4-5 years now. I have never had severe acne, but I did have moderate acne for a while. I tried using Proactiv for my worst acne period and it really didn't help too much. Where people get confused is when it comes to the B.P. in the product. B.P. is meant to PREVENT breakouts, which I feel Proactiv does pretty well. However, if you have severe breakouts and are expecting Proactiv to magically make them disappear, this isn't the product for you. Unless you want to prevent future breakouts. If you have severe acne problems, you need to look for a product that will TREAT your currently existing acne. I ended up seeing my doctor to get some prescriptions to treat my acne, and I feel that it is now under control. I am back to using Proactiv solely to help PREVENT breakouts from happening. It has been working great and I love that they've updated the bottles as well as the B.P. It used to be a clear gel but now it's a thicker, whiter lotion-type texture. You can still rub it in without it being visible, though. I feel that this updated formula has helped it be more effective. So if you're looking for an acne system that really helps cleanse your face and leaves it smooth, Proactiv is for you.

Pros:

All natural. Fast shipping. Quick refund and responses to questions.

Cons:

Made the new zits that I would get HUGE. Way to harsh for my skin type.

While I do believe this product can actually work for some, it did the opposite for me. I have very sensitive skin and I think the scrubbing was just to harsh for me. The new zits that I would get would get so large, they would take forever to go away. I still have scars on my face from some of them. I don't think that this company is a scam. I just think that this product will either work for you or won't at all. I have since switched to Dan's regimen and have been clear ever since.

Pros:

NONE

Cons:

Will make you breakout like crazy!!!!!
Won't want to leave your house!!!

I bought this product after reading all the great reviews about it and let me warn you.......it was the worse thing that happened to me. The morning after I first used this product, I was shocked to see myself in the mirror. I had broken out all over my face and not only did I breakout but I had horrible redness as well. I asked a personal friend of mine who sells beauty products and they said you would have to be crazy to put this stuff on your face. All it does is clogs your pores. DO NOT BUY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros:

Lightened Up skin Tone
Gave me Normal Skin

Cons:

Dried Up Some Other Parts Of My Skin
Only Worked If I Used EVERY DAY

It did work for me. But just on my pimples. I have been struggling since 12 years old. I now have scars but i use this just for pimples.
May 4, 2011

Pros:

Cleared my skin quickly

Cons:

Expensive
a bit drying

It worked really well for me. im definatly going to re purchase it once it runs out. If it ever runs out, for the amount you use per day, one bottle of each product is going to last me like 6+ months.

Pros:

- Claims to be 'natural'
- Prompt delivery
- Through instructions on use of products

Cons:

- Caused increased amounts of clogged pores (white and blackheads)
- Caused occasional inflammatory acne or papule
- Carley's does forewarn you, but it definitely does bleach towels you use to cleanse your face with (and also the towels you dry off with EVEN after you throughly cleanse off the BP with the soap they recommend)

Seemed like a good alternative to a lot of the other mainstream acne systems (Proactiv, etc.). I tend to have sensitive skin and the product claimed to be good for all types of skin. I would usually only have a couple of clogged pores/whiteheads, but during the duration of properly using this product (about 2 months or so), I had multiple inflamed acne and an increased amount of clogged pores. Like some of the reviews, I thought that maybe this was just a process my skin had to go through to ultimately become clear, but my skin only got worse. Ultimately, I decided to discontinue using this product. I am positive that is product was the cause of my increased acne because within a few days if it's discontinued use, I have less clogged pores and my skin is slowly clearing up. Carley's was just not the right product for me.

Pros:

None.

Cons:

Did not work.

I used this consistently as instructed, but honestly, there was no change. I stopped using benzaclin to use this and my acne just went back to how it was before I started with benzaclin. I used this product until the bar of soap ran out and at this point, something should have happened regarding my skin, so clearly this product is not going to work. My skin gets slightly dry after use, to which I apply moisturizer, but the dryness does not help my acne. All in all, this is a waste of money and does nothing.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
