Pros:

Clears up acne really fast.
Left my skin feeling really soft and fresh.

Cons:

A little on the expensive side.

I love this product. My sister was using it for a while and when she visited me back in NZ she told me to give it a try because I have always had such bad problems with acne. Everytime I try a new product it seems to work for two weeks but then it stops working. With proacitv, this didn't happen. It cleared it up so well and has given me my confidence back. :) I followed the instructions carefully and my skin felt so soft after using it and it worked so well. People need to read the print carefully. It's 29.95 plus postage and handling for 30 days, so if you keep getting it it goes up to 89.90 for 90 days supply. A lot of people get caught up on that but if you read the information right then you'll be fine.

Pros:

Works fast
Smells nice
You feel clean after using it
Fairly price (in my opinion)

Cons:

A bit drying
Customer service wasn't good

I have been suffering from mild-moderate acne for about 3 years now. I have used many things from drugstore all that way to high end. Nothing seemed to work. I have seen many Proactiv commercials and decided to give it a try. I have nothing to lose, if it doesn't work or makes my skin worse, I'll stop using it and return it (they have a great return policy). So about a week ago I went over to the mall to pick it up ( they have a proactiv booth at my mall, and I didn't want to order it online and wait 10 business day for it to come). Well I got to the booth, and the girl that was working turned around to me after I had been waiting for 5 minutes and told me that she was going on break her for 30 mins and told me to come back later. I told her it would only take 5 minutes, I just had a few questions for her. She said the computer automatically locks when it's time for her break, which I though was B.S. But I said whatever and walked around the mall for 30 mins. She came back from her break and was actually very helpful, and helped me find the products that were best for me. I got the 3 step system that came with a free refining mask, and I bought the Oil free moisturizer SPF 15 on the side because she recommended it. I used it that night and was quite impressed. My skin felt great. The only thing is I don't recommend rubbing the cleanser for 1-2 mins like it says on the bottle, only for 30 secs (it has sugar like granules in it that can really irritate the skin if rubbed to hard or long). Other than that, it was great. Favorite products are the moisturizer and refining mask. The moisturizer is the perfect consistency and has SPF 15 , and the refining mask dries up and gets rid of zits like theres no tomorrow!! Its great. Overall, I'm very impressed with everything, accept with customer service. I would recommend trying it. It pretty much cleared up my skin completely. Everyones skin is different, and you can always return it for a full refund if it doesn't work

Pros:

- It works
- Slowly gives you your self-confidence back
- Not only clears zits, but gives you healthy, 'glowing' skin.

Cons:

- Takes a while to work
- Dries out skin at first
- Your skin becomes reliant on it
- Doesn't help with scarring

I began breaking out a little before high school, and acne became a HUGE part of my life. Anyone who has had acne knows how shattering it can be, and as silly and vain as it sounds, your whole outlook on a day can be decided on how your skin is feeling/looking. I started using Proactiv in the first year of highschool but stopped til year 10. In year 10, I broke out really badly and began using Proactiv again. Within a year, I was COMPLETELY cleared up. Although my skin was clear and healthy, a big part of me was still obsessed with my skin (it'll never go away - even when I'm old and grey, I'll always have a 'thing' about my skin) I decided to do some microdermabrasion facials before my formal/prom. The specialist that performed the microdermabrasions asked what my skincare routine was like, and when I told her I used Proactiv, she was shocked and told me to stop using it IMMEDIATELY and insteause the all-natural skin products that they sold at the salon. Within 2 weeks of stopping the use of Proactiv, I began to break out, and by 2 months, my face was in the worst condition it had ever been. I was devastated. It took me a while to realise that the reason I broke out was because I stopped using Proactiv. At first I thought it was the microdermabrasion procedures, but I realise it was Proactiv when I began using it again. It had been about 4 months since I'd last used Proactiv and so when I started back up, my skin became really dry to the point where it was flaking and applying makeup would just leave my face in a mess. But I stuck through it because I knew that Proactiv works...it just takes ages (and the amount of time it works is different for everyone). I've now been back using it for about 10 weeks, and there's been a significant improvement (atm I've got a couple zits but quite a bit of scarring). Bottom line: IT WORKS! But it'll make your skin really bad before it works, and once it clears you up, you have to use it o

Pros:

brightens skin
smooths texture
evens skin tone

Cons:

a bit drying

so far, so good. only had it for a week but it did what it said it would. i think u have to expect -some- dryness when trying to clear acne.

Pros:

I LOVEEEE this product! It works very fast! I've only had it for 2 weeks and my skin is clear. I almost didn't buy Proactiv because of all of the bad reviews...but i decided to try it, and I'm glad I did. I'm thinking maybe people don't use it the right way? I don't know but make sure you follow directions and you will have clear skin! Thanks, Proactiv!<3

Cons:

None yet...sometimes my skin feels tight so I use the Green Tea Moisturizer and it works well.

Great product! Just try it!

Pros:

-Works great!
-Skin was soft.
-Gave you a free prize.

Cons:

-Smells weird.
-Itty Bitty Bottles.
-Dried my skin and now its all flakey!

I ordered this honestly because I saw Justin Bieber on a commercial for it. But I ordered it because there was free shipping. When I got it it was right on time. I opened the box up to find about a 2 inch bottle. Lucky the last a lot longer. They already sent me another package but I'm still on the first one. Proactive dried out my skin to where it got flakey! So I stopped using it. A couple days after my acnee got worse! I never really got acne but now I do. So I tried using it again and it burned! It left my face bright red! But luckily after a week of using it my acne cleared!

Pros:

zero -.-

Cons:

Developed cystic acne where I'd never had any, broke me out horribly every time I used it, SOAP is a huge no no, dry and flaky, red... horrible HORRIBLE FACE. :(

I am a huge skeptic after using this and yes I fell for all the good reviews. I didn't look all the way through but I was like WOW five stars on so many. So I got it and used it, broke me out horribly in the first couple days. But the site said keep using it, and so I did... following the instructions to the letter. And lo and behold, my face did something it has never EvER done before. I started getting nasty cystic acne. Deep painful acne that i couldn't do anything with. It hurt forever and I couldn't get it out. My face finally cleared again back to where it was, some blackheads and stuff when i stopped using it. I believe this product is a fake like people say, it disgusts me that I fell for it and i really hope other people begin to realize how horrible it is to exploit people who already suffer from acne and how freaking bad it makes them feel. DO NOT USE. :(

Pros:

-Doesn't leave white streaks like the Clean and Clear BP as long as you let it settle in
-Doesn't 'ball up'
-Not overly drying

Cons:

-Small bottle, expensive

I finally decided to try the regimen when one night, like Dan, I slathered 10% BP all over my face and found it to be rather effective. But like Dan the 10% was too much for my face so I switched over to this. So far it's been working fabulously, it really does help keep my acne at bay and my skin is the clearest it's been in two years. It IS BP so it WILL dry out your skin. Use moisturizer, it is very important. I have extremely sensitive dry skin, I stuck with the regimen and now my skin is used to the BP. I don't feel redness or anything, and sometimes I can even use 10% BP all over my face when I run out of the 2.5%. If I can use this product everyone else should be able to! No excuses ifs or buts, this is truly an amazing regimen and everyone should give it a go. A little discomfort is well worth being acne-free.

Pros:

None

Cons:

Break out 5x more in 2 week time period.

I went to get this , after I hear of all the good reviews of the product at [link removed] or w/e. I found out that Clinque FILTERS their reviews, which pisses me off "98% recommend this item." Acne.org is more accurate, and this product is terrible.

Finding a Doctor

The right dermatologist can make a big difference to your patient experience and the success of your acne treatment plan. Here are the steps to find a dermatologist who is a good fit:

  1. Use the search feature on the American Academy of Dermatology website to look for board-certified dermatologists in your area, and filter the search results for doctors with a special interest in treating acne.
  2. Read online patient reviews of any dermatologists you are considering and ask people you know whether they have any experience with these dermatologists.
  3. Do your research and go to your first appointment with questions prepared.
  4. Listen to what your gut feeling tells you once you see a dermatologist in person. If you are not completely comfortable, try a different dermatologist.

Finding a Doctor

Only a select few plastic surgeons specialize in acne scar revision surgery. Be certain to find a provider who specializes in acne scar repair and who is passionate and experienced in this area.

Be sure to:

  • Look at before and after photos, the more the better, especially patients with similar scarring to your own.
  • Be realistic about results. Look for improvement, not a cure.

Questions to ask a potential scar revision specialist:

  • Are you board certified? Be certain that they are board certified.
  • How long have you been performing these procedures? Normally, the more experience the better, however, some younger surgeons may be more on top of the latest procedures.
  • Can I speak to some of your other patients? Ask for references for several patients who had similar scarring and speak to them about the process and their satisfaction with results.

Red flags:

  • Their story changes: As you discuss different treatment options, if they tend to change their mind easily, or agree with whatever you say, consider this a red flag. A confident, experienced surgeon will possess strong, unwavering opinions.
  • Your gut tells you "no": Trust your gut. If you just don't feel that the doctor is the right fit, trust that and move on. On the other hand, if you feel they are the perfect specialist for you, trust that feeling.
